How was your week?

We just got back yesterday from an amazing 7 nights in Dinbych-y-pysgod, "little fortress of the fishes", otherwise known at Tenby, in Sir Benfro, Pembrokeshire!

It's a very beautiful area and I took so many photos to create art from. Now the question is which to paint first! Please do let me know which would be your choice!

Today I’m delighted to share my “African Painted Dog”!

I think I was influenced in creating this piece by my husband Steve telling me about Flint, a remarkable painted dog featured in the BBC production "Kingdom" narrated by David Attenborough.

The original framed A4 painting is available in Gallery 1 of Castle Park Arts Centre, Off Fountain Lane, Castle Park, Frodsham, Cheshire WA6 6SE, 10am till 4pm each Tuesday till Saturday, until 27th June.

I just saw the above quoted by a contact, and had to re-share it.

About 10 years ago I got given more time than I expected, when my treatment for lymphoma (a blood cancer) was successful. I felt obscenely lucky and made a conscious decision what to do with that time.

I decided to use it to create images and I now have something else to be grateful for - that people value them! And that through my art I've stayed relevant and found a place in our society!

Just to share a little of how I see the world.

It's been said that jays and magpies collect shiny things. I'm not sure that's scientifically true, but I know I collect pretty little images, especially of flowers.

All I have to see is a flash of an interesting colour, and I'm there!

The real "sepia" has arrived!

You may remember my family had bought me a set of watercolour paints (for my birthday), finding the all different colours from a number of suppliers.

It was a really lovely gift!

Unfortunately, one of the suppliers had sent a half-pan of "sepia" paint which was actually blue, not the brown it was supposed to be, and then they relied on a time-limit for returns which landed before my birthday.

But now, a fair time after, I've managed to source the right "sepia" from a more reliable supplier, so I can use the full set!

Do you like having a "full" collection of things too?

I think it may be a part of many of our natures to "collect".

Thank you very much for all the lovely messages, posts and stories, and to those who attended the evening reception last night, in support of my participation in the Eddisbury Artists exhibition in Gallery 1 at Castle Park Arts Centre, Frodsham WA6 6SE (open now Tues-Sat, 10-4, till 27th June).

We had a great evening, and there seems to have been sales made already in all the galleries, with three in ours and Gallery 2 (a fundraiser where everything is just £20 - including the 5 extra paintings I submitted) especially busy!

Today I’d like to show you my Helleborus Orientalis, which I have drawn by literally depositing grains of silver on specially prepared paper, in the same way as Leonardo Da Vinci, Sandro Botticelli, Raphael, and Jan van Eyck employed “silverpoint” to create their drawings before pencils became routinely available!
