I want to say the model of the Triceratops itself is about... 99% done.

Annoyingly, this skin pattern on the toy does not work brilliantly with Contrast paints. When the model is primed, it's fine, but the skin is so lumpy and the gaps between the scales is so pronounced that there are bits of the undercoat coming through on the blue and the green. I really should have gone with my original idea of undercoating with Wraithbone White then layering on with Army Painter Army Green and work from that. Ah well, it's only the one model. Live and learn.

I do like the grey for the horns and beak, which counterpoints the green and blue of the body, along with the black and red of the frill display.

Need to give his eyes a paint, which I'm debating whether to go with regular round pupils or give them the horizontal rectangular pupils that I've seen in some paleomedia for ceratopsians. Then I'll give his body a shade just to bring the colours down a tad, though I'll give the frills a red shade or maybe another layer just to bring their colours UP, make it more of a vibrant display.

Contrast layers on the Triceratops done, mainly with big bit of green skin, the blue stripes on the back and the red and black frill display. The former two are inspired by the Prehistoric Planet Triceratops while the frill is inspired by the original Walking With Dinosaurs Torosaurus (still a ceratopsian, it counts). It does need the bits filled in and given a wash to darken it down just a bit since I feel it's a might too bright.

So I've based up the Spinosaurus and Triceratops models, added the resin foliage to their bases, as well as based up the Mercenary figure with shotgun too.

Do need to fill the injection holes present on the dinosaurs, though the Mercenary figure is good to go for painting. Don't really need to add too much to him that he doesn't already have.

The Tyrannosaurus Rex, the apex predator of Petrel's Paradise. With a cosmopolitan range that spans virtually the entirety of the island, all mercenary teams will undoubtedly meet with this fierce predator. Only a steely nerve, quick reflexes and good chance will protect you from this prehistoric beast. And that's if you're lucky enough to only run into one...

I got the Rex done before I had to leave for work, and I'm so happy about that. I still seems to suffer from my seeming inability to fully cover a model's base in sand to cover all the gaps, though I've got some Army Painter Brown Battleground basing material which I might use to fill the gaps, since earth isn't of a uniform quality.

But a big base means a lot of room to put extra foliage and stuff on it, so it's a mix of flock, resin bits, model moss/lichen and some laser cut plants too.

And a size comparison between the Rex and a figure made from Anvil Industry bits. The Rex's pose skews it a bit, but I would still say it's in the right range for 28mm scale models.

Might do a photoshoot at later date using my light box and lamps to get a better view of it.

And of course, I need to show how it started as a comparison.

I am both pleased with how it looks, getting a good mixture of foliage, rocks and extra stuff for the floor, but I'm also annoyed at all the gaps in the sand from where the PVA glue didn't fully sit or was too thin and thus didn't take the sand. So I'm going to go back over those bits once the glue is fully dried and then use either the Brown Battleground sand/rock texture stuff, or the Battleground Rocks from The Army Painter to fill it in. Some bits I might leave and cover with flock, tufts or the mossy stuff you can get for wargaming models.
