Disappearing on him for months - while typical from Clint, it still hurt at the end of the day. James eyed the other with a stare – no, a barely held back glare – from the slight opening of the door. Sure, he could close it, call it a day and go back to the nap that had been so abruptly disturbed, but seeing that the archer had made the effort to show at his doorstep, part of him felt terrible to just walk away. Plus, the blonde wasn't wrong, Alpine did miss him, but it'd be a lie to agree that she missed him more than the soldier did.
Not that he was ever going to say that out loud. Nope.
Heavy was the sigh that left him as he opened the door, giving a wordless tilt toward the inside of his apartment, an invitation to come in before he walked away, toward the kitchen. He figured that he might as well get some coffee going, no way in hell he'd be able to go back to sleep properly with Clint around.
" I'll get you a towel so you don't drip rain everywhere. " He spoke, barely audible but loud enough that the other could hear him as he pressed the coffee machine's start button, only for him to wander off toward the bathroom for a few moments before coming back with a towel, stopping a few steps away from the archer. James would then hold it out, waiting for the other to take it from him.
" You better have a good explanation, y'know. For all of it. "
