Happy National Coconut Torte Day! The word torte is German and means cake, literally. Torte refers to a multi-layered cake with buttercream, jam, or cream and a rich, moist one-layered cake. Torte may be served with little or no flour, but rather with breadcrumbs or ground nuts and butter, eggs, and flavorings. Coconuts may have been even older than people believe, traded by Arab merchants with coconuts from India to East Africa almost 2000 years ago. The idea of a coconut cake came to surface in the 1920s and was served at ladies gatherings, and from there, people began to experiment with coconut, and thus eventually created the coconut torte. #NationalCoconutTorteDay #CoconutTorte 🥥 🍰 #FoodSales #WeKnowFood #FoodConsultant #FoodDude #FoodService #Food #FoodServiceSolutions #FoodOfTheDay #NobertSales @NobertSales (at Germantown, Tennessee) https://www.instagram.com/p/CbC2PReucwb/?utm_medium=tumblr
