Jimmy Carbonetti of Brooklyn band, Caveman, on stage at their headlining show at Webster Hall in New York City on April 10, 2013. I thought their debut, Coco Beware was excellent, and their just-released, self-titled, sophomore record is every bit as good. A full set of photos are up on BrooklynVegan.
Caveman's much-anticipated sophomore, self-titled album will see an April 2nd release through Fat Possum Records, and based on the singles I've heard and posted here -- "In The City" "Over My Head" and now, the latest single "Where's The Time" -- Caveman's forthcoming album may arguably be one of the best records released this year. Their sound for me hits a particular emotional chord as it seems to express the angst and anxieties of adulthood.
"Where's The Time" has an understated yet eerie beauty. In some way it's kind of reminiscent of the same eerie beauty that you can hear on Coco Beware's "Easy Water."
I thought I remembered really loving this album when it came out, and giving it a lofty spot on my year-end list, but I only have a few songs from it saved, so maybe not. The album's title is unbeatable, though.
