Lynyrd Skynyrd CMA Tribute - Various artists
The recent death of Gary Rossington meant no original member of Skynynrd remains, time for a CMT tribute.
I won't even try to name them all but I was glad to see Billy Gibbons join Slash, LeAnn Rimes, Wynona Judd, Chuck Leavell among others for a work-up of "Simple Man" and "Sweet Home Alabama". (I guess the "Free Bird" prohibition extends even to the CMTs).
Okay, silly question, but why is everyone freaking out over TayNew and the Cherry Magic remake? I'm not that familiar with TayNew and I haven't seen Cherry Magic yet, but I heard both of them have a pretty good reputation. So why is this such bad news??
hmmm... i can only really speak for myself here but there are a couple reasons i'm less than thrilled
first off, the JBL adaptation of cherry magic is kind of perfect as is. there was a lot of care and thought put into every detail. JBLs also have a specific style and i'm not sure how that would translate to a Thai BL style — especially a GMMTV Thai BL. there's a good chance it'll lose some of the charm and sincerity the other version had.
and secondly... taynew are kind of?? an odd choice?? they haven't acted together for a long time and some of their fans have a reputation for being VERY salty about this. i honestly thought they'd probably moved on from acting as a pair but i guess they're still too profitable for GMMTV to set them free 🤷
tl;dr: i don't really think we needed a Thai adaptation, and we didn't really need more TayNew either. it kind of just seems like a cash grab and I'm worried it'll be pretty insincere
