Dr. Barbara Oakley of Learning How to Learn Reflects on Her MOOC and the Book it is based on
In keeping with thoughts I’ve shared in previous posts, I’m in strong agreement with Dr. Oakley about the synergy between texts and MOOCs. I know for me personally, in future MOOCs, when books are recommended or available, I’ll be using them, as my best experience with a MOOC so far has been when I acquired the accompanying text.
I’m also pleased to see her book publisher got on board with embracing and promoting the MOOC. Traditional media historically has separated itself from open content, viewing it as giving away the material for free. Oakley illustrates how both are different, but ultimately complimentary.
