John Wick.

It was one of her favorite movies. Partially because Keanu Reeves was hot but also because the elements in the movie were somewhat accurate. But it wasn’t like she could say anything about it. No one knew. Not unless they were in the circle too. And no one she knew was. Hell, none of her friends really knew who she really was.

Kayla sat in the living room, watching the movie, eating some sushi, and cleaning her weapons. She never knew when she was going to need them. Especially if her past came back to bite her. She didn’t know when but she had a feeling one day it would. And when it did, she would be ready.

Cleaning her guns was effortless, something she could do with her eyes closed. Biting her lip, she ate a piece of sushi and picked up her cleaning rag, rubbing some oil onto the slide of one of her pistols. As she cleaned, her mind wandered to the last time she’d had to truly use her weapons.

-two years ago-

“Hello Prescott.”

“Matthews.”

Kayla scowled, yet smirked at the woman in front of her. It wasn’t easy being a woman in this kind of world. Normally, it was ‘we girls have to stick together’. Not here. Here, it was every man, or woman, for herself.

“You workin?” The other asked.

She nodded. “I am.” Kayla’s hand rested easily at her side, ready to make a swift movement to grab her gun and use it . “You?”

She nodded. “I am. Has it been a good night?”

Kayla grinned. “It will be.” Her fingers twitched slightly, biting her lip lightly.

The other smirked. “We shall see.” With a smirk, the woman raised her gun.

However, Kayla was faster. She’d seen the movement so she knew what was coming. Moving out of the way, she raised her gun and fired three shots, each one finding a fatal mark. Keeping her gun up, she watched as the other fell. She grinned and slipped her gun back into the small of her back. She slipped her phone from her pocket and made a call.

“Yes. I need a dinner reservation for one, and Id like to cash in on a tab.”

Kayla grinned, listening to the voice on the other end. “Thank you.” She hung up and walked out of the room and to her car. Sliding into the driver seat of a black Dodge Charger Hellcat, Kayla revved the engine and sped off.

-present day-

Kayla shook her head, clearing her head of the memory. It seemed like so long ago. A part of her wondered if she’d be able to do it again if she needed to. She was gonna have to go to the range.. just to make sure she could still do it.
