“You’re threatening to kill someone this pregnant?” Juliet questioned critically. “Honestly, Mae. That’s bloody fucked. Even I wouldn’t do that.” Of course, she threatened to kill other people, but she had a perfectly valid excuse these days. “It’s not like I can help being in here.” She continued as she made a wide gesture to the hospital room they were both in. “Do you think I just said, hey, let’s have the babies today and endure hours of pain! That sounds like a jolly good idea.” A scowl rested on the brunette’s features as she childishly avoided looking at her friend.
Juliet rolled her eyes as she wobbled out of the bathroom yet again. “Mae, I have two babies inside me right now. I can barely even breathe and yes, I have to use the loo constantly. So you,” she jabbed a swollen finger in Mae’s direction, “do not get to say ‘finally’ at me.”

“I might have had a few shots.” // “I can’t believe you dragged me into this.” // “You are being ridiculous!”
“You don’t say.” Juliet drawled, opening the door to let the smaller one in. What was it with her friends and showing up drunk at her place? “Bloody fuck, you reek.” Juliet gagged, slamming the door closed behind her. She pointedly put distance between them. “Dare I even ask how you got over here, drunkie?”
“Mae, what these babies listen to while they’re in the womb could affect their learning development! There’s a ton of studies on it, not that you bothered to read any of the last ones I printed out for you.” Juliet glared as she sat on the yoga ball, watching the computer screen. “Think of this as putting your weird taste in music to use for once.”
“Shut up, Mae!” Juliet yelled from behind her bedroom door. She sat on her bed, curled up--or, as close to curled up as one could get when you had a scarily huge stomach. She knew she was being ridiculous and knew that it was the hormones as always, but she wasn’t budging. “And lock the door on your way out, bitch!”
“Can you not?” // "Very cute.” // “What the hell?”
“Mae, I just don’t want to go anywhere!” Juliet explained, completely exasperated. Her mood had been up and down constantly with everything that was going on. Juliet not wanting to go anywhere was very not like Juliet. Juliet Clake always wanted to go somewhere. She was the epitome of a social being. Still, Juliet flopped down on the couch. “I’m not a child, okay? You can’t make me.”
Juliet scrunched up her nose at her friend. She continued to make herself another cup of coffee--she was slowly easing back into regular Juliet behavior. Aside from the clothes. Juliet was always wearing something of Adam’s. “Shut up.” She muttered. She was glad that Mae was back and they had worked things out when they did. Juliet needed her.
“I don’t know, okay?!” Juliet snapped, slightly hysterical. “I don’t know anything right now! All that I know is that my head’s a fucking.... mess! It’s a mess. I’m okay one second, I’m not the next, there’s so many emotions that I’m just--- UGH! And I’m constantly torn between ‘fuck it, I’m moping’ and ‘no, I need to stay strong’. But I’m not sure I can do that. Because that’s my boyfriend out there, alright? My boyfriend. And I go to bed crying anymore and I’m terrified every time the phone rings and I can’t even watch anything but the news anymore! I’m constantly fucking worried! And everything seems really fucking pointless. My writing, my acting, my music.... Everything. Just everything. It’s like I’ve woken up from some long sleep into a stranger’s life. And I just want him back, okay? I want him here and I want him safe. But when I talk to him.... He’s the happiest I’ve ever seen him. He’s so in his element and so confident and that makes me so proud of him and I feel like a selfish bitch for wanting him back here! And I feel like no matter what I do, I’m going to piss someone off and I can’t handle that shit right now. I can’t. I just-- I--- I can’t.”
The silence is deafening. Especially when you compare it to the two girls’ previous work sessions, where they’d talk and laugh and bond over what they’re writing and working on. Now, the only noise being shared is the clicking of the two keyboards.
Juliet knows she’s doing a much better job at this silence thing than Mae is. Or, at least, she appears that she is. And that’s what’s most important. Juliet hadn’t even asked Mae for coffee. She had just sat down with a bought coffee and began to write. Holding a grudge is something that Juliet can do amazingly. She was raised by the queen of cold.
Not that she wants to be anything like her mother.
The hour finishes and Juliet collects her things and goes.
Seer (Future):
She’s pregnant. Juliet’s mind is a mess of thoughts and the only one she can keep coming back to is pregnant, pregnant, pregnant, and how she doesn’t know how to feel about it at all. It’s not like she’s really all that upset-- it’s Adam’s baby. There’s a lot worse things to be than pregnant with Adam’s baby.
She had found out, officially, that morning. Going over to Mae’s was routine. It was work and she needed something to distract her, not like that would be possible. But more than that, there’s a large part of her that needs Mae to be her friend right now. Juliet has way too much pride to beg.
She knocks on Mae’s door as always, and Mae lets her in as always. And they write. The silence is there and only now, Juliet can’t take it.
“Shit- fuck.” She suddenly throws down her laptop and hastily darts towards the bathroom, the small breakfast she had eaten forcing its way back up her throat.
A knock on the bathroom door surprises Juliet and she slowly gets up when she finishes, wiping her mouth to a concerned looking Mae. She looks like she doesn’t quite know what to say. Juliet doesn’t, either, except that her cheeks are flushing out of embarrassment because she just threw up in Mae’s apartment.
“I--.... I brought you some water.”
“....Thanks.”
Mae nods, looking nervous, and Juliet steps out of the bathroom and takes small sips of the water.
“I should probably get going.” Juliet sighs, normal expression back in place.
“Okay.... right.”
Juliet wonders, dimly, if she should tell Mae. God forbid that this throwing up thing becomes normal-- Mae would deserve some sort of explanation.
Except that they’re not friends and Juliet doesn’t want to make an excuse, or make Mae feel like she has to treat her differently.
She ends up saying nothing.
O Juliet:
Juliet loves Mae and considers her one of her first few friends that she made that wasn’t because of her wealth. She always sort of knew her friendship with Mae wouldn’t last; there was a lot of things about their personality that clashed.
Right now, Juliet respects Mae for being able to stand up for herself. She knew that there was a fighter in Mae and if the situation was reversed, Juliet would’ve done the same thing. She misses Mae a lot and can’t currently even watch Harry Potter because she thinks about Mae too much, but she has too much pride to patch things up like she wants to. She knows Mae is in the right.

"To our play!" Juliet shouted. Juliet was a huge fan of celebrating in the moment, which typically meant all her friends and alcohol. Of course, she couldn't celebrate without Mae.
Grinning, Juliet ran over and wrapped her arms around Mae in a quick embrace. She turned to her friends, raising another shot glass high. "And to my lovely mate of a writing partner," Juliet drawled, accent think already with the alcohol already in her system. "Without who I wouldn't be standing here with today."
People clapped and Juliet grinned, downing another shot quickly and turning to Mae. Mae was quiet, an introvert at her core, but Juliet wasn't going to let her not have a good time. "Come on." Juliet demanded, sitting down and facing the other. "It's time to have fun and be young and stupid! Our play is getting put on!"
"I know." Mae laughed. She seemed to be thinking about something pretty deeply.
Juliet sighed. "Alright. Tell me-- what is on your mind? What's preventing you from having a good time?"
"Beauty school."
Juliet's eyebrows rose. "You want to go to beauty school?"
"No. You did, remember? Right before I showed you the letter."
"Oh." Juliet paused. Right, she had forgotten about that. "Sorry?" She questioned, not exactly sure what Mae wanted to hear.
"I just--" Mae sighed. She looked happy and excited, without a doubt, but troubled. Juliet felt like a child about to be scolded. "I need to know you're not going to back out on me. Putting this play on won't always be easy or fun but I need you to do it. You can't do that from beauty school."
Juliet sighed. She was drunk and just wanted to have a good time, but figured Mae needed to be reassured sooner rather than later. "I won't. I don't back out of things, Mae. Or at least, I try not to. I get insecure sometimes and bored and it makes me want to try other things, but I won't flake out on you. I take my responsibilities seriously."
Mae, after a few moments, reluctantly nodded. "Okay. Thank you, Jules."
"Now...." Juliet smiled, grabbing a shot and handing it to Mae. "Party time!"
Mae's a sweet person. Really upbeat, sometimes it's hard to be around because I'm... not. Obviously. She's a good listener and a great writer. I lucked out in getting her as a partner for the competition. I know that if I needed her she'd be there.
