Thank you, everyone, for such a great, crazy-busy art production/sales year here on the South Shore of Nova Scotia! It was a collaborative year with @jctextileart working on shimmers and prints. I created the #cloudsandcream collection as the year-long featured artist on the walls of @get_the_scoop_ns in Mahone Bay. I spent almost every Saturday afternoon there painting and meeting people from all over the world. I completed my #50quickies and started turning them into prints and pendants. I painted and sold my #lakesideladies and #beachbabes (now my best selling prints.) I painted a fun skateboard for charity. AND I did a full roster of markets and shows starting the first weekend of September, going every weekend, and ending December 23rd!! Oh, and somehow I managed to squeeze in a commission for Christmas! I have been sleeping and eating and cuddling my two most patient and loving family members, right there, for the past 12 days. It has been GLORIOUS! Sometimes paintings speak to you. "Dreamsicle Drizzle" lights the tropical rain in my brain. Some days are dreamier than others and today was one where my body just went, "Nope, not happening. You will be a lump and jugs of coffee and hours of mental pep talks where your voice morphs between Tony Robbins and Oprah will do nothing but make you want to eat cream filled doughnuts." So be it. Moon Mist is a unique, east coast flavour! I bounced around on this 24" 36" piece a lot when I was painting it. I used reference photos of pink "altocumulus castellanus" clouds (AKA fluffy popcorn looking ones!) but the more I worked on it, the more floral it became. My goal was to make clouds look "delicious", so I kept reworking it. I still see the roses in the painting, but now it has more of a popcorn/cotton candy kinda feel, so I'm good. Now it's a full on "date" painting, flowers AND candy at the seashore!! It is part of my week long SWEETSUMMERSALE! All four of the 16"×20" oil on canvas pieces in the Clouds and Cream collection. This group were all based on taking small fragments of a painting by Aivonovsky and digitally blowing them up a random amount. Then I tweaked the colors to give me the pallette I wanted and used the result as my reference photo to paint.
