Unilateral Cleft Lip Repair This little girl was born with unilateral cleft lip and palate deformity. She was brought to our hospital at 3 months old for corrective surgery. Using the modified Millard’s technique, a C-flap was utilized to reconstruct the nasal sill and the floor of the mouth. Following this, the orbicularis oris, subcutaneous tissue and skin were reapproximated using a surgical loupe. Unilateral Cleft Lip and Alveolus Deformity This little boy was born with a right-sided cleft lip and alveolus deformity. Feeling distraught, his parents brought him to our hospital for corrective surgery. He underwent cleft lip repair at 4 months of age. Reconstruction of the floor of the nasal cavity and nasal sill was performed through a C-flap. The orbicularis oris, subcutaneous tissues and skin were meticulously approximated using a three-layer closure performed under magnification of a surgical loupe. Abbe Flap Lip and Nose Reconstruction The young boy was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate deformity. He underwent cleft lip repair at 3 months of age and cleft palate repair at 8 months of age. He also underwent cleft alveolus correction at 3 years and 6 months of age. It was explained to his parents that an Abbe flap reconstruction would be needed when he was around 7 years of age. They presented now for the Abbe flap reconstruction of his collapsed columella and stunted prolabium deformity. His prolabium was dissected free and the flap was used to recreate and raise the collapsed columella through an open rhinoplasty. This soft tissue defect at the prolabium was then reconstructed with an Abbe flap harvested from the lower lip. This flap was separated from the lower lip after three weeks once collateral blood supply had been established from the upper lip region. He now had complete cosmetic and functional correction of his deformities.
