I used to work in @nationalgalleryofireland and this is one of my favorite pieces there. The name of the lady escapes me (I wanna say Lady Lafferty or something to that extent ) but basically she and her husband were socialites of the scene at the time and she is dressed here in garb from travels to India, apparently. You can see her husband, the artist painting himself in the background. This canvas is also fucking massive.
