#clearing the queue

Movie summary from IMBD:

In the extremely popular video game, Free City, a NPC named Guy learns the true nature of his existence when he meets the girl of his dreams, a human player. This player's interactions with Guy has massive affects on him, the game, and real world as they play it.

Going into this movie I has mid expectations. I've mostly heard good things, but I'm always wary of AI movies. But I did enjoy this movie, though I don't have a whole late to say about it personally.

I thought the story was well done and good, same with the acting. The sound and editing where both okay.

Let me first say that of The Purge franchise I've only see the original movie, which while interesting was not a movie that I liked a whole lot. I liked that this movie looks more into the socioeconomics of it all. Like it's so much more interesting and thought provoking to me. When I watched the 1st one I spent a lot of time thinking about how I am too poor to survive such a thing.

Here is my ratings for this movie:

The story/writing it did a way better job with the concept then the original. I also found myself rooting for the characters more then I thought I would. Was it cheesy, yes. Was it a great story, no. But it did good job.

The acting in my opinion wasn't good, but it wasn't bad. Like I believe the characters are real enough, but I wouldn't say anyone was good.

Sound mixing is something that I have VERY strong opinions of. I think a lot of movies rely too much on sound to make us the audience feel a certain way, particularly in horror/action/thrillers. I think this movie did a phenomenal job of using it well, but not relaying on it to make me feel a certain way. There wasn't jarring sounds at the jumps, the music wasn't even partially loud until the ending scene as we lead into credits.

The editing was okay, like nothing to write home about in my opinion.
