#clocks changing

How do you find the Mondays after the clocks change from British Summer Time to Greenwich Mean Time in the Autumn, and back again in the Spring…? ⏰

Is it just me or does it leave anyone else feeling a bit “out of sync”…?

To be honest, my Monday’s felt a bit fraught today, but that might be the two medical and one optician’s appointment Steve and I have fitted in, along with delivering a framed piece of original art and soaking the fruit for two Christmas cakes squeezed between… Tomorrow, I just want to paint, but I suspect there’ll be a bit of baking too…!

Dusk comes early,

I know it does this.

The seasons changed,

The clocks went back,

And dusk comes early.

I’m not walking as much,

Want to spend lunches warm,

Don’t want to walk in darkness,

So the dusk keeps me in.

I loved seeing it arrive,

Grey clouds turning pink,

What a peaceful time to think.

But the clocks changed,

So all of a sudden, dark.

Night when I log off work,

And the cold under my skin.

Perhaps I should walk more,

The clocks have changed. This always throws my internal clock out. Now this morning my alarm went off. And for some reason I knew that it was too early. Sure enough, checked my phone, and it was only 0430. Excellent an extra hours kip! Still 0530 is pretty early. Still a belter lay-in than my usual 0315 early start get up.

But just having a thought about the clocks changing. Apparently we get more light in the morning. Well I don’t know about you. But, it is pitch black outside. So that doesn’t really help. The thing that I will notice is though. When I finish work. It will be getting dark!

Lets make this the example. A school kid walking to school. When they leave it is dark - but getting light. When they come home, it is lightish - but getting dark. Would it not be better then to keep BST in the winter, and have it lighter longer in the evenings.

And whilst I am going on about school kids. Why are school uniforms nearly always black or or other dark colours. Surely it would be safer to be seen. And I am sure that trendy kids wearing dayglow green would love it!
