Unfortunately, he's not. According to the books he does appear to have romantic relations with three of Mr. Norell's house maids.
literally the book just says he’s fond of them, there is absolutely nothing close to confirmation that he had a romantic relationship w/ three different maids (lmao yeah that’d go well). they might have crushes on him and he liked them, but that’s not proof of anything. meanwhile this passage is explicit.
and also! you! can! have! relationships! and be asexual!!! the implication in your response is that childermass having a “romantic relationship” would preclude him from being ace which is patently false and insulting.
like sorry to lash out but this v dismissive attitude towards a representative headcanon (he’s certainly not straight, so i hesitate to even call it a headcanon) is so so so typical of fandom and it’s beyond frustrating, it’s painful. you’re stifling a legitimate argument that this fictional character is queer w/ very little evidence and you do it so dismissively. “he’s not,” like yours is the final word.
i know this is a small thing to blow up over, but i get responses like this every single time i say a character is ace and i’m fucking sick of it.
