My new bind goes out to quietafterdusk! I loved this story so much it brought me to tears. It was my first time using my airbrush machine and I loved how it turned out.

It's been a while since I've read a ya book that isn't manga and glad to have chosen this to get back into it. Was starting to feel like a bunch if ya were similar that I was getting bored and now I'm back at it. This was a pretty good contemporary book with two teens who were living completely seperate lives after being fatherd by the same guy. When the father dies those they meet and it was just and overall interesting book that was written in verse. ๐ ๐น ๐ ๐บ ๐ ๐ป ๐ ๐ ๐ผ ๐ ๐ท ๐ ๐ฎ ๐ #instabook #bookgram #bookaddict #bookobsessed #booklove #tbr #currentlyreading #bookish #bookblogger #booksbooksbooks #bookstagram #bookporn #booksofinstagram #ilovebooks #bookphotography #igreads #ilovereading #bibliophile #followme #clapwhenyouland https://www.instagram.com/p/CEUYpZfgh9t/?igshid=adrw0wghuznp

Capturing Culture: The Inspiration Behind a Scene in "Under The Flamboyant Tree"
๐ณโจ Inspired by Elizabeth Acevedo's "Clap When You Land," one of the scenes in my upcoming novel, "Under The Flamboyant Tree," captures the bittersweet emotions of returning home. For Isabella, the sound of clapping as the plane lands is bittersweet...
Today, I want to share a special moment from my upcoming novel, โUnder The Flamboyant Tree,โ and the inspiration behind it. As a Dominican author, I often draw from my cultural experiences to create authentic and relatable stories. One such inspiration came from Elizabeth Acevedoโs โClap When You Land.โ A Beautiful Moment: Clap When You Land Elizabeth Acevedoโs โClap When You Landโ beautifullyโฆ

Clap When You Land by @acevedowrites is one of my favourite books I read in 2022 I had no idea that I would love it so much, especially because the format of this book is so different, it has verses instead of paragraphs. I almost didn't read it because of the different format but thankfully I got the audiobook for it and it was just so amazing! โจ Q: Have you read Clap When You Land by @acevedowrites? โจ [Tags: #clapwhenyouland #clapwhenyoulandelizabethacevedo #elizabethacevedo #camino #yahaira #sisters #planecrash #standalone #poc #pocauthors #pocbooks #booksrecommendations #mustreadbooks #mustread #audiobooks #paperbacks ] https://www.instagram.com/p/CmCrlGcr0Ex/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
โ๏ธClap When You Landโ๏ธ . โFight until you canโt breathe, & if you have to forfeit, you forfeit smiling, make them think you let them win.โ . I donโt think I need to provide a summary for this book at this point so Iโll be brief. This story follows two sisters who do not know about each other but are brought together after their father is killed in a plane crash. This novel-in-verse jumps between one sister in NYC and the other in DR as they cope with, not only the loss of their father but also the mere existence of the other. . I needed an e-book to read in bed when I couldnโt sleep so I finally picked this one up. Just like The Poet X by the same author, I was amazed at how much emotion and complexity was conveyed with so few words. This is definitely a character-driven story and I loved getting to know the sisters and seeing their similarities and differences. I am still thinking about the differences between the sisters that exist because of privilege and what causes those privileges to exist. I donโt think itโs a secret that I like reading about complicated family dynamics and this definitely gave me that. I do think Caminoโs story and POV was a bit more intriguing than Yahairaโs but I still really enjoyed both. If youโre looking for a quick but impactful read and havenโt picked this one up, I highly recommend it. . #ClapWhenYouLand #Contemporary #YA #ElizabethAcevedo #BookReview #BookRecommendations #BookBlogger #BookBlog #BookishCommunity #Bookstagrammer #Bookstagram #Bibliophile #BookishLoveGroup #BookishLove #ReadersOfInstagram #Reader #Books #Book #Bookworm #Bookish #BookNerd #InstaBook #BooksOfInstagram #BookPhotography #Read #BookLove #BooksBooksBooks #InstaBooks #IGReads #BookCommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/CQZKtMarJTA/?utm_medium=tumblr

Don't say I don't spoil you... ๐ You'll be forgiven for thinking I'm absent here for lack of reads to share. Au contraire! Reading is, in fact, one of the things keeping me away. I'm currently co-hosting a Carnegie book club irl, for halflings of target audience age. I find, so far, that the YA, teen, and children's reads are affecting me far more than those they're designed to captivate. And, they are *really* not into fiction in verse... ๐ 'Clap When You Land' is the second Acevedo I've read. Last year I enjoyed 'The Poet X', which is about a girl finding strength as a poet. CWYL is not about poetry; it is about a plane crash and grief shared across an ocean. Yes, it is written in free verse. But mostly, it is prose split into formless poetry, breaking over lines. Whilst I cannot say it is a linguistic delight crafted consciously, line by line, moments of pure poetry surface amongst the surf. And on those lines I linger. ๐ Mostly, I think that the space between the words is needed for the audience that shuns it. To explore a topic weighted with real-life loss, prejudice, and inequality, maybe we need the room for silence on the page. Though I enjoyed this less than 'The Poet X', which itself was solid but not mind-blowing, I will never not celebrate texts that play with words in their own way. I don't care what the halflings say, I love me a verse novel. ๐ฏHave you read this one?
