#cleated rivalry

but it kind of leaves me with a weird feeling because ilya & shane and heated rivalry are about a closeted couple that fall in love and are feeling the weight of being in a homophobic industry. they're scared if they come out, they might be forced out of doing the thing they love/are good at/losing the ability to stay in america.

unless i'm way off base, erling and jude are genuinely just very good friends that both play football/soccer.

some of these videos almost feel like... people are making fun of them because men can't be affectionate or show affection, especially never towards other men. and if there are clips of them hugging or throwing their arms around each other or kissing on the cheek, then clearly they must be bi or gay like ilya and shane.

and to be clear, i'm not saying there's anything wrong with being gay, or that i know their sexual orientations 100%, but it feels... a little dismissive of what appears to be a really good, sweet friendship. and just another way of saying that if male friends show any sort of affection towarda each other, they must secretly be gay.
