Excerpt from chapter 3: It’s Already Too Late
“I’m not exactly boyfriend material, Bruno. I don’t want to get my hopes up only to have to step away once you’re satisfied. I’m not… my heart can’t take that.”
“Oh,” Bruno breathed, understanding clicking into place in his mind.
Leone thought this was a one-night stand. That was why he’d been taking his time, moving slowly. He thought he was going to be pushed away once they were done, and that wouldn’t do at all.
“Well, I happen to think you’re boyfriend material, Leone. I’m not trying to lead you on, when I say I want you I mean it in every sense of the word. Definitely not just a quick fuck.”
Leone blinked up at him, furrowed brows framing the confusion in his eyes.
“You have as many chances as you want, Leone, as many as you need. I’m not going anywhere.” Bruno spoke gently, lovingly as he watched Leone take a shaky breath.
“I don’t deserve your patience. Or you.”
“Well tough shit. You’re my boyfriend now, so you’re getting my love and support whether you think you deserve it or not.”
Bruno squeezed his hand, and Leone squeezed back, laughing shakily with a small smile ghosting over his lips.
