Why #MoneyandViolence is the BEST TV Series on the Internet [Spoiler Alert] I just watched the finale of Season 2 of crime drama MONEY & VIOLENCE. It was AWESOME to say the least. I love how all the dots were connected at the end. However I wanted to share why this independently filmed web series is the BEST thing to hit the internet. 1. It’s independently filmed. The creators of Money & Violence, production team Cloud9TV, shot the entire first season with their own money and used friends to play the characters. Moise (who plays Rafe) shot most of the series with an iPhone and had never directed film before starting the series. 2. They Got Fashion! Season 1 and Season 2 featured some hot clothing brands. My favorite Fashion moment has to be the infamous “GOD WAS BORN IN BROOKLYN” leather jacket created by OIA Brand worn by Rafe in Season 2. 3. The Co-Sign! – Tidal and Jay Z. When Jay Z gives you the thumbs up that pretty much means you are golden in the entertainment world. Signing for an undisclosed amount to Tidal, It’s now available on the celebrity owned platform exclusively but OG fans from Season 1 can also find new episodes just a few days later on YouTube. Don’t blink either…you can find rappers T.I. and Maino pop up in Season 2. Season 1 got a surprise walk on appearance from Radio Personality Ebro from NY’s Hot 97. 4. Respect Your Jaw! Sometimes the lead characters don’t always steal the show. Street Bully Mister and uber-flashy con-artist Leon the ZoeGod are series staples and provide some comedic aspects within the super serious dialogue. 5. No Sex Scenes…well this may not be the best thing but the series keeps it straight business with the lack of romance and sex. Ironically, they have a cast of beautiful women and good looking guys. A part of the story line does insinuate that love connections happen but you won’t catch anyone “knocking boots”. Season 3 we hope more sex is included (wink wink). 6. It’s international. The cast’s diversity is amazing. The Jamaicans have a civil war with the Haitian American Brooklynites who have a drug debt with the Mexican cartel. Who can ask for more? Highlight: The Jamaicans spoke in authentic Patois the entire series. Thank goodness for subtitles. 7. It’s relevant – the series does a great job at being authentic as well current. Peep references to the death of Eric Garner and policy brutality. 8. It stands apart from its counterparts. In a time where Scandal (ABC), Power (Starz) and Empire (Fox) reign supreme, Money and Violence gives these other shows a run for their money. With a growing viewership and strong social media buzz (The Cloud9tv Instagram has 91,000 followers), we predict either a major movie deal or a network deal with a major company is in the near future.
