Not so pretty display of me catching up with my late work 💪

Hey everyone, getting this blog back on now that my classes started again. Im doing my classics major, finally!!!! I need to study everyday now, so get ready for some Daily posts 🫡🫡

Today I caught up with some missing notes and did a text translation for the second time. Still need to read book 3 and 6 from Iliad to tomorrows Homer's class, but thats gonna be done when i get home.

Hi friends! Its been a while!

The second semester of uni just started here in Brazil, and I just had my first week back. In all honesty, I`m not very happy with how I handled the last semester and, even if I did alright overall in terms of grades, I don't think I did my best: my work ethic was pretty bad, I procrastinated a lot and don't really feel like I was the student I was hoping to be.

I plan to do much different this semester. Its the last one of the basic cycle and I need to do very well to ingress on my Greek course next year. This way, I'm planning to do a little study session everyday, even if its only to put my notes down on Notion properly and keep up with the readings. On this first week back, I was successful and I have everything together so far: my Notion is all neat and I'm all done with the readings for this week and the next one, so kudos for me!

I'm planning to do little updates here every week day just to hold myself accountable and do at least a minimum revision everyday.

Some good news from this week: I got to know all my professors and they are great! Classics remains as the best class, obviously, but I'm actually pretty hyped for Lit Studies too (my professor is just wonderful!). Portuguese Studies might be a little tiring and Linguistics still my nemesis, but I'm still excited for this semester (and to finally have a good professor for Linguitics, omfg!).

Also, another nice thing is that I moved my desk to under my window! I mean, it might not be great during summer as sunlight might be too strong, but now I have much more natural light and a lovely view of the sky and of my tree to keep me inspired.

Here's a not-very-pretty sneak peak of my new desk setting and some other things from this first week:

I did my linguistics exam this morning, finished it about two hours ago. Honestly, it was equally harder AND easier than i thought it would be. My professor divided the exam in three parts, one for the theory, one for phonetics and one for phonology. The only one i did more confidently was the phonetic exercises, they were actually kinda fun to do. The other two parts were a nightmare and i completely ignored the phonology bit, really.

Im honestly expecting a terrible grade overall, but im hoping to do well on the phonetics part. I will be happy enough with that.

Nonetheless, this is done now and i dont need to worry about it anymore. And its also a great lesson for myself to create some better study habits and develop my own work ethics properly. There is only one other exam for this class and i will need to do great to pass, so lets say the motivation is right there.

Anyway, now onto other things! I will be here more often now as theres so much more studying i will need to get done for next month!
