Oddball “Davijaan”/Longshot/Wooley for the character bingo sheet for @cloneshipweek
Longshot’s shoulder almost bowls Wooley over after the enter the mess hall. He turns to snap, but notices his focused attention and follows his gaze. The focus is narrow and laser sharp, entirely on Commander Davijaan. The Commander looks… utterly exhausted.
They’d heard about the losses taken on his last mission, and hesitate to approach. Longshot squared his shoulders and—despite Wooley’s hissed objections—sets his tray down across from him. Resolutely ignoring the tension radiating from the Commander in front of him, Longshot beckons Wooley over.
With a wary stifled groan, Wooley joins them, and Davijaan turns his attention to Wooley. “You’re Ghosts.” It’s not a question. Longshot exchanges a glance with Wooley before answering.
“Yeah. We’re in Ghost. You look like you could use some company tonight, Commander.”
That elicits a bark of laughter. “You’re bold, shiny, I’ll give you that.” Before either of them can protest, he continues, “You’re also not wrong.” He sighs and grinds the heels of his hands into his eyes. “I didn’t have any appetite to begin with. Let’s go.”
He stands, and the two troopers follow his lead, quickly stuffing their mouths with what they could of their midmeal. They follow him to his quarters, where he sets about pulling the lumpy mattress onto the floor.
The instant the mattress and thin pillows and blankets are arranged, the three of them collapse in a heap. Davijaan waits for them, but they pull him down between them, wrapping their limbs around him protectively. “Sleep, Commander. We’ll keep watch for anything that might need your attention.”
