Val steals Logan away for New Years because for a few minutes she wants it to be just the two of them and Hesh is busy anyways. Keegan has taken her here a few times, and she figured it was a golden opportunity to see fireworks. The two of them sit with some granola bars and Logan was able to slip some Bubly into her water bottle. The two of them are joking about how they’re “so bad” and “getting away with stuff”.

“What’s your resolution?” Val asks.

“Honestly don’t have one. Work out more?” Logan says. Val chuckles, cause they would joke about that when they were younger.

“I would get upset with myself a lot, cause I didn’t achieve what I should have or thought I should.” Val explains. “Dad told me that you should improve yourself… but the best part is listing all the things you did in the past year.”

“Joined the ghosts… met back up with you… never been to the stadium like that before…” Logan listed. Val smiled, hearing she was one of the things he listed.

“…okay this one is embarrassing… for a resolution I guess.” Val starts. Logan listens. “Kiss someone.”

“Can’t say I’ve done that this past year.” Logan admits. They both go very quiet. “Also haven’t gotten anything made custom by your talented works.”

Val smiles, happy to hear that.

“I remember you sometimes hid in your room working on all kinds of painting projects.” Logan mentions.

“You used to come to my room with Hesh, and chill in there while I worked, just to make sure I didn’t get high off the paint fumes.” Val mentions. She then reaches into her bag and pulls something out that Logan recognizes. It’s from when they were little, and their mom showed them how to make hemp bracelets. Logan kept his close for sentimental reasons but never expected Val to do the same.

“Maybe could make you another on-“ Val was interrupted by Logan putting his forehead to hers and hugging Val. Val felt her face get warm, but she assumed it was from Logan's breath on her face. Val responded to the sudden gesture, with an arm around him. His breathing was a little heavy, like he was fighting of a minor panic attack.

"Sorry Logan, I didn't mean to trigger-"

"It's fine." Logan said quickly. "It's... it's not that... I just..."

Valkyrie hugged her best friend, closer. Logan's arms went around her torso, tightly. He heard Valkyrie's voice softly talking him down, despite not knowing what he was thinking. She could feel his heart pounding in his chest. Valkyrie kept talking to him, calming him down until he told her to stop. Right now, he was content with holding her, having her in his arms, and not fearing for each other's lives. Without thinking, Logan buried his face into her neck, breathing her in for a moment. They both wanted to say something to each other, but couldn't voice it.

Then there was shouting in the distance, forcing the two to pull away from each other. It was a crowd of people somewhere in the city. They were counting down, while the two ghosts faced forward. The ball dropped and fireworks were launched into the sky, high above them. The loud bursts of colour illuminate the sky above them. Valkyrie moved over resting her head on Logan's shoulder, as they were bathed in yellow, blue, pink and red light.
