A Curator's Day

Today, I finished installing Then & Now.

I started installing Then and Now today.

I printed and mounted text panels for Then and Now today.

For some reason, I just love waffle irons. This one was made by Griswold Manufacturing Company of Erie, PA and patented in 1901.

I met with the folks from the Elmira Civil War Prison Camp today. We selected items from our collection to loan them for display at their Symposium July 24-26. The items include a haversack and sewing kit carried by Robert A. Hall of the 141st NY Volunteers. I managed to find a picture of Mr. Hall that was taken 1894, so that'll go on display with the items.

Today, I pulled out the ol' graph paper to figure out the wall layout for Then and Now.

Today, I pulled some Chemung County Fair posters out of the Archive to reproduce for Then and Now. They're from 1847, 1887, 1920, 1990, and 2024.

I finished mounting objects in wall cases today for Then and Now.

I started mounting objects in wall cases for Then and Now today.

I worked on Then and Now some more today.

I worked on the Then and Now exhibit today.

I catalogued some newly donated artifacts today including this 49-star American flag. This was the official flag of the U.S. for only one year from July 4, 1959 to July 3, 1960 between when Alaska and Hawaii became states.

Busy, busy day today now that I’m both Senior Curator and Acting Director of the Museum.

Fighting for Our Nation is installed and ready to open to the public on July 4th and I'm ready for a day off tomorrow!

It's getting there!

I continued installing Fighting for Our Nation today. I got the plexi up over the firearms (with the help of our Education Director) and mounted artifacts in a wall case.

I finished mounting medals and memorial pics today. They'll go inside a freestanding display case (once I figure out exactly where the case will be in the gallery).
