this week has been an incredible week i must say. i was accepted into the international citylore documentary institute which started this monday august 12th. the workshops/screenings/talk have been beyond incredible. i have met
marilyn nance- photographer for fela, ghanian culture in queens
amy toensing national geographic photographer
leon gast- academy award winning director of "when we were kings"
benh zeitlin- director of beast of the southern wild
dave isay- founder of storycorps
ram devanini -director of human tower
michael kamber- conflict photographer & co-ed of bronx documentary center
the list goes on. we have learned from people making art for 10-40 years. i have been inspired to make movies and learn multimedia media story telling. learning
need access to subject
have tenacity to get projects done
believe in yourself even when others dont and criticize your work.
i realized how big of a deal this was when people stated traveling from brazil, chile, nova scotia, chicago, california, missouri, etc. to be here. there are radio, multimedia photographers, filmmakers present.
thankful to the universe for this opportunity and citylore for putting this interdisciplinary institute together. they have thought about what we need as artist and put it together. looking forward to production and learning the equipment for the last 2 weeks.
