Do you have any thoughts on the fact that sukuna can use rct to heal others but Gojo canât, in consideration to how they chose to live with unmatched strength? Or alternatively, do you think there was a further meaning to sukuna being one of the very few who can use rct like that, alongside shoko (the leading healer) and Yuta (patron guy of true mutual love) or is it simply because heâs the Best at sorcery? I canât recall any moments he used it on others in the story rn, so what would be the purpose of having that trait there?
oh yeah I have so many thoughts, and this is a really interesting set of questions!!
first off, re: when sukuna used it in canon. To my memory, he only used it once! It was on Megumi during Shibuya, to keep him from dying while Sukuna killed Mahoraga. So the only use we have from him is, in itself, innately selfish. (also side tangent this is why I thought it was very funny to make him use it on Megumi again in Recurrence. We are always doomed to return very close to where we started).
So from a practical in-story perspective, I think it's because Sukuna can use it to keep people who are useful to him alive.
Now, for my own interpretation of it-- I think it speaks to the ethos sukugo has in how they approach a world that's fundamentally weaker than them. Gojo's inability to use RCT on other people speaks to the fact Gojo strongly believes he can't help people who haven't asked for his help. He waits for people to be ready to be saved, to want to save themselves! It fits him really well that he cannot force salvation on other people.
But Sukuna doesn't care about waiting for other people to be ready. He does as he pleases, and uses people as he pleases, so him being able to use RCT on others is, in a way, saying he doesn't have to care about their boundaries or their feelings. They will live and die at his whims.
There's another aspect of it I find really poetic too, that comes from my personal headcanon for Sukuna-- he was born with the pieces of someone meant to be honored as Gojo was, but that was twisted and warped at birth (or before birth), and the world scorned him for it (the disgraced one, the fallen one, etc). So imo, RCT is a piece of heavy irony. He could have been a savior. He could have been a healer! He is neither, and refuses to be.
thinking about how satoru looks delicate and sukuna looks monstrous but they are both monsters. Sukuna just. grabbing Satoru's chin. turning it.

âWell, arenât you interesting,â he murmured, and tossed the blade up in the air, catching it on a finger. It balanced perfectly. âVery interesting. This is fine work.â âYou honor me, Sukuna-sama.â âI do,â Sukuna agreed, looking down. The man didnât look up. There was a slight tremor in the arms. A cold sweat, building on the back of the neck. Easy to see with the man folded to the ground. âAre you afraid?â A swallow. A shaking. âYes,â the man admitted, âbut Iâm fine with fear if I make better blades because of it.â Sukuna laughed. âI like you, smith. Your name?â âMunechika.â Sukuna would remember it. âFinish preparing the blade,â he ordered. There was a gulp. Loud. But the manâs hands didnât shake as he reached for his tools, the sword, taking the flat edge of wood to clay, and then to the blade. Sukuna settled back and watched. The manâ Munechikaâ was careful. He didnât rush. A thick layer across the spine, the body. Little rivulets down, to the edge. Like ribs, reaching for the open air. âIt will take a while for it to dry, Sukuna-sama.â âIt wonât,â Sukuna corrected, and opened the gaping maw of his flame. It unfolded into his hand, a painting of heat and sharp divinity. The man took a sharp breath, looking up. Sukuna would forgive it. He opened his palm, and the flame licked out, drying the clay in an instant. He didnât heat the blade, not yet. He was interested in a blacksmith, not a pile of char. âGet ready,â he ordered, and so the man did. A set of tongs clamped the tang, and then the man held out the blade. An offering from penitent to god. Sukuna drenched it in flame.
discord isn't sending my messages in this trying time when I'm trying to complain about how hard writing is and how much I want to write sukugo and how its been A THOUSAND YEARS since ive written sukugo. this is homophobic

sharin a little sukugo snip for @sukugo-week Wednesday
It was a warm day for spring, or so Satoru claimed. Sukuna didnât know. Couldnât tell. One of many downsides to the body of a curse, formed and painted at his command. Oh, there was a raw physicality to this form. Twenty fingers made him just as much man as curse, and Sukuna had taken steps to make that take. But still, some things were lost to him. The heat, the cold. The warmth of meat, the quench of water. Gone. It annoyed him. ââŚand thatâs why you shouldnât incinerate the next phone I get you.â âUnconvincing,â Sukuna drawled, and ran four hands over what was his. He didnât feel heat, but he could feel Satoru. A body unmarked by scars. Long, long legs, made for spreading, for wrapping around Sukunaâs waist. There was a thick irony to that. The one blessed under the heavens bent so perfectly for the disgraced one. Disgraced, he thought, amused. As if anyone had the strength to judge him lacking. Not even Satoru had that right. The man was bare and sprawling, leaning back against Sukunaâs chest, head tilted up to watch him. Six eyes, unblinking. Satoru didnât need to look, to see. Sukuna knew that. And yet, still, Satoru watched. âYouâre not getting hooked on gacha, are you?"
