Ok so the winner looked like this. 

and had an attitude like this

And I immediately disliked her.  She was abrasive and borderline rude, yelled too much in the hotshop, and golldarnit wasn’t normal looking!

But then I watched.  One by one, competitors were eliminated.  But not Deborah!  Because she insisted on making things that weren’t terrible.  Things that had meaning and that were a little...off.  She had skills and purpose and she shoved that into the pieces she made for each challenge.

She remained abrasive, borderline rude, and she still yelled too much.  But I kinda started to see where she was coming from.  She mentioned being a female in what had been a male-dominated profession for most of her career.  How she was non-binary, and that representation was important.  She was sad when a particular person was sent home because she saw the good in her work.  

One of the challenges was to make something food related.

Hey, how about show us some planty-naturey kind of thing.  Ok, sure. 

One of the challenges was going to be guest-judged by a fancy ballet dancer.  The challenge was to demonstrate the human body in motion.  and what does she do?

And the finale.  THE FINALE.  It’s between her and a guy who I wouldn’t have been upset if he’d won.  They both had made some amazing things. 

It was a free round, 8 hours and three assistants, use this space to present it.

Yes, she made a giant glass egg (female) surrounded by sausages.
