So, I'll be running some kind of post apocalypse game for a convention in the near future. Have you got any reccomendations for good systems/settings people can pick up and play relatively quickly? (The event is also cyberpunk themed this year, though that's secondary.)
As far as conventional party-based adventure games go, Engine Heart is reasonably straightforward and oneshot-friendly, if you don’t mind that it’s basically grimdark Wall-E (which conveniently hits both your target genre and the event’s theme). On the other hand, if by “post apocalypse“ you specifically meant a Fallout/Mad Max sort of thing, you might have a look at Atomic Highway; it’s probably the easier of the two for new players to get their heads around, though it doesn’t fit the theme quite so well. The digital editions of both games are available for free at the time of this posting.
If you’d prefer to give something more collaborative and less scenario-driven a try, you could check out one of the quickstart playsets for Legacy 2nd Edition. Both Titanomachy and Non-Compliant are available as free PDFs, and others appear as part of the various Legacy supplements.
