Bette Davis as a child, on the right, with her sister Bobbie on the left, sitting in the lap of their father, Harlow Davis, circa 1913. He left the family when Bette was seven, and she and her sister were raised by their mother. Bette remembered her father being cold and distant. They had few meetings over the years following her parent's divorce and her father didn't support her acting ambitions and insisted she would never be a success. It was his lack of support that motivated Bette to succeed and prove him wrong.
