Like yes, he accepts hugs, small touches, etc. . . from the members, and close family but it isn't close to being clingy. He doesn't want to sound rude, but he likes his personal space ─ which everybody understands. But that had surprised you when you first met him cause you actually thought he would be the type to be clingy like your close friend, Sunoo.
Jungwon was sitting on a sofa in the dressing room, hearing how everyone was already leaving the stadium along with the staffs walking past the room. He sank into the couch as he was stretching, relieving all the stress he had done on stage. But he was happy that he made people smile, cheerful, and most of all ─ having fun during the show.
Jungwon hasn't seen you in months, yet your voice always appears in his head like a replayed song. Every time he opens his camera roll, there are always pictures of you that pops up first in the photo library. He hates the feeling of being impatient. He couldn't wait, and he sure doesn't want to wait another four months to see you either.
"Jungwon, you got a visitor." one of the members called out. He was confused as he heard them, but he got up and walked over towards the members direction.
Jungwon walked inside an empty lounge area where the members stood, "Who is it?-" Jungwon turned his head to a surprise, causing him to smile ─ exposing his dimples.
"Jungwonnie!" you exclaimed as you ran to wrap your arms around him. Your guys' hug lasted more than a few seconds before you guys moved away.
Before Jungwon say anything, he waited for the members to walk away so you guys could have space. When they did, he turned to face you, "When did you get here?" Jungwon cocked his head to the side curiously.
"I arrived a few hours before the concert. I wanted to come here to surprise you!" You placed your suitcase to the side but before you could turn to face him fully, he had already wrapped his arms around you, making you gasp in suprise.
You felt his nose brush against your neck along with his fingertips caressing your back. "I've missed you so much." his voice was soft, ─ barely a whisper as his lips brushed against your neck.
Your lips curved into a smile before you placed a long, sweet, tender kiss on his forehead. "I've missed you too, wonnie."
He didn't want to leave your side just yet. He wanted this moment to last longer ─ forever. Hes happy that you're back with him ─ by his side. He's just happy that he gets to feel your warm touch even if he doesn't like very close proximity, but you made him this way ─ clingy I should say.

📼 Rose's Note: I infact did post this early. I JUST WANTED IT TO BE POSTED LOL. I am so so SO so so sorry for taking so long to finish this. I keep saying excuses, but I have never done a big project like this for a ff so I'm inexperienced and I was very nervous (IDK HOW TO EXPLAIN IT). So this is my first ever long fic! During the process I had got a lot of help from my sister and my mootie, @kongjjen and it helped me so much and even improved some of my writings. THANK YOU SO MUCH BUNNY 😭😭😭 This has a few suggestive scenes, but they aren't explicit, but you get the point of how it would end up (so use your imagination). I know the title track 'Don't Go' came out in 2020 but it's what I was mostly inspired by besides 'Regular' era! And when reading this, I hope you guys understand the vibe of the story where it's supposed to be like a block buster action movie. And one last thing, you guys can send asks for mini scenes for the fic if you want! Just don't send asks to make smut but it can be suggestive. I will also post pt2 tomorrow! But I hope you enjoy the fic!!!
THE DAY BEFORE THE RACE | LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, SUMMER 2018 - 11:28 P.M
As Taeyong was leaning in front of his car hood, he observed the area as there were people walking past by, trying to get into a club that was not too far ahead from him, while others were in the alleyways making out or getting drunk. Taeyong felt impatient as he was tapping his feet on the ground.
"Where the hell is he?" he mumbled to himself, turning his head in different directions as he was trying to look for someone.
A bright radiance had cast over his eyes, blinding him as it made him move his hand to his eyes in an instinct to block the sudden bright light. He finally came to his senses and noticed that it was a car rolling up towards his direction. He got on his feet, and waited for the people inside to get out of the car.
"Lee Taeyong, have you finally got what I have been wanting?" a man spoke up as he was getting out of the car.
"Yes, I have everything here." Taeyong said as he handed over a black duffel bag to one of the guards that was standing by the man.
The guards handed it over towards the man, which he had unzipped to see that it had been stashed with money. The man looked up at Taeyong.
"It's all here." The man said as he was scanning the money from the bag then back at him. "You will get your money at tomorrow's race. You will be granted five hundred grand." The man's lip curved into a slight smile, causing Taeyong to raise a brow in confusion.
"Five hundred?" Taeyong repeated his words. "What's so important about this race?"
"All I can say is that this one will have more spectators than usual and you know, we will get more cash." The man gestured his hand, demonstrating the imaginary money.
"You never even mentioned this before – or who I am even racing up against. This could mess up this whole plan." The man just walked towards Taeyong and gave him money that was rolled up in a rubber band, which he had already predicted that it's the usual amount he gets from every race.
The man placed his hand on Taeyong's shoulder, and let out a chuckle, "I know you. You will win like you will usually do."
Taeyong watched as the man and the guards disappeared into the car, but the window in the backseat had rolled down enough for him to see the man.
"I changed my mind." The man turned his head towards Taeyong, making him confused. "Listen, if you win this time, you would receive enough money to get the hell outta Los Angeles, and away from all of this. But if you lose, you still gotta pay the time — this is the only opportunity I will give you to become a free man. So, don’t fuck it up." Taeyong just stared at the man, still processing everything before the windows had rolled up.
The car disappeared into the freeway, leaving Taeyong lost in his thoughts as he looked at the money.
Taeyong couldn't help but think it's false hope that the man had made him picture in his head, making him believe that it would be that easy to get out of Los Angeles. The man is mysterious and unsuspecting, he could not believe a single word from him — his lies and excuses. That's what gets inside Taeyong’s head, making him overthink everything.
But whatever he does, just hopefully that this would be the last race. Only one race to go and he will get his ticket to get the hell away from everything and everyone he is distancing himself away from.
Will he become a free man?
NEOZEN COLLEGE OF LOS ANGELES - 11:22 A.M
You were sitting by yourself in a library during study hour, scribbling notes down on your notebook with your mechanical pencil while flipping through the pages in the book that was placed beside you. You’ve spent hours in the study hall trying to finish this assignment which will make you feel uncomfortable if you hadn’t finished it sooner.
After you finished reading the page that you paused on, you took your time stretching after sitting for what seems like hours trying to finish writing in that notebook. You examined the library, and noticed that there were more people who had arrived.
When you heard the door open from the other side of the library, your head snapped towards that direction to see two familiar figures. The figures were scanning the room until they noticed you, and approached you, with one of them having a laptop in his hands along with books placed on top of it, while the other one only had his backpack.
“Finally I have found you.” Your friend, Ten, said as he rested his laptop on the table and sat beside you. You looked at him in confusion with a brow raised.
“What do you mean?” you responded
“We need to talk to you about something.” Your other friend, Johnny spoke up as he sat beside Ten as he turned his whole attention to you, making you feel uneasy.
“Like?” You said as you waited for their response.
“Will you be able to come to the race?” you rolled your eyes to what seems like it was at the back of your skull, and let out an annoyed sigh.
“Not this again. Guys, don’t you see that I have more important things to do like finishing up this assignment? You keep telling me this every time and the answer will be the same-”
“Just hear me out, Y/n. Please?” you stared at Ten while having your arms crossed, leaning against your chair as you waited for an answer. “Okay. Please make it to this race because this will be my last one I will attend anyways. This race is really big to me and I really want you to be there with me so I won’t be lonely.”
“Don’t you have Johnny to be there with you though?”
“Yeah, he will be there but he will be busy a lot throughout the event. Do you really want to stay inside with a boring life – as in studying for so long and not doing anything fun.”
“Because I-” You couldn’t finish your sentence since Ten interrupted what you were trying to say.
“But don’t you ever want a break? Like a long break away from all of that stress? Please just come to this one and you won’t have to worry about going ever again. I just want you to be there with us.”
You still had your arms crossed, debating whether or not you should actually go. You weren’t a big fan of races – especially since it’s illegal. You didn’t want to get involved with anything that could break the law and even so, getting injured. Maybe it was just you overthinking and watching too many action movies and just thinking the worst – but logically speaking, going to a race like that could possibly send you and your friends to jail since it is an illegal race. But maybe one race isn’t too bad?
You exhaled and finally gave in, “Fine.” Ten’s lips curved into a smile as his arms wrapped around you, happy that he had finally persuaded you.
“Thank you!” Ten squeezed you a little tighter.
“Okay, okay! You can let go.” You giggled, causing one of the staff that was walking past to hush the two of you .
Once she had finally walked away, you and Ten tried quieting down your laughs.
“Alright, guys.” You looked at Johnny, who had his hand up trying to get your attention. “I will drive you there so you don’t have to worry about the ride part. And Y/n, don’t have to overdress yourself – wear something casual.” you nodded. “And like how Ten said, I will be busy meeting up with some people. So, you guys can chill and just watch the race.”
“Alright.” you nodded again. Ten turned to you as his lips curved into a proud smile as if he achieved the most impossible mission.
A FEW HOURS LATER – 9:48 P.M
You were sitting in a car, leaning against a car door, with the windows rolled down enough for the air to come out as you were looking outside of it. The radio was playing faintly, but you could still remember what the melody was from a far distance. You watched as the car passed by buildings, letting the neon lights dance in the car.
Ten was driving in the front seat, both of his hands on the steering wheel, keeping his eyes on the road, but then his attention drifted to the rear-view mirror where he could see your reflection.
He could see your soft face expression being focused on the view beside you. His lips curved to a light smile before he focused back on the road.
“I saw you looking at me.” You spoke up, making him chuckle.
“I'm seeing if you had fallen asleep since you always do.” He said as he was turning the car in a different direction.
“Even if I did fall asleep, it's because the setting feels perfect, you know.”
“Laying in the backseat with cool air blowing on you?”
“Mhm.” You nodded as you smiled at his response. “Feels nostalgic.”
“Couldn't agree less.” you chuckled at his response before looking back at the window.
You could see Ten turning into a large parking lot that was filled with people gathering around together to either spectate the race, or with racers who had just arrived to wait.
You and Ten stepped out of the car before you closed it with Ten locking the doors from behind using the remote, before he started walking ahead. The chilly breeze brushed against your skin along with lights from the cars illuminating on you, making you glow.
"Ten, are you sure nothing bad is going to happen here?" you questioned your friend as you were walking towards a large parking lot. It was a pretty dumb question to ask but you felt uneasy rather than excited to see your first race.
"Yes, I'm sure." Ten reassures you, trying to help make you not think pessimistically. "If you really don't like it here, we can take you back ho-"
"No," You cut him off, "what would be the whole point of begging me to come here then? I will just stay to watch at least one race." you crossed your arms.
"Alright then. I promise you, nothing is going to happen." Ten flashed a smile and gently rubbed your shoulder to calm you down.
"But you still gotta help me on my assignment since you dragged me all the way here when I'm supposed to be asleep." Your lips curved into a smile.
"Oh, is it past your bedtime?" Ten cooed teasingly, voice filled with sarcasm as it made you cringe out. You could only roll your eyes as a response.
The sound of a car engine pulled up from behind the two of you, interrupting you and Ten's conversation as it made both of you heads snap towards the sound, moving to the side as it showed a familiar figure.
"Look what I got." Johnny wiggled his eyebrows while leaning back on the car seat, pressing down on the accelerator.
"Johnny, what do you mean that fuckin’ Lexus is yours?" Ten walked towards the window, jaw dropped by the sudden surprise.
“Jaehyun helped trade a lot for this. This even has higher horsepower." Johnny had a stupid, wide grin spread across his face, feeling proud as it made Ten feel envious.
You leaned forward by the window, scanning the backseat. "How is that even possible? That car costs more than an average house."
"Jaehyun knows rich people who prefer older cars rather than the newer models."
"Now you can finally take us places." Ten joked, causing him and Johnny to chortle.
You tilted your head to the side to see that there were other cars trying to get past, "Johnny, you have to park somewhere. People are coming in this direction."
"Alright. See you guys in a few minutes." Johnny rolled the windows up and started driving away.
AN HOUR BEFORE THE RACE
Taeyong walked towards his car, a black Nissan GTR R35 that was parked by a sidewalk outside of the area. He opened the car door, and rested on the driver's seat. He took out his phone and bluetoothed it to the car so it would be able to connect the GPS system on the screen.
As he was waiting, letting the map load on the screen, a figure leaned their arm by the window, "You ready?" the male scanned inside of his car then back at him.
Taeyong sighed, "Yeah." he responded softer than usual.
"Hey, you alright?"
"I'm alright. Just thinking." Taeyong leaned back onto the seat while looking out through the windshield.
The man opened the car door and sat on the passenger seat. "What's on your mind? Talk to me."
It took a second for Taeyong to find the right words, leaving his lips apart. "It's just…about the race. Something just feels off tonight." Taeyong turned his head towards the guy, "Like as if something bad might happen."
The male patted his shoulder. "You're probably just thinking pessimistically. I can't make any promises, but I can assure you that nothing bad is going to happen. It's like any other race but instead it's with more loads of cash, and you claim a title."
Taeyong let out a sigh, "But honestly I don't even want the title. There are like thousands of other people trying to compete for that title." Taeyong combed his hair with his fingers in distress.
"Then just win it for the money. You could do so much with five-hundred grand."
Taeyong nodded his head, "But what do I do with the title as “legendary racer”?"
“Keep it. You’re already everybody’s favorite. Everyone looks up to you as if you are their role model. And I think that’s cool to think that everybody would be inspired by someone like you.” Taeyong sat there for a few moments thinking about his response. Tayeong glanced at the GPS system on the monitor, which loaded into a new tab, showing a location.
“Jaehyun, what time does your shift end?” Taeyong questioned as he looked down at his phone that had a character connected to it.
“Ten-fifty. Why?” he responded confused.
“Because I need you to help me, and it involves doing something during the race.” Jaehyun’s brows furrowed at his response, finding his idea suspicious.
“And what do you mean by that?” He was left ignored as Taeyong was scavenging in the backseat for something.“Taeyong, no. I won’t do anything that will make you cheat in the race, or even so, get you killed.”
Taeyong pulled out an equipment, a medium-sized nitrous oxide tank to be exact, “I need you to trust me on this. After this, you don’t have to worry about me doing anything else.” Jaehyun observed the tank before letting out a stressed sigh.
“Fine, only this time. You know if this plan goes south even the slightest, the police and boss will be on your ass.”
“That’s why I need your help. I could have done it myself but I need to make this perfect.”
Jaehyun pulled out his phone and opened the GPS tab on his to set a location.
“Not over there. Over by the freeway.”
“No, I am not trusting you to drive there. There are shortcuts you can take besides going through traff-”
“Just trust me. I know what I will be doing.” Jaehyun sighed again before clicking his tongue.
“I can’t believe I am doing this.” Jaehyun mumbled to himself.
—
After about an hour, you and your friends waited for the biggest moment – the final race of the night. Even though you promised yourself it would only be one race, you ended up watching the whole thing anyway. When you and Ten were waiting for Johnny to park his car, Ten explained that the reason why this is a big event is because whoever wins this race will claim the title as the best racer in Los Angeles. And so, Ten and Johnny placed their bets on one of the drivers, Lee Taeyong.
You were standing outside where everyone else was spectating, watching the cameras that were placed into the cars as it was being displayed onto the advertisement board from outside. Two racers were already driving away from the streets, leaving everyone chatting with each other while waiting for the last match.
Johnny excused himself through the crowd, hitting everyone's shoulders while apologizing for his behavior, trying to go towards your guys direction.
When he made it next to you and Ten, Johnny passed both of you water bottles and a small bag of Starburst candies, "I got some when I was over by the vending machine. I heard that Sim Jaeyun lost against Choi San."
Ten took one of the water bottles and removed the cap, "Yep, that dude is crazy. He freakin' was speeding through the highway like a madman." Ten shook away the uncomfortable thought of him imagining how badly Jake’s aftermath looked like.
"That was so cool though." you said as your eyes never left the parked cars. You took the Starburst candy onto the palm of your hand, and shared it with them.
"Everyone, please make your way towards the exit. We are going to be located at a new destination. I repeat, please make your way towards the exit." a female instructed over the speaker.
Everyone started to get up to leave the area along with the three of you, "Are you guys ready?" Ten turned towards you and Johnny .
"Wait, does that mean I have to drive you guys?" Johnny added.
"Yeah since we are moving somewhere else. So like I mean — one of us has to drive Y/n ‘cause I'm not leaving my car here." Ten grabbed his car keys from his pocket.
"I will go with Ten." You blurted out. Ten shot a proud smile.
Johnny just stared at you both, but then he just shrugged. "Alright then. See you guys soon.”
“See ya!” Ten waved at Johnny, only getting a small nod in return. You both watched as Johnny disappeared into the crowd. “Wait — I forgot to ask Johnny where we are going to be located.”
“We could ask one of the staffs about it.” you suggested. Ten sighed as he looked at the lock screen on his phone. “Come on. Let’s ask one of them.”
“Alright then.” Ten turned off his phone, rested it in his pocket before he started to walk forward- making you follow along
“Ten!” someone shouted from a distance, causing him to snap his head towards the familiar voice.
“Jaehyun! I thought you’re supposed to be leaving soon?” Ten approached Jaehyun.
“I’m staying for Taeyong’s race.” Jaehyun’s eyes drifted around the area until it landed on your figure next to him. “Who’s she?”
“That’s Y/n – the one I have been mentioning lately.” you raised a brow at Ten. “Okay, before you say anything, it’s nothing negative.”
Jaehyun chuckled, “Nice to meet you, Y/n.” He reached his hand out, offering you to shake in a polite way, which you shook along.
“You too, Jaehyun.” your lips curved into a smile. Both of you took a few seconds looking at each other until Ten pulled you away.
“Anyways,” Ten placed you beside him. “Since you are a staff member, where are you gonna be located? Because they didn’t say where.”
“We are being located by the plaza where the mini stores are at.”
“Oh, alright.” Ten took out his car keys, “Do you want a ride?”
“No, I'm fine. I have to be with Taeyong.”
“Alright. See you later.” Jaehyun nodded before he walked away.
“Seems like Jaehyun is close with the racer.” You spoke up as you watched Jaehyun’s figure disappear.
“I mean like – he is a staff here so of course he will be close with him. But anyways – are you ready though?” Ten turned his head to face you.
You nodded. “Yeah. I’m ready.”
10 MINUTES BEFORE THE RACE
Taeyong’s car pulled up at the location, hearing everyone chatting in the distance as it blended in with his car engines. His clammy hands rested on the steering wheel, fingers tapping on it anxiously as he was thinking about it – thinking about the plan that he made with Jaehyun. He caught his reflection through the rear-view mirror, his fierce gaze. Taeyong pushed back his blonde bangs, and glanced outside of the window where he could spot Jaehyun talking to other staff members.
From the corner of his eyes, he spotted a cute female anime character pop up on the infotainment system, displaying a text box that showed the amount of minutes before the race started – which he had less than five minutes left. Taeyong took out a piece of candy – a Jolly Rancher from a small bag, unwrapped it, and popped it in his mouth – sucking on the hard candy, tasting the sweet but sour cherry flavor from it.
“Taeyong, are you ready?” Jaehyun’s voice could be heard over the speaker in his car.
“Yeah.” Taeyong answered without hesitation.
“Alright. Remember, If anything happens back there, I will be over there immediately. Just make sure you are fully prepared because I don’t want this to be half-assed.”
“Okay, okay. I understand.” Taeyong rolled his eyes as his hands pressed against the steering wheel.
“I’m just making sure that you understand the situation that you’re in. But I will come back once the race starts.” Jaehyun disconnected from the channel.
Taeyong shifted the gear-stick in drive while he rested his foot on the pedal, and started driving towards the starting line.
As he was waiting for the other racers to appear, his eyes drifted around the area – observing how everyone was interacting with each other. He saw how the racers were lining up, and how everyone was flexing off their cars, but his eyes landed on you.
You were standing next to someone, looking bored rather than excited, unlike some people in the crowd. You had pulled out your phone from your pocket before putting it back in after a few seconds. He quickly snapped out of his gaze when a car engine pulled up beside him, interrupting his train of thoughts.
“Long time no see, Lee Taeyong. Haven’t seen you in years. How has it been?” someone spoke up, causing Taeyong’s lips to curve into a smile when he figured out who it was.
“Haven’t seen you either, Seungcheol. Things have been interesting – what ‘bout you?” Taeyong’s hand rested on top of the steering wheel.
The racer removed the shades that he was wearing, and tucked it into his jacket pocket. “It’s been great. Have you seen Hongjoong recently? I heard that he is going to be racing on these streets with us.”
“Nope. Haven’t seen him in years.” Taeyong looked outside the windshield through which he could see where everyone was gathering around.
“I thought you guys were close. What happened?” Seungchoel questioned curiously.
It took Taeyong a second to respond from recalling what happened over a few years ago – something that he wouldn’t forget but really wished he could. He has always been reckless but until last year, he has been trying to become a changed man and yet, he always gets involved with something bad at the end of the day.
“It’s a bit of a long story. All I can say is that things ended up on bad terms back at the casino.”
“Damn.” Seungcheol glanced at his phone then back at him, ”Wish you luck though.”
“You too.” Seungchoel rolled up his window as Taeyong leaned back in the car seat, waiting for the rest of the players as he was still sucking on the Jolly Rancher.
—
“Now it’s the final moment. Who will be king of the streets?” Ten said as he locked his fingers together before stretching.
“Who is the person that you and Johnny are betting on?” you questioned as you were looking around the area.
“Over there in the black Nissan on the left.” Your eyes drift to the car, noticing the figure in the driver's seat. The man had some of his blonde hair strands over his eyes, flowing from the wind while tapping on the steering wheel rhythmically with his fingers. You’ve found the man very attractive from how he looked so focused.
You were eating some of the Starbursts until you noticed Johnny’s figure going in the middle of you too. “Took you long enough.”
“I forgot to tell you guys, Mark is here right now.” Ten stared at him shocked.
“Wait, he's actually here?!” you interrupted, being surprised.
“Yeah – actually he got a job as a mechanic here.” Your lips curved into a smile by Ten’s response.
You chuckled, “Nothing can take him away from those vehicles.”
“That's his passion. So nothing will get in his way.” Johnny added on.
“Are we able to meet him after the race?” you questioned.
“I can try and ask him, but it all depends since he has to fix one of the player’s cars.”
“Everyone ready?!” A female voice shouted enough to get everyone's attention, interrupting your conversation. “I said, is everyone ready?!” she shouted again, causing everyone to scream in excitement. The woman’s voice was bubbly, and lively, – attracting everyone in the area as she wore a black and grey lace sports bra with a black jacket adorned with pins and a special print, along with a denim skirt.
The screaming caused your hand to go over your ear in instinct, “Holy shit! It’s gonna start!” Ten looked amazed as he was going closer, but something pulled him back.
“Don’t get too close.” Johnny warned him.
“Tonight’s race we have our best racers from this city to compete in the finals! Remember everyone, don’t record the race or else we will ban you from coming here!, – and racers, be safe and of course, have fun! And also, prove to yourselves that you are capable of being king of these streets! Now everyone, get into positions!” the woman grabbed out her flag.
Everyone stood still as they waited for the next few words from the woman. The woman held the rag on the side of her hip, “On your mark!” you could see the racers rolling up a little bit closer to the line. Taeyong took another Jolly Rancher from the bag, and popped it in his mouth, dissolving the cherry flavor in his mouth.
“Set!” car engines started up as Taeyong looked through the rear-view mirror of his car. Taeyong noticed from the side Seungcheol adjusting his sunglasses on.
The woman tugged a smirk, “GO!” Shouted as she waved her flag, signalling them to move ahead.
Everyone's screams blended in with the metal engines, filling the air from the smoke. One of the racers had already used nitrous oxide, going further away from the others – causing Taeyong to let out a small chuckle.
“Too early.” Taeyong mumbled to himself before going ahead of one of the cars.
Your eyes lit up as you watched the cars go by. “Holy shit! That’s so fucking cool!” You said as you watched the cars disappear from the area.
“You're acting like a child right now.” Johnny laughed. You nudged him a little bit.
“Do you not see them?” You glanced at him before looking back at the giant screen. “This is so cool!”
Someone went ahead of Taeyong, causing Taeyong to glance beside him just to see that it was Seungcheol. Seungcheol gave him a nod before he drifted into the open road on the right side. Taeyong chuckled to himself as he was continuing the route that he was on – which led him to downshifting, and making him use his handbrake to turn in an entrance to a highway.
As Taeyong was driving, it made everyone spectating the race gasp as one of the racers tagged along with him on the road.
“Wait – is he even allowed to do that?!” You turned to face Ten and Johnny.
“I'm not sure – but this is new I guess.” Ten said as he had a tighter grip on the candy bag from being anxious.
As cars were slowing down on the road because of traffic, he accelerated through some cars that were in his way, towards the next exit, and drifted into an empty road to catch up with the others.
The racer who was trying to catch up to Taeyong on the highway went in front of him, bumping his car against him. Taeyong’s jaw clenched as he looked through the rear-view mirror to check if there were any more people by him before he drove next to the other racer, giving him a slight smirk before nodding his head to the side, confusing the racer before he focused on the road and drove to a different route.
“That was easy.” Taeyong said to himself as his foot pressed against the pedal.
Without him even paying attention, Seungcheol drove beside him, zig zagging just to get on his nerves.
Taeyong changed channels on the radio to talk with the racer. “You're still the same person that I've known since high school.”
“But if I were you, I'd keep my eyes on the road.” Taeyong added on before going ahead of him.
“Damn.” Seungcheol chuckled to himself, seeing how he knew that Taeyong was already the winner. He didn't mind actually because he knew no matter how hard he tried, he could not beat his friend.
Taeyong pushed the button on his steering wheel, and activated the nitrous oxide, making him go ahead of the racers. He slowed down when he arrived at his destination – the end of the line, making everyone who voted for him cheer. Taeyong got out of his car as he lifted his glass above his head, turning around to see that Seungcheol was second. Taeyong flashed a smile, making the other match his reaction.
Taeyong looked around as he noticed everyone around him seemed happy, making him feel relieved. But it had reminded him how much he was going to miss this feeling. The feeling of knowing that he made people feel excited from adrenaline rushing through them.
The manager came up to him with a bag stashed with money, “The winner of this race is Lee Taeyong!” The man grabbed his hand, and lifted it up, making everyone applaud and whistle.
Jaehyun walked towards Taeyong, and Taeyong knew he was already mad at him – but Jaehyun brushed off the stress, and just placed his hand on his shoulder. “Congratulations.”
“Thanks.” Taeyong let out a light smile before someone wrapped their arm around him.
“Taeyong, we need you in the back.” The person said as they were pulling him away from Jaehyun, making the man confused yet he couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
“But I'm busy-” Taeyong was cut off by the person.
“No, no. You're gonna have to help me.”
“Who said that I am-” before Taeyong could protest, he was already being dragged away from the area.
You followed the men away from the crowd but paused when Ten had stopped his tracks.
“Oh yeah, Doyoung did say he needed our help too.” Ten spoke up, causing you to turn your attention towards him in confusion.
“Alright. Let's go then.” Johnny said as he started walking, making you two tag along.
As you were walking with your friends, you went into an unfamiliar area. It was another garage, but it was mostly for one of the players – Lee Taeyong’s to be exact – where he had parked his car. You could see the beauty of the car more clearly. You could see how the car sparkled from the lights beaming on it, looking brand new as if nothing had hurt it.
“Woah.” You said as you looked at the car. “That’s that one racer’s car?” you questioned as you turned to face Johnny.
“Yep. It’s a beauty, isn’t it?” you nodded to his response as you continued to look at it in awe. But something interrupted your train of thoughts.
“Johnny! You made it.” Someone spoke up, making you face the direction of the voice.
“Yeah. I had to be here to see this one.” Johnny chuckled as he dabbed the other.
The other looked at Johnny for a few seconds before turning his attention towards you. “Is that the one girl you were talking about?” He pointed towards you.
“Yeah, that’s Y/n – the one I've said I have known for a while.” the other nodded.
“I’m Doyoung, Jaehyun’s assistant.” He reached his hand out towards you for a shake, which you shook lightly, earning a light smile from him. “No need to be shy.” Both of you guys chuckled.
“Didn’t you need help, Doyoung?” Johnny quizzed the man.
“Oh, yeah! I need help with the car’s brakes. And Ten, Jungwoo needs help with the laptop again.”
A sigh came from the man, “Alright.” Ten turned to face you. “I’ll be right back. If you need help, call me, alright?”
You nodded your head, “Alright.” and you watched as Ten walked out of the garage, grabbing his phone out from his pocket.
“I have to go as well. You can find your way inside the lounge and wait for us.” Johnny spoke up.
“Where is it?” you questioned.
“Go towards the lobby section and keep going forward. There should be a label by the door.”
“Alright. Thank you.”
“See you in a few.” Johnny waved before walking out with Doyoung
As the men walked out of the garage, you were left alone with the car and the equipment. You observed the area around you, mostly noticing that there were chairs against the wall, tool carts near the car and shelves around the garage. You found a box with different shades of spray paint along with an old, rusty tool box beside it.
“What are you doing over here?” a voice spoke up, causing you to flinch. You swift your body to face the unknown voice – which turned out to be the racer’s, Taeyong.
“Oh, uhm.” You looked around before facing him. “I’m waiting for my friends.”
“You’re not supposed to be here. You don’t work here.” he said coldly before walking past you to get something from the tool box.
“Jeez, sorry.” you mumbled to yourself, knowing that he wouldn’t listen anyways.
You watched as the man opened the car door, and got inside the back of it. He grabbed out a black backpack, went towards the trunk, and placed it inside as he went back towards the car and started scavenging for something else, but something stopped him in his tracks . You could hear a ringer from his phone that was placed beside you, making you move away from it.
“Can you give it to me, please?” he asked.
You grabbed his phone, and tapped his shoulder. He took the phone, and nodded as in saying ‘thank you’ before answering it. He moved away from you, but not leaving the garage fully. Just standing outside as he was taking his call.
After a few minutes you were left alone again. You should have gone towards the lounge by now, but you waited. Waited for the man to finish his call so you hoped that he was able to help you out even though that sounded dumb. But since he didn’t leave the garage, you overheard the conversation since he raised his voice.
“I already got the money, alright! What else do you want?”
“That's not gonna help you right now. Money isn’t the option to escape this. The guards found out you cheated throughout the race. Not to mention, you are also stealing money out of me. What were you gonna do with it? Gonna escape me so easily? Tonight was the night that I was gonna let you be a free man away from this mess, but look what I have to do. I'm gonna take something from you, and just watch you suffer, slowly.”
Taeyong let out a shaky, stressed sigh, rolling his hand into a fist as it was the only thing that could control his anger. Before the man spoke another word, Taeyong hurried up and hung up the phone before leaning over his car, trying to calm himself down from what he had heard on the phone.
As footsteps, your footsteps, echoed throughout the garage, you could hear a loud, annoyed sigh in return.
“What do you want? Why are you still here?” he said annoyedly.
“Are you able to help me find the lounge area–”
“Alright then.” he started to walk towards the garage door, “Come on. You wanna leave or not?”
“Yeah.” You started walking along but then a gun had been fired, causing you to duck. “WHAT THE FUCK?” you screamed.
“DUCK!” Taeyong shouted as he grabbed you by the wrist, and took you behind his car.
Taeyong peeped through the side to see what was happening – more men were storming into the garage. Taeyong popped open his trunk, took out a gun that was placed in the bag that he took out not too long ago, and started shooting at the men.
“Get in the car!” Taeyong commanded you. You didn’t waste a second as you hurried yourself in the car. You bent down so you could shield yourself, and a few seconds later you saw the man rushing inside the car, jabbing his key into the ignition lock before starting it.
When the car started, he switched the gear stick to reverse and placed it to drive. As soon as he placed it in drive, he rushed past guards, and made a rough turn, driving away from the area.
The sounds of the car engine ringed in your ears. Neon lights from the displayed signs, and the street lights danced inside of the car. Your heart felt like it was about to burst out of your chest from being scared – frightened to death. You were panicking a lot, barely able to find yourself to catch your breath as you were trembling in your chair.
“Who are those people?!” you screamed as you looked from your rear-view window on the side of the car, causing you to turn half of your body around to see what was happening behind you.
“Don’t mind them. I can get away.” You looked at him like he was crazy. How can he act so normal – so chill in a situation like this? Like as if you ain’t about to get shot up at.
“How can I not mind? They are on our ass-”
You were interrupted by bullets shooting through the window, causing both of you to duck. “Shit!” he screeched. Taeyong turned his steering wheel in a different direction, making him turn the car into the wrong entrance on the freeway. “Fuck! I went towards the wrong entrance. Shit!” He bumped his hand on the wheel.
Since the window rolled down, the cold, heavy breeze brushed against your skin as Taeyong was speeding through the freeway. You put your hands over your face in an instinct, trying not to look at what was happening.
“Put this over you and lay low.” He used one hand to take off the extra layer on him – his jacket, and placed it over you, trying to distract you from the fact that your lives are on the line. You had swallowed the lump in your throat as you were trying to calm yourself down.
“ae- TAEYONG!” a familiar voice spoke through the speaker in the car. Taeyong's hands were struggling to turn the volume knob up until he forced, being able to hear the other more clearly.
“What is it, Jaehyun?!” Taeyong yelled as he felt his hands becoming clammy on the steering wheel.
“Where the fuck are you?! You’ve lost signal on the map-”
“I know!-” Taeyong shouted.
“And you took one of the spectators with you! Do you not know much trouble you will get us in-”
“I don’t fucking care about that right now!” Taeyong’s hand slammed against the steering wheel. “We’re getting shot up at, and you care about if we get in trouble?”
“Just tell me where you are!”
You turned to see your surroundings only to see that police cars were catching up to you guys. “I hate to interrupt your guys’ argument, but there are cops chasing us too!”
Taeyong paused mid sentence and looked through his rear-view mirror. You can see how his brows furrowed in anger as he pressed the button on his steering wheel, accelerating through the freeway.
“Call me back when you are safe, Taeyong!” Jaehyun said before he hung up on the other side.
“Shit! What do we do?! He was probably our only option!-” you were freaking out but Taeyong rested his hand on your shoulder to face him.
“Listen!” Taeyong kept turning back to face you then the road, “We can do this ourselves. Right now, just stop freaking out and trust me!”
“How can I trust you?! We barely know each other-”
“Just trust me! I’m not going to do anything!” He made you think about it. You were scared for your life and almost getting killed because of him, or who knows if he will kill you. Then again, he literally helped you out back at the garage. “Do you trust me or not?!”
You didn’t know how to feel. You barely even knew him for 30 minutes, and he is asking you to trust him? Anything else besides getting shot at could possibly happen, and he still wants you to trust him.
What could you even do in this situation?
But you gave in, “Yes, alright! Just take us out of here!”
“Okay then.” Taeyong zig-zagged in between cars, trying to confuse the cops – which worked as planned because the cops went after a different car, giving him enough time to go towards the next exit off of the freeway.
THE NEXT DAY – 11:54 A.M
A loud sound – a car horn went off in the distance, causing you to snap out of your sleep. Your heart felt like it was gonna burst out of your chest as ringing echoed throughout your eardrums.
“Rise and shine, princess.” Your eyes drifted around the unfamiliar area until it landed on a figure driving, causing you to avert your gaze away from him.
“Guess it wasn’t a dream.” you mumbled to yourself, cringing from realization of the given pet name as you looked outside the window, seeing as he was driving past buildings in the area.
“Of course it wasn’t a dream.” he said as his attention never left the road. “This is reality and you have to face it. And by the way, congratulations for making it on the news.”
Even though you could clearly hear the sarcasm from his tone, you turned your attention towards him. “What the hell do you mean by “congratulations for making it on the news?””
“Everyone is searching for you.” your eyes widen from his response.
“I don’t know who the hell you are but you better-”
“I better what? I can’t take you back if that’s what you’re asking.” You leaned in closer when he reached the traffic light.
“Take me back now!” you raised your voice – which had only made him chuckle, finding it rather amusing, then taking it seriously from the way you were acting. “I’m being serious!”
“You know, if I take you back home then the police will be searching for you. Chances are that you will be sent to prison.” You felt your jaw tighten hearing his response, making your hand roll into a fist. “Be grateful that I even took you away from this mess ‘cause if you were there,” he let out a scoff, “you would already be dead.”
You looked at him in disbelief, but you fixed your position and leaned against the window. You had to face reality. You were in the middle of a fight that caused you to almost get yourself killed but thankfully that man – who is named Taeyong – had come for your rescue. Yet, you have nowhere else to go besides keeping it on the low. But then again, he will be the one who will get blamed if you get hurt or kidnapped since those men were going after him and not you.
“What do you want for breakfast?” he spoke up, interrupting your thoughts as his eyes never left the road.
Your eyes landed on the screen that displayed the time, “It’s already past breakfast hour-”
“There are shops that are still open that still sell them at this hour. So, what do you want?”
You slightly shrugged, “I’m not sure.”
“Do you like french toast?” he suggested.
You nodded lightly, “Yeah, I like french toast.”
“Good. There's a place I know that still sells them for brunch.” you nodded at his response.
AT THE DINER – 12:06 P.M
Taeyong had driven up to a small diner. When you had left the car and went inside the building, you were welcomed by the comfortable atmosphere – a chiller breeze from the AC, and it felt very relaxing and cozy. Taeyong was at the cash register, ordering as you found your way to an empty table, waiting for him to finish.
When he had finished, he sat across from you, “We can’t do takeout cause I don’t want my car to get dirty.”
“But your car already got shot up at-” Taeyong had shushed you before you could finish your sentence.
“How about we get to know one another, hmm? What’s your name at least since I didn’t get the chance to ask?”
“Y/n.” his lips tugged into a smile.
“Pretty name for someone so judgmental.” you glared at him. “Or do you only act like that in front of me?”
“Because I don’t know you or what you're gonna do with me. I don’t know if you’re gonna kill me-” He had shushed you.
“Keep it down, will ya? You're saying that in front of everyone.” You only stared at him. He looked around making sure no one was overhearing, feeling relieved that no one had overheard you two, “No, I am not a killer. I am like any average kid who gets in trouble for small shit – like street racing. Nothing worse.”
“You’re not even a kid.” you corrected him, but it made him chuckle from your attitude.
“I know – but you get what I mean. Just someone who messes up everything.” he sighed out, sounding like it was to himself while he rested his palm against his cheek, having his elbow to help support his balance on the table. “But Y/n, what do you do for a living?”
You crossed your arms as you were looking over by the front desk, “I go to college.”
“Major?” he quizzed.
“Film and cinema. I am there for photography.” he nodded as a light smile appeared.
“That was unexpecting. I thought you would go there for business or something. Maybe a lawyer to be exact.”
“What makes you think that?” you questioned as you were being interested in his answer.
“You got a pretty face. A bossy one.”
You leaned back on the chair with your arms crossed in front of your chest. “I can’t tell if this is your way of flirting with me or–”
“I’m actually being serious. You seem to like firing back at people.”
“I don’t-” you cut yourself in mid-sentence as you realized what you were about to say. It pissed you off since you knew he was right. So, you drifted your attention away from him, causing him to smirk, but he didn’t say anything.
“Don’t worry. You’re not my type anyways.” he spoke up before he turned his attention towards the TV from across the room, making you look at him confused, but you didn’t bother saying anything else.
After about fifteen minutes, you had your orders served as Taeyong made small talk with the waitress before giving his attention back to the food on the table that was getting cold.
“Do you do anything else besides street racing?” You broke the silence as he glanced at you.
“I work as a mechanic – nothing too special.” His hands locked together as it reached over the table.
“The one where everyone was at?”
“What do you mean?” He threw a confused look at you, not understanding what you had meant.
“The race event where the racers were.”
“No, not there. Somewhere else.”
“Oh.” You said as you nodded. “I'm surprised the police never suspected that area.”
“They have. Multiple times, but we always leave before the police come.”
“Oh.” You have noticed that Taeyong kept looking in a specific area, the wall while fidgeting his fingers.
“I'm going to go and get some air.” Taeyong said as he sat up, and moved away from his seat. You watched as he walked out of the diner, but you continued eating.
When Taeyong went outside, he went inside of the car and sat down in the front seat as he leaned back in it, letting out a stressed sigh.
Taeyong was confused.
He really didn't know what he was doing at this point. He thought to himself saying things like why did he let you tag along? He is supposed to be protecting himself but somehow you're just there. He's giving you food and everything yet he is confused.
Without thinking, he grabbed out his keys and turned them into the ignition. It took you a few glances before taking a full look at how Taeyong was reversing his car. You hurried up and grabbed your belongings before you ran out of the shop.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!” You shouted as you were running towards the car, but he ignored your figure.
What the hell are you doing?
Yeah, what the actual fuck is he doing. He's literally leaving you behind.
Oh, he's fucked.
Before you could catch up, the car disappeared with the rest of the cars on the streets. You groaned as your hands flew towards your hair, grabbing a fist-full of it as you were stressed.
“That fucking bustard! Shit!” You started walking inside of the building to go towards the table to make sure that your food was paid, which that bustard didn't.
You flipped your backpack in front of you to grab out your purse and you paid for the meals, even giving the waitress a tip as an apology for seeming like you were leaving without paying.
As you readjusted your backpack while leaving the dinner, something caught your attention. The same exact Nissan GTR R35 drove into the plaza, and drove in front of you, rolling down their windows as it revealed the familiar blonde-haired man – but you walked away from it.
“Get in the car.” He said as he was driving at the same exact speed as how you were walking, but you ignored him. “Y/n, get in!”
“Why? So you could drop me off somewhere? What the hell was that for- you know what,” You scoffed. “I don't even care.” You continued walking away from him.
“Look, I'm sorry. Just get back in the car. You're making us look crazy-”
“I'm making us look crazy? You don't need me back.” You retort, gesturing your hand as it was pointing to yourself before resting both of your hands in your pockets.
“Y/n.” He called out, but you still ignored him, making him groan. “Y/n!” He parked the car somewhere and went out of the car sprinting towards you.
He grabbed your shoulder to turn you but not in an aggressive way. “Y/n, where would you go? There's nowhere you could go.”
“Why do you keep coming back? What do you want?” You said as you were trying to push his hand off of you.
“Y/n, listen.” He placed both of his hands on your shoulders. “What I did was a bitchy move. Yes, I was thinking about escaping but no one can help you cause once you get caught, there is a higher chance of you going to prison.”
You just stared at him “So then why do you care about someone like me? Someone who you just met? This is so fucking stupid-”
“Because,” You waited for his response, but he started looking around nervously to see if anyone was looking, and seeing as no one was, he turned back to look at you. “You said you're in college to become a photographer, right?”
“So? Why do you care?”
“Because, if it's your dream then I shouldn't destroy it. I know I can't fix everything but I'm trying to help you since I'm trying to pay you back.”
“Please Y/n, just get back in the car. I’ll call my friends to let them help out.” You stared at him, debating if you should agree or not.
You never thought the supposed to be “The King of the Streets” and “Legendary Racer Lee Taeyong” is like that – well what the hell did you even think? You barely even know him because you never went to the race events with your friends, so basically you judged a book by its cover only to find out he's selfish.
You glanced at his hands resting on each side of your shoulder then back at him. After a few seconds you just walked past him, opened the car door and closed it after you went inside, not saying a word.
“Guess that was a yes.” Taeyong said to himself as he walked towards his car.
WITH YOUR FRIENDS – 12:44 P.M
Ten was pacing around the room, making Jaehyun let out a loud, stressed sigh. It had been annoying him for the past five, excruciating minutes. He just couldn’t deal with it anymore so he turned to face his direction.
“Will you please calm down?!” Jaehyun groaned.
“How can I calm down?! My best friend is missing!” Ten said as he continued his movement around the room.
“Look, we are trying our best to find her and Taeyong.” Jaehyun got up from the sofa and placed a hand on Ten's shoulder, trying to calm the poor man down. “Just please sit back down.”
“It's all my fault. I shouldn't have let her stayed alone – matter of a fact, I shouldn't have even invited her-”
“Ten, it's alright.” Johnny went beside Ten, making Jaehyun step aside.
“It’s not alright-"
“I know you're feeling guilty and having a lot of regret, but it's not your fault. She just got lost, but she's alive (hopefully).”
“That last part made it sound worse.” Doyoung added.
“Don’t mind that, but the point is she's alright, okay?” Ten nodded slowly to Johnny’s somewhat comforting words.
Jaehyun leaned back on the couch, drinking whatever alcohol was nearby so he could get his mind off of how stressful Ten is making the situation. But then his phone went off. He grabbed it out of his pocket and saw that the dialer was from an unknown number, but he hung up.
A few seconds later, his phone went off again, making Jaehyun let out a sigh before answering it.
“I'm not interested in whatever deal you're making-”
“Jaehyun, it's me…” Jaehyun's eyes widened.
—
Taeyong parked the car in an empty parking lot that was near some closed shops. You watched as he removed his black jacket, revealing his black loose shirt that had a design on it, and wrapped it around his jeans.
“I'm gonna be gone for a few minutes to make a call.” He spoke up.
“Are they gonna help?” You questioned as you watched him unbuckle his seatbelt.
“Hopefully. We'll just have to wait and see.” Taeyong opened the car door, and closed it before he walked away. You watched as his figure disappeared in the distance.
Taeyong walked towards a phone booth, and dialed a number. The first time no one answered until he dialed it again, but the person finally picked up and answered.
“I'm not interested in whatever deal you're making-” someone answered.
“Jaehyun, it’s me, Taeyong.” Taeyong responded as he leaned against the wall.
“Taeyong?! Are you alright?!” Jaehyun said, sounding worried.
“Yes, I'm alright. Thankfully I escaped.”
“Where are you?”
Taeyong looked around the area he was in, “I'm by Mr. Johnson's restaurant.”
“Thank god you're safe. And I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?” Taeyong questioned.
It took a few moments before Jaehyun spoke up, “Be honest when you answer. The one girl who is friends with Johnny and Ten has gone missing, and they have been searching for her since last night. Was that the girl that was in the car?"
It took a few moments before Taeyong could answer honestly. “Yes, it was her.”
“WHAT?” Taeyong moved the phone away from his ear in an instinct, “Do you not know how much trouble your in-”
“You’re talking to me like I'm some kid, Jaehyun.” Taeyong raised his voice a little bit.
“Then act like a fuckin’ adult, Taeyong. What you’re doing is childish, and you’re getting everyone around you surrounded in your damn mess.”
“Look, I'm sorry, okay? I'm gonna try and fix it, but first I need to take her away from here before she gets into more trouble.”
“How are you gonna do that if you guys are already on the news? It's impossible to drive outta here if there's gonna be police officers at every exit.”
“Aren't you friends with one of her friends? They could help.”
“The police are finding them suspicious already.”
“Jaehyun, please.”
Jaehyun let out a sigh. “Fine. I'll try and talk with them about it.” Jaehun said as he was trying not to argue back with him. “What are you doing with her though? Are you guys safe?”
“Yes, we are safe. I have also called you to tell you that I need to meet up with you, and the rest later on tomorrow since I have to find a safe space for now.”
“Alright then. See you later.”
“Bye.” Taeyong said before hanging up.
Taeyong walked back towards the car, opened the door, and went inside before closing it. “We’ll meet up with them tomorrow, alright?” Taeyong said as he turned to face you, and you only nodded as a reply. “For now, we just have to find somewhere safe,”
Taeyong placed his keys inside the ignition before shifting the gear-stick from park to drive, and drove away from the area.
As he was driving out of the area, he opened the armrest to take out one of the Jolly Rancher's – the red one to be exact – that was placed inside of the bag, unwrapped it, and popped it inside his mouth.
“You want some?” He offered as he moved the bag closer to you. You took out the cherry flavored one as well, and moved the bag back into the armrest before you unwrapped it, and put it in your mouth.
Taeyong kept glancing at you and back on the road as his grip became tighter on the steering wheel, but he relaxed his hand after a while.
“Do you like street racing?” He broke the silence.
“Yeah, but I don't see it that often.” You replied to his question.
“Why not?”
“Because it's illegal street racing. I don’t wanna get into trouble.”
“Everyone goes to them, so why can't you?”
“I'm not a follower who's just gonna go after what everyone else is doing.”
“Alright, alright.” He let out a sigh. “You're no fun.”
“What do you mean?”
“You're so boring. You're not living a free life, and just going by what others say.”
“I can have fun, but it doesn't have to entertain everyone-”
“Boring.” He interrupted, which made you feel like punching him in the face. “Just try and get out of your comfort zone and loosen yourself, you know? It's more fun to go by your own rules and not everyone else's.” You just rolled your eyes before turning your attention towards the window.
“Whatever you say.” You watched as the cars passed by you guys. On the other hand, Taeyong’s lips curved into a playful smirk as he was thinking to himself.
LATER ON THAT DAY – 9:13 P.M
After a few hours, you and Taeyong had already eaten something at a diner. So, Taeyong drove the both of you into an empty parking lot. He shifted his gear-stick from drive to park, and turned the keys once to have the car on before leaving the car. You sat there confused as you looked around.
You heard the trunk open, and you could see from the back that Taeyong was scavenging for something. After a few seconds, he closed it and went in the backseat and placed a blanket over the seats and a pillow by the door.
“You could sleep here. We probably will do this a few times depending, but if you need any more comfort I could go to the store and get a pillow. But this is all I got.”
“It's alright. Thank you though.” Taeyong nodded before he went back in the front seat while you left and went in the back.
After a few minutes of getting comfortable, Taeyong turned to face you.
“Is it alright?” He spoke up, making sure if you were doing okay.
“Yeah, it's okay.” He nodded again before leaning back into the seat.
It was dark. The only light source was from the city and the moonlight, and it was silent. None of you had made a noise, which you didn't even want to .
You couldn’t help but worry about your friends, whether they are okay or not. Since you heard from Taeyong that the police had taken them in for questioning, you hope that they are doing fine, and nothing bad happens to them.
Since you were half asleep, you felt your eyes becoming heavy and watery, and it took only a few minutes before you could finally doze off. Taeyong on the other hand didn’t fall asleep yet, having many many questions popping up in his head as he leaned back in his seat.
How is he going to escape?
Can he even escape?
What is he going to do with you?
Can he fix everything?
But all of those questions had obvious answers to them. It's impossible for you guys to escape and for him to fix everything. He feels guilt and regret for taking you with him, but you guys were in a life or death situation, so he had to keep you safe while, on the other hand, he might as well take himself in.
But for now, he should push those questions out of his mind and worry about them later, because he already has enough things to worry about.
THE NEXT DAY - 1:04 P.M
You woke up to the faint sounds from the radio – a man speaking about how there was a robbery downtown. You turned to check your surroundings, and reached your head towards the window.
“You’re awake?” the familiar voice spoke up as they turned their head enough to see you clearly.
“Yeah. I'm still tired though.” You mumbled before laying back down on the seat. “What time is it?”
“Around ten.” he chuckled.
“Ten?” He hummed at your response. It took you a few seconds to process that before you changed the subject. “Where are you driving us to?”
“My friend's place. They also have your friends over there.” Your eyes widened in surprise.
“Really?! They have Ten and Johnny?!” He hummed again. “Thank goodness they are doing alright.”
“Yeah, they are alright. About ten minutes ago I called my friend and he said your friend Ten, I believe his name was, was worried sick about you.” Your lips curved into a smile at the thought of that. At the thought that nothing could make you guys split apart, and that he will always care for you. Then your smile faded lightly.
“But we are almost there.” he broke what seemed like an awkward silence between you guys. “Do you need anything like water, snacks or-”
“No, I'm fine.”
“Alright then.” Taeyong grabbed a piece of the Jolly Rancher from the bag and placed it in his mouth after unwrapping it as he continued driving.
AT JAEHYUN’S – 10:11 A.M
Taeyong rolled up into a neighborhood, parking outside an unfamiliar house. You stepped outside of the car before closing the door, scanning the house from top to bottom. It was a one-story house that looked affordable and comfortable enough to stay in. You turned around when you didn’t pick up any footsteps, noticing that Taeyong was still inside of the car while having his phone out.
After a few minutes, Taeyong opened the car door and closed it from behind as he approached your direction.
“They’re gonna open up the garage door.” Taeyong says, waiting beside you.
You stood there for a few seconds before you heard a clank sound from the side. The rusty garage door was slowly rising up. You stood there a few seconds, hesitating to enter until you saw Taeyong walk past you.
Before you could even step foot into the garage, you were being attacked by Ten's tight embrace. He held onto you like he was afraid of losing you.
“Thank goodness you're safe, Y/n. You gave me a heart attack!” Ten's hug went tighter than before, you dramatically acted like it was suffocating you.
“Ten- it's too tight.” You said as you were trying to adjust your position.
“Good!”
“What-”
“Let her go, Ten.” Johnny was trying to distance Ten away from you, but Ten gave him a slight glare before moving away fully. “It's good seeing that you're okay, Y/n.” Johnny patted you on the shoulder.
“I'm glad you survived that, Johnny.” Your lips curved into a smile, making Taeyong glance over your direction before turning back.
“I should be the one saying that-”
“Guy's, I hate to break this wholesome reunion but we have to speak on something urgent.” Taeyong interrupted your conversation.
Jaehyun turned to face Taeyong as he crossed his arms. “We need a way to stop those guys from attacking.”
“Well, I wonder whose fault it is.” Doyoung said sarcastically.
“That’s what I had also come here for. To apologise.” Taeyong addressed as his attention drifted to everyone in the room. “I’m sorry for bringing everybody into my mess, but I really need your guys’ help.”
“That was a poorly made apology.” Ten stared at Taeyong, giving him a “are you serious?” stare. “But there is something else going on.”
Everyone gave their attention to Ten. The tone of his voice made everyone in the area feel uneasy about what he would say next.
“We found out that you’re extremely fucked Taeyong.”
“Like as if I didn’t know already-”
“No, like those guards who were after you weren't from ‘The Pirates’ gang. It was from the man. The man is after you so you have to find a way to escape Los Angeles sooner than later-”
“How am I able to leave when there are police at every exit? I can’t leave Los Angeles – I’m stuck!”
“And there's something else that is worse than that. The man is up to something else.”
“How do you know?” You spoke up as you looked at Ten.
“Earlier I was trying to find a way to find the man through the surveillance cameras, but I couldn't get through even though I knew the passcode.”
“Maybe they updated the password-" Johnny added but he was interrupted.
“No, the government hasn't changed that password for several years. They are really dumb.” Ten remarked.
“But what if there was another hacker like you who is trying to get in.” Jaehyun said as he drank the rest of the beer from the can.
“Maybe, but who knows.”
Taeyong leaned over the car as he was thinking. “So what will we do then?”
“We might have to wait.” Jaehyun responded.
Taeyong raised his voice, tilting his head and gesturing his hand out, “We got many people on our ass. We can’t just wait-”
“I’ll try to make a plan. I need to make sure the people I'm going to bring in can help us.” Ten said as he glanced at everyone in the room
“You’re bringing in more people?! You’re going to get them hurt-” You tried protesting but he interrupted you.
“They won’t be doing anything that we are doing. I have to see if they can agree before I can tell you the plan.”
“Like how I, we can’t sit on our asses for long-” Taeyong’s tone was sharper than before but he had paused.
“Just give it a week. You can come back over here to wash up.”
After a few seconds, Taeyong spoke up. “I’m going to go over to Mark’s.”
“I was already planning on doing that.” Ten said.
“I have to ask him something in person. So I'll be leaving later on today.” Taeyong rested against the couch.
“Can I tag along?” You asked, making Taeyong’s eyes drift to yours.
“I guess. We’ll be driving for about forty minutes though.”
“It’s fine.” You rested your hands in your pants pockets.
“Alright then.” Taeyong scanned you from head to toe before talking with Johnny. Ten nudged his arm against you, making you confused.
“Can I speak with you, Y/n?” He said loud enough for only you to hear.
“What is it?” You answered him with suspicion.
“Follow me.” Ten grabbed your wrist before taking you inside the house.
Ten led you inside the kitchen that was by the empty garage, placing his hand on the counter.
“What was that just now?” He questioned.
“What was what?” You said cluelessly because you really didn’t know what he had meant.
He pointed at the garage door then back at you. “You wanted to join him.”
“Yeah, and?”
“Why do you wanna go, hmm?” He said teasingly.
“Ten-”
“Is there something going on?” He tilted his head.
“No!- I just want to go out since i’m bored-”
“That was a bad excuse.” He interrupted. “Just be honest with me, is everything going well between you two?”
“Yeah. Everything is going alright.”
“And there isn’t absolutely nothing going on?”
“Ten!”
“What? I’m being serious. You guys could already be hooking up – I don’t know!”
“Ten! You know me! I don’t hook up with anyone and plus he literally tried abandoning me-”
“He tried to abandon you?! I’m going to kill him – wait. If he tried abandoning you then why are you still following him?”
You opened your mouth to say something but nothing came out. “See. You already have something for him.”
“Just shut up.”
THE NEXT DAY – 11:20 A.M
Taeyong was driving on the highway to meet Mark, he lived an hour away from Jaehyun’s. Taeyong had driven you two to a nearby convenience store to get slurpees a while back, so you were leaning back in your seat , drinking the rest of the icy substance in the cup while listening to the radio that was playing faintly.
“I’ve never got the chance to ask, but who is Mark?” you spoke up.
“Mark is my friend along with your friends. He is very helpful even for him to still be in high school.” Taeyong chuckled to himself.
“He’s still in high school?! How did you guys meet him?”
“Same way how we all met each other. At the race events. Mark was smart enough to get a fake ID even though it didn’t fool us. But we did save him from getting kicked out since we found out he’s skilled with fixing cars and bikes.”
“I thought it was the manager or whoever runs the race events to decide who joins.”
“Yeah, it is. We convinced the manager to let him stay because we said he is older and he is very useful. Plus we needed more mechanics at the time so the manager had accepted.” You nodded.
“How did you meet my friends?”
“I met them while they were in their junior year, and I suppose you were in the same grade as well?” He glanced at you.
“Yeah, I was in junior high as well.”
“They were getting Jonny’s car fixed because of an incident. I believe one of you had run into something but I kept my promise that I wouldn’t tell Johnny’s parents, even though they didn’t want to admit that it was their fault. So after a few weeks, they had to keep coming into the shop to check on the car. I’m surprised I haven’t even seen you before.”
“We probably had met before because I usually go with them.”
“Probably.”
“It’s crazy that it has been about four years since that happened.”
“It has been?” Taeyong said as he was trying to think about it.
“Yeah.” you said before taking a sip of the slurpee. “Wait. How old are you?”
“I’m twenty-eight.” Your eyes widened.
“Why are you saying that so casually?”
“How else am I supposed to say it like? I’m really not that old – I mean – I am going in my thirties but you are an adult.”
“Yeah, but I thought you were around our age. You look so young.”
“Again, I am not that old.” You started laughing, making him flash a light smile.
You drifted your attention towards the view beside you, which was the view of the ocean. You reached your hand out as you felt the breeze and inhaled the air.
“It feels so nice outside.” Taeyong nodded.
“Are you that type of person who enjoys nature and stuff like that?” He questioned. “Because you sure like reaching yourself out of the window.”
“Yeah, you can say that. I just love car rides.” His lips curved into a smile as relaxed his hands on the steering wheel.
AT MARK’S HOUSE – 12:33 P.M
You and Taeyong stepped out of the car before closing it. You followed Taeyong from behind as he walked up the small steps towards the front door. He knocked on the door in a rhythmic way before resting his hands in his pockets, waiting for someone to answer the door.
“Does he live alone?” You drifted your attention to him.
“No. He still lives with his parents. If they aren’t answering, it’s probably because they are at work or something.”
After a few seconds, someone answered the door. The person looked younger than you. They were a few inches taller than you and wore black basketball shorts along with a jacket matching it, looking like a teenager. You could see a little bit inside of his house from afar which already looked organized.
“Taeyong?! What are you doing here? Isn’t the police after you-”
“Yeah, that’s why I am here.”
The other raised a brow. “What do you mean by that?”
“I have to talk to you about something urgent.”
The other drifted their attention to you. “Who is she?” he questioned.
“She is Ten and Johnny’s friend.”
“Oh, Y/n?” he snapped his fingers as he was trying to remember.
“Yeah.” You nodded.
“Alright, you guys can come inside.” The other walked inside. “Close the door behind you when you come inside.”
You both walked inside the house as Taeyong closed the door after you stepped in. The house was a family home that was neat and cozy with the sofas and the lights standing out.
As you were walking around, you weren’t too surprised with the interior of the house since you saw a glimpse of the inside from afar. But you could see how the house was neat and cozy, the sofas and the lights stood out, and frames adorning the walls and the coffee tables of what seemed like family members, others portraying Taeyong and his friends with Mark.
“You guys can get comfortable,” He pointed towards the sofa that was on the side.
Taeyong’s friend, Mark, walked inside of the kitchen. “Do you guys want anything?”
“Water would be fine.” you said as you sat down on the couch, turning your attention towards the TV that was playing faintly.
“Alright.” the other responded.
After a few seconds, he grabbed a water bottle and placed it on the coffee table that was in front of you.
“I forgot to introduce myself – I'm Mark.” He reached his hand out, making you shake his hand.
“Mark, we need your help.” Taeyong interrupted.
“What is it?” he questioned as he sat at the sofa that was across from the both of you.
“We need your help to take down the boss.” Mark frowned at his response.
“You’re going to go after him? You know that’s going to be impossible-”
“We are getting a lot of help from everyone around. But we need your help.” Taeyong stared at him with a stern look.
Mark responded after a few seconds. “What can I even do to help?”
“You know your way around California, don’t you?”
“Yeah. I know my way around here.”
“So we are getting help from Ten and his friend Jungwoo to check over the security cameras while we are after the man. We are going to make sure he won’t leave and destroy Los Angeles, and we would need a distraction from you, Johnny, Doyoung and Jaehyun.”
Mark went silent as he was processing what Taeyong had just told him.
“How would I be able to distract the man though?” he quizzed.
“We haven’t planned that far yet. I have come over here to get a response whether or not you will be joining us and to discuss something else.”
“I can’t just join if you will give me a job that could cost my life-”
“You won’t get hurt.”
Mark let out a sigh as he stood up from the sofa. “Just let me have time to think about it.” He walked towards the backdoor which led to a backyard with the view of the city.
You turned to face Taeyong. “Do you think he’ll accept?”
“I have to convince him.” Taeyong stood up from the sofa and walked towards the backdoor. You watched as his figure disappeared, leaving you alone in the living room with the TV playing in the background.
Mark was leaning by the fence as he was thinking about everything that was happening. Thinking about how Taeyong needs his help and how risky it is. Mark turned his body in a quick motion when he heard a sound beside him, realizing that it was Taeyong who was approaching him.
Taeyong stood beside Mark as he rested his elbows on it, looking over at the view. Taeyong didn’t say anything at first since he was collecting his thoughts and trying to figure out the right words.
Taeyong took the cap off of his water bottle before taking a sip of water.
“Are you sure about this?” Mark spoke up, making Taeyong turn to face him. “With trying to take the man down.”
“I have to. He has already exposed me and put someone else in danger. I know Y/n was at the race but she had nothing to do with me and the man’s deal. Plus he already did worse for the rest of us. To him we are like his toys with no feelings or anything.”
“It’ll be hard. I know you have called the rest to help but it’s no use. He already has a lot of power with the government and he has bodyguards to kill us.”
“That’s why we have to hurry up and make a plan before he steps in to do anything else. I hate being that type of person, but Mark, we really need you to help us.”
Mark turned to face the view of the city. “I’m going to do it to help everyone else.” Mark turned to face him. “But promise me whatever you do you will make it back?”
“Of course I will. I’m not going to die. I’m too young anyways.” Taeyong chuckled.
“Actually you’re old.”
“Well you’re getting old too.” Taeyong wrapped his arm around his neck to pull him in a playful way, making Mark burst out into laughter.
“Okay, let go!” Taeyong removed his arm away from him as both of them continued laughing.
Both of them sat in silence for a little bit while enjoying the view. Mark turned to face him again.
“The actual question is are you doing this for yourself or are you actually trying to save everyone?” Taeyong drifted his attention towards him. “It’s okay to be selfish and protect yourself but it means the most when you protect others. It probably doesn’t make sense but it’s about how the situation will be in the end.”
“Since when you were wise?” Taeyong chuckled.
“Dude, I’m being serious!”
“If I had to be honest with all of you guys, I would actually be selfish and save myself.”
“Then what has changed you to help everyone?” Mark quizzed him.
“I have other people who are sacrificing their lives for me. So I have to do this in return. I can’t half-ass do this.” Mark nodded.
“That’s good. At least you aren’t running away from your problems.” Taeyong nodded slowly as he looked back at the view again.
ON THEIR WAY BACK – ON THE HIGHWAY 4:32 P.M
Taeyong was driving on the highway with the view of the beach beside him, having a lot on his mind. About what Mark said back at his house and about the plan. How can he take down the man? Just how? It’s almost impossible because that man is powerful and he held him in the palm of his hands.
Taeyong learned too much from others – even someone who is still in high school is giving advice to him. Taeyong keeps repeating “It’s my responsibility.” and “I’m trying to save everyone” but sometimes he feels empty. He doesn’t even know how to feel anymore, he feels like he is disappearing from the world every second of the day, which maybe he should, he always tells himself.
Taeyong came back to his senses when he heard the windows roll down on his right side.
You had rolled down the windows beside you, making Taeyong glance at you curiously.
“What are you doing?” He questioned.
“Getting some air,” You moved your head out of the window slightly, enough for you to feel the breeze.
Taeyong saw how your hair flew across your face as you stuck half of your head out of the window. At the moment his heart had skipped a beat. Even though your hair was getting in the way of your face messily, it was like the world had stopped for him. You looked breathtaking – too perfect as it made his mouth part slightly. He couldn’t help but admire you. The way you were enjoying the moment. The way you looked free was as if nothing was getting in your way.
“You look…” He mumbled, making you turn to face him. His eyes widened from realization.
He had felt like a total creep.
Yeah. A total creep. He told himself.
Taeyong cleared his throat. “You look crazy.”
You chuckled at his response. “Yeah. I guess I do.” You moved back inside of the car as you let out a chuckle.
Taeyong swallowed the lump in his throat as he averted his gaze away from you, making you tilt your head in confusion. But you didn’t say anything, thinking it wasn’t a big deal.
Taeyong licked his lips as his fingers were tapping on the steering wheel anxiously. He turned to face you one last time as he saw how you looked amazed while looking outside of the window, making him give a soft smile before drifting his attention back to the road.
He never knew that he would actually meet someone like you. Someone who understands him, to be exact. Afternoon or late-night drives, sucking on hard candies and drinking slurpees in the summers, and someone who just enjoys the moments. The feeling of nostalgia that comes in and never leaves, it just ghosts you – which isn’t a bad thing. It just makes you yearn for it. It was as if it’s the only feeling that makes him feel young again.
Taeyong has to make everything better. He has to give everyone a better life including you and your friends, even if it takes him to prison. He has to make everything right.
NEXT FRIDAY – 1:24 P.M
It has been almost a week since that day. You haven’t really heard from everyone in a while, and you were still close to Taeyong since he didn’t want you to leave his sight,as if you would run away.. Ten had only told you that he was with Johnny and the rest as they were waiting for something to come into the mail, which made you feel impatient since they are making you stay there like sitting ducks getting ready to get shot up at by the man and the government. But you and Taeyong started connecting more and understanding each other even if it was from tiny information you gave to each other.
Taeyong drove into a crowded parking lot, which you looked at him in confusion when you realized where you were.
“Why are we here?” You questioned as you unfasten your seatbelt.
Taeyong unfasten his seatbelt as well along with taking the keys out of the ignition switch. “To get some snacks.” He opened the door and closed it behind himself.
You closed the door before you caught up with him. “But aren’t we supposed not to be around a lot of people?”
“They would care less. Plus everyone’s watching a football game.” He pointed towards the field where you could see people already playing.
You followed Taeyong where he reached an ice cream truck. “What flavor do you want?” He turned to face you.
“Any is fine.”
“So what if I just gave you mint chocolate-”
“No.” You interrupted up quickly.
He chuckled. “You said any.” Taeyong took out his wallet. “Can I get,” Taeyong looked at the menu then at the ice cream man, “One vanilla and one chocolate?”
The ice cream man said the price, which Taeyong paid for, and the both of you walked away from the truck. Taeyong gave you an ice cream cone that had chocolate ice cream.
“Thank you.” You took the ice cream cone before licking the frozen product.
As you licked the ice cream, the cold product brushed against your tongue as it felt relaxing since it was still in the middle of July. The ice cream was soft and it was the perfect amount of sweetness.
“How does it taste?” Taeyong questioned as he watched you eat the ice cream.
“It tastes really good!”
“That’s good.” He licked the vanilla ice cream as the both of you walked down the sidewalk.
The two of you walked in silence, looking around the area. While you were looking around, your eyes drifted towards Taeyong, seeing him remove his jacket with one hand and switching the ice cream in his other hand before flipping it over his shoulder. You saw how some of his shirt was tucked into his jeans perfectly and the shape of his muscles pressed against the shirt.
He looked at you confused. “Is there something on my face?” he questioned.
“No,” You turned your attention away from him as you were acting like you weren’t just staring at him a few seconds ago. “i’m just looking around”
He nodded slowly as he agreed to your response. He licked his ice cream before he glanced at you one last time until he noticed something on you.
He used his thumb to brush against the corner of your mouth. “You got some on the corner of your lip.”
You felt your cheek warm up from the sudden touch, but you averted your attention away from him, making him confused until he realized why you did that all of a sudden.
You two kept walking without making eye contact, but he softened his expression as he was thinking while eating his ice cream.
You started laughing out of the blue, causing Taeyong to furrow his eyebrows in confusion.
‘Why are you laughing all of a sudden?” He questioned.
“I just realized you got some on your nose.” You wiped off the extra vanilla remnants off of his nose, which made him flash a light smile.
“I could have wiped it off.”
“You wouldn’t have noticed it until now.” He rolled his eyes playfully at your response.
“Do you want to go for a ride?” Taeyong questioned as he licked his lips to remove the ice cream off of his mouth.
“What do you mean?”
“Like – we can chill on the hill over there?” Taeyong pointed to a hill that was near the mountains.
You nodded. “Sure.”
LATER ON THAT DAY: 4:23 P.M
Taeyong parked his car on the hill where you both sat on top of his car hood, looking over at the view of the city. It was cloudy outside as the sun was setting, and the cold wind brushed against your skin, sending slight goosebumps down your arms.
You both sat in silence, just enjoying the view of the city until you heard him clear his throat.
“Have you ever thought about what your future would be like?” He spoke up, breaking the silence and it made you look at him confused.
“Why did you ask about that all of a sudden?” You questioned.
“Just because.” Taeyong said. “I just want to get your opinion.”
“Well, not really. I just thought of it in a simple way – get a job that I love and just move on with my life.”
“No romance?” He interrupted.
“I mean – yeah maybe find someone that I love. It’s not like I don’t want to be with anyone, but it’s just that I don’t think I'm mentally prepared to just go out and date, you know.” You grabbed your Arizona tea that was placed beside you, opened the lid, and drank some before closing it back.
“You don’t have to pressure yourself to immediately find love. Love comes naturally, so you shouldn’t rush it.” He turned to face you as the wind blew the hair strands over his eyes. “I think it's good that you're planning already because after you graduate, you're fully on your own.”
You nodded to his response slowly. You looked around as you were trying to come up with words to say to him next. “Did you ever dream about your future?”
He turned to face you then adjusted his position. “I mean – yeah everyone had a dream even if it was cheesy and delusional.”
“What was it?” You asked curiously.
He chuckled, “It's probably an easy guess, but I wanted to be a F1 driver. I had that dream set since I was younger. It's never too late to try and accomplish that dream but I don't think I'm able to do that in the current position that I am in.” Your lips curved into a smile as you saw how he looked happy and comfortable to share his dream.
“Would you try and accomplish that dream when you get out of this situation?”
He hummed, acting like it was the hardest question to answer. “Hmm, maybe.”
“I think it'd be cool to see you drive.”
“You have already seen me drive for a while now, what's the difference?"
“I mean like one of them. Being on TV.” You corrected yourself.
“You did see me on TV as well.” You gave him a playful glare, making him laugh. “I’m just kidding!”
“I know,” You said as you laughed along.
Why does he feel so comfortable around you? Feel so open to speak about anything off of his chest. His worries or just anything he can randomly see, he would want to just tell it to you.
As you were talking, his gaze drifted towards you instead of the view – admiring how you looked so peaceful and calm.
Maybe it was just him going crazy, but something feels different. You looked different to him. He can see the littlest details about you – like how your eyebrows furrow from either thinking about something so intensively or concentrating on something. He liked how the words slipped out of your mouth because he loved your voice, and how the cold breeze brushed against you, making your hair flow like the ocean waves.
He felt like he needed you more than anything else, but how when you guys had just met? Was it fate that had brought you two together or just some type of misfortune.
He tested the waters as he made his hand travel to yours, making you face him dumbfoundedly. He leaned in closer to you slowly, making your body move on its own as it reciprocated his actions, but you were interrupted by his phone ringing. You moved back quickly as the both of you laughed awkwardly.
“Sorry about that.” Taeyong moved back with his hand behind his neck. “Sorry if I have made you feel uncomfortable or anything.” Taeyong said apologetically as embarrassment crept on him.
“No, it’s okay.” You said as you were trying to brush off the cringiness feeling from yourself.
Taeyong swiped the button on the phone to answer, and put it on speaker as he placed it beside himself. “Hello?”
“Taeyong, we have a lead. Meet us back whenever you are able to.” Jaehyun spoke up, going straightforward to what he had to say.
“Okay. I’ll be there soon.”
“Alright, bye.” Jaehyun said before he hung up.
“We gotta get back to the garage.” you nodded before getting up.
As you were making it back in the car, his mind couldn’t stop replaying that moment in his head. The way how the both of you leaned in, following each other's actions before it was interrupted. But why is he even making a move early? He barely even knows you long enough, he had thought to himself. He pressed the key inside of the ignition and turned to start it.
AT JAEHYUN’S HOUSE — 5:23 P.M
Ten approached everyone who was surrounded by the small table, and placed his laptop on the table and moved it forward for everyone to see. “Alright guys. So, I have found a way.”
“A way for?” Johnny questioned.
“A way to stop this mess, but it’s not going to be easy.” You looked at him worriedly. “Since the man is going after Taeyong and trying to take control of the city, we have to find the ‘key’ to try and stop it.”
“What does this ‘key’ do?” You questioned.
“The key that we are looking for is a way to stop this mess – preventing the man from doing anything to this city. So just basically restarting the process of what he had started from blocking anyone to get into the cameras.”
“What does the key look like?” Jaehyun questioned as he looked around.
“It looks like this.” Ten switched tabs on his laptop that showed a key that glowed neon green.
“Wait, I've seen that before.” Taeyong interrupted.
“Would you mind explaining it to us?” Ten crossed his arms.
“I remember I overheard the man and Mr. Kim talked about it before at his penthouse, but he said that it won't be shipped for another few days. I just didn’t know what it did.”
“So then it’s just basically a flash drive?” Jaehyun added.
“Kind of.” Ten answered.
“How exactly are you planning on getting ‘the key’?” Doyoung added as he crossed his arms, waiting for a reply.
“So my plan is that you guys will get ‘the key’ from the penthouse – but you guys have to be in disguise. Like I mean for real – you can’t get caught or else you would probably end up in the worst possible situation. The whole entire building is tight – secured I should say. Once you get the key, and unlock the door, that is where you call me in. I will give you the code to shut down the security system, and then yeah. You guys can go and do your stuff.”
“How are we just gonna go in if we don’t have VIP?” You questioned.
“I know a way.” Ten's lips curved into a slight smirk before he grabbed out his phone.
“Please don’t be something crazy-” You let out a stressed sigh.
“Everything we are doing is crazy.” Ten remarked.
“Before we get to the plan, I have to go somewhere real quick. You can stay here.” Taeyong said as he grabbed his jacket from the coat rack and disappeared out of the garage.
You watched as he went towards his car and drove away from the house.
You turned your attention back towards the others. “Do you have an idea where he could go?”
“Nope. He isn’t supposed to split up from us just yet.” Doyoung answered.
AT THE CLUB – 11:05 P.M
The sun was down, and the pink gradient from the sky disappeared, leaving the sky a dark navy blue. The neon lights brought the city to life, sparkling all around as it had blinded you. Taeyong was driving with one hand on the wheel as he focused on the road,
After a while, you and Taeyong had made it to your destination. You had paused to scan the tall, luxurious building – a casino to exact. You felt nervous since you had never gone into a fancy building before, but something grabbed your hand, making you come back to your senses.
Taeyong locked his fingers with yours, “This way, your majesty.” his lips curved into a smile, causing you to let out a chuckle.
He lifted your hand up, leading you up the stairs. “Remember to stick with the plan, alright?” He whispered, making you nod your head in response.
You walked inside the lobby as a staff member was behind the desk, typing on a keyboard that echoed throughout the area until she glanced at both of you.
“Hello! How may I help you?” the staff said.
“Hello! We are here to get inside of the club.” Taeyong said as he wrapped his arm around his to make it seem realistic enough that you two were together.
“Alright, and the names are?” She questioned as she switched tabs on her computer before turning back towards you two.
“Mr. and Mrs. Lee?” Taeyong answered.
“Alright,” She typed the names into the computer before facing you both again. “May I see your ID?”
Taeyong grabbed out his wallet along with you and you passed it over to her. After she took it, she started going through the information on her computer. You were nervous. You could hear your heart pound against your chest, feeling anxious as your grip on Taeyong’s shirt became tighter, making Taeyong look at you confused, but he started rubbing slow circles on your hand to try and comfort you. After a few minutes, she gave the ID’s back to you both.
“The club is on the thirtieth floor.” She went towards the printer as something started coming out of it, – two VIP passes with the building and your information on it. ”Enjoy your evening!” Her lips curved into a smile, making you let out a relieved sigh.
“You too!” You replied before you walked forward along with Taeyong.
“Are you ok?” Taeyong questioned as he looked at you with concern.
“Yeah, I'm alright. Let's go.” You said as you were trying to ignore what had happened before. Even though you had played it off, Taeyong was still worried but he ignored it so he wouldn't bring it back up.
You both headed towards the elevator, and pressed the button to the thirtieth floor. You watched as the door closed and began to go up.
Taeyong glanced at you, and noticed how you were holding onto your purse anxiously.
“Everything is gonna be okay.” He broke the silence.
“What?” you turned to face him.
“You seem pretty nervous about this. Whatever happens I will be there to protect you, alright?” his hand had rested on your shoulder to soothe the pain away.
“While I'm talking with the rest, just go get a drink and wait till further instructions from the rest,”
You nodded, “Alright.”
After a few moments, you both turned towards where the elevator opened, revealing a door by the end of the hall with bodyguards, decorations such as plants, neon lights and frames that had paintings of sceneries.
You and Taeyong walked out of the elevator and headed towards the end of the hall, making you pull out your VIP passes for verification. The guards nodded and opened the door, revealing everyone dancing ahead with the lights dimmed, making the DJ stand and the neon lights around the area as the only light source.
You walked inside with Taeyong as you were looking around the unfamiliar area
“Woah!” You said amazed as you were looking around your surroundings.
“You can go over to the bar. Let me handle it.” Taeyong said as his hand went towards your shoulder. “If you need anything, you know what to do.” His finger tapped the small device on your ear that was covered by your hair. You nodded before he walked off into the crowd, trying to get past everyone. You watched as he left before you sat at the bar area.
Taeyong walked over to a reserved VIP lounge where it was filled with what seemed like bodyguard's, women who were exposing a lot of skin, and another group of men sitting down, but there was someone who Taeyong didn't expect would be there.
Taeyong sighed before approaching the area. “Mr. Kim.” he bowed. Someone who was talking to one of the women beside him turned his attention towards him as his smile faded.
It was Kim Hongjoong.
Mr. Kim turned his attention towards him as a light smile appeared on his face. “There you are, son!” he said as it made Taeyong feel uneasy. “Come sit down.” He patted beside him, making Taeyong sit beside him.
Taeyong was looking around, finding the wall more interesting from how uncomfortable he felt being in the same area as Hongjoong.
“I'll be right back.” Mr. Kim walked away, leaving everyone else together.
“Get out.” Hongjoong said as he swept his hand, signaling for everyone to leave. Taeyong got up as he was about to follow the others but Hongjoong stopped his tracks, “Besides you.” Taeyong paused and he turned to face him in confusion.
Hongjoong watched as everyone disappeared before bringing his attention back to him. “What made you come back over here?” He spoke up after a few seconds.
“I needed to speak with Mr. Kim.” Taeyong said straightforwardly.
“But I thought I told you not to show your face back over here.” Hongjoong leaned in towards Taeyong with his hands locked together.
“I'm not here to start anything. I just need to discuss something urgent with your father.” Hongjoong grabbed the bottle of liquor and poured it into the shot glass, raised the glass towards his lips before swallowing the liquid substance.
“What could you possibly want? You had everything.”
“It's just business-”
“And you're having the police on your ass. You don't think I heard the news? Where's the girl that you tagged along? I could just easily send a wanted criminal into prison and end the girl's career if I wanted to.”
“But you didn’t, did you?” Taeyong interrupted. “ Like how I said, I'm not here to start anything.” Hongjoong was trying to find any lies behind Taeyong’s eyes before he scoffed.
“After this, don’t bother showing your face here.” Hongjoong warned before drifting his attention towards the crowd. Taeyong just nodded to himself.
“Taeyong?” Mr. Kim spoke up, causing Taeyong to stand up instinctively. “Follow me so we can discuss it.” Mr. Kim disappeared in the crowd, making Taeyong tag along.
Taeyong walked past you and leaned in towards your ear, “Now it's our next move.” Then he walked towards the elevator with the man.
After the elevator closed, you approached the elevator and pressed the button to go up to the thirty-fourth floor, and dialed Ten's number. After a few rings he answered.
“You ready?” He questioned.
“Yes. I have to wait for the elevator though.” You said as you looked around your surroundings.
“Alright, let me know when you're ready.” You could hear him typing on his keyboard from the other side of the call before he had hung up.
As you locked your hands together in front of you, waiting for the elevator to close but an arm went in the way before the elevator could close. Your eyes furrowed in confusion as you saw a man walk inside. He had shades and a thick leopard pattern fur coat on. You remembered it was someone who Taeyong was talking with a few seconds ago.
You cleared your throat as you were fidgeting your fingers awkwardly. You could feel the other’s eyes on you, which sent you uncomfortable chills, but you ignored it. The man examined you as if he had already seen you before but couldn't put his finger on it, so he just rested his hand inside of his pocket.
“Your jacket is slipping off.” The other spoke up, which caused you to look down at your jacket that was revealing your shoulder.
“Ahh, thank you.” You thanked him as you readjusted it.
The elevator had finally reached the assigned floor, which was a floor below your destination.
“Have a good day, ma'am.” He said as he walked past you.
“You too, sir.” You watched as he continued walking as the elevator closed in front of you.
When the elevator arrived at your floor, you walked out and went towards the door that was down the hall. You dialed Ten's number again as it rang before answering.
“Alright, what is the code?” you said as your finger tapped the wall.
“3-8-0-9-4-8” Ten answered as you were pushing the numbers in, and you heard the sound of the door unlocked from the other side. You opened the door and went inside.
The penthouse was too spotless, and fancy, as if anything could easily be damaged around you.
“Where do I have to go?” You questioned.
“You have to go to the master bedroom, and go to the closet.” Ten navigated you through it as you continued trying to find the room.
When you found the room, you looked around to see the closet on the side – which you went inside. As you were looking around the closet, you moved the clothes away until you saw a door that had larger coats in front of it, blending in with it.
“There is another door with a code.” you said as you moved the clothes away.
“2-2-6-5-8-9” He answered as you pushed the buttons, which had also unlocked. You opened the door, and saw that it was a tight space with many drawers and safes surrounding you.
“Ten, I'm lost.”
“What do you mean?”
“There are many safes around me and I don't know which one is the correct one.”
“Shit!” Ten mumbled to himself. After a few seconds, he let out a stressed sigh. “Which safe has a 3 code password?”
“All of them.”
“Then you would have to try all of them. The password to the safe that should have the ‘key’ in is 7-6-4”
“So many damn passwords. How the fuck does he remember these.” You said to yourself as you were checking the safe in front of you.
After a few minutes, you pushed the same password into the safe until there was a click sound, making you gasp.
“I found it!” You said as you took out an object – the key – out of the safe.
“Holy shit! Hurry up and get outta there!”
“Okay!” You were about to leave the room until you heard the front door open, making you step back and close the door from inside the closet, and hid behind a larger chair by the corner.
Your heart felt like it was beating out of your chest as it echoed in your ears, hurting painfully. You glanced at your phone and turned off the speaker and turned down the volume before you hugged your knees.
You were terrified for your life.
Will you be able to escape?
“You may take a seat on the couch.” A man's voice could be heard in the distance.
After a few seconds, you haven't heard anything else besides footsteps from the living room, and you still haven't moved away from the area that you were in. You couldn’t move a muscle, you were frozen.
“So, why did you come over here?” The same voice spoke up.
“Because I wanted to discuss something urgent.” A familiar voice replied to the man, making you furrow your eyebrows in confusion.
What is Taeyong doing here? You questioned yourself.
“And that is?” The other man said, waiting for his reply.
“I want to leave here. I want to end business with you and the man.”
“You know that-”
“That it's not that simple.” Taeyong cut off the man. “I can give you what you want – which is a million.”
“A man like you doesn't have that much on yourself. So how is that supposed to be convincing?”
“I have it.” The man raised a brow. “I have the money.” Taeyong pushed a duffle bag over in his direction.
The man picked up the duffle bag, unzipping it as it revealed the money. “Where did you get it?”
“It’s all that I have saved from the races over the past few years.” Your eyes furrowed in confusion.
Now it probably made sense why he had disappeared when you and the rest were still at the house. You had thought to yourself.
The man glanced at the duffle bag then back at Taeyong. “You think I'll still accept it.” Taeyong looked at him in confusion. “I’m not stupid. You and girlfriend are planning on doing something else. You’re planning on trying to buy yourself out of this mess so you could create a bigger mess so I wouldn’t be after you.”
Tayeong stared at the man who stood up from the sofa. “Come out, Y/n” The man called out as both you and Taeyong’s eyes widened.
How does he know my name?!
You walked out of the closet slowly and made it towards the living room. You swallowed the lump in your throat as you gave him a “i’m sorry” look.
After a few seconds of being confused on what else could happen, you flinched when you heard the front door open, revealing guards coming towards your direction.
“Take ‘em.” Mr. Kim said as he walked out of the room.
The guards grabbed your arm and pushed you out of the room.
“Get your hands off of me!” You shouted as you were trying to move yourself away from the guard, but it was no use since he had a tighter grip on you.
The man led you to the rooftop, making your chest clench from realization.
“Are these guys going to kill us?!” you thought to yourself as you were panicking.
“You can take them to the edge.” The man took out his cigar and his lighter before lighting the cigar.
“WAIT!” Taeyong shouted, catching the man’s attention. “Don’t hurt her!”
The man approached Taeyong and lifted him up by his hair. “What are you going to do? You think you can just buy yourself out and then steal something out of me?”
“It’s not what it looks like-”
“It looks exactly what it looks like. You didn’t ask if you could take the key. So it’s trespassing.”
“Okay, okay! I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to steal the key! Please just don’t hurt her!”
“You’re looking pathetic over a girl. You barely even know her, so why do you care so much if she would die?”
“She got nothing to do with this!”
“But you had brought her into this mess.” The man eyed you, which sent chills down your spine from the stare. The man smirked. “Release ‘em.” The man said as he walked away from Taeyong.
Taeyong felt relieved as he was trying to catch his breath. “Besides the girl, drop her.” Taeyong’s eyes widened. Before he could run towards you, the guards held a tight grip on him.
WHAT THE HELL?
One of the guards held you by the arm and led you towards the edge of the building, making you tremble.
Is this how you’re going to die?
It’s too early, you barely even experienced life as an adult fully. You still haven’t finished college, and accomplished your dreams and wishes.
The guard let go of his grip, letting you escape his grasp. It was as if life flashed behind your eyes. But before you could fall off the building, someone had already grabbed your arm. You opened your eyes in surprise when you realized who held onto you.
It was Taeyong.
“I got you!” His voice and his arms were shaky.
You noticed something in the distance behind Taeyong that someone was fighting the guards but your eyes drift back towards Taeyong, looking into his worried eyes.
“Just hold onto me, okay? Try not to look below.” You started forming tears from being frightened. “On the count of three, try and use all of your strength while I help, alright?” You nodded instantly.
When Taeyong counted to three, you used all of your strength to pull yourself up as he was there for support. When you finally got back on the rooftop, Taeyong stood back away from the edge, resting you on his lap as he let you cry on his shoulder.
“Taeyong, I was so scared.” You said as tears were falling down your cheek, staining his button up.
“It’s okay.” Taeyong said as he wrapped his arms around you, rubbing your back to ease the pain away.
Taeyong turned to the side, noticing that Mr. Kim disappeared but someone else was there, just standing for a few moments before switching their attention towards Taeyong. It was Hongjoong.
“Why did Hongjoong help out? What are his motives?” Were the questions that ran through Taeyong’s head.
“Get her out of here.” He said as he was rubbing his knuckles. “I don’t want to see you over here again.”
Taeyong turned to face you and rubbed your back again. “We have to leave.” He stood up as his hands reached for yours, lifting you up from the ground.
Taeyong wrapped his arm around you, leading you two off of the rooftop as you left Hongjoong behind.
IN THE CAR – 1:14 A.M
As Taeyong was driving, he removed the blazer, leaving him in his button up that was unbuttoned twice, being tucked in his trousers. He left out a sigh as he was thinking about everything that happened earlier that night. He wouldn’t lie, he was scared. Not because of the guns pointing and shooting at him, but because of you. He was scared for your safety. You almost died in front of him.
He turned to face you, seeing you had already dozed off. A light smile appeared on Taeyong's face before he looked back on the road to wait by the red light. He grabbed his blazer and placed it over you, and adjusted it.
Taeyong glanced at the window when he saw that raindrops hit against the window. The traffic light turned green, signalling him to go ahead, and he started driving.
LATER ON THAT NIGHT – 1:34 P.M
You and Taeyong were waiting inside of the hotel room for any new information from Ten. From what you remembered, he told you two to stay inside of the room until he gave you more information about the plan. He had also mentioned that it would take a long time, but you didn’t expect it to be this long. You had to switch hotels since you almost got caught by the police at the casino. So, you and Taeyong sat on the sofa in the shared room in silence, not giving each other eye contact. You both had to take the same room since he was being overprotective all of a sudden, and was afraid if the police were going to show up at the hotel.
“So, did anyone text yet?” You broke the silence as you glanced at him, and readjusted your position.
He grabbed out his phone it didn’t show any notifications before placing it back on the coffee table. “No. Not yet.”
You locked your fingers together as you were looking around, making him look at you confusedly. “Are you alright?” he said with his brows furrowed in confusion.
You turned to face him, “Yeah. I’m just bored.” You rested your cheek against your palm, making your elbow rest against the armrest.
“You could just watch TV or something-” He was about to grab the remote but you stopped his tracks.
“Nah, I'm good – unless you want the TV on.”
“Nah, I'm alright.” You nodded as your eyes never left Taeyong, watching him lean back on the couch.
Taeyong had many things in his mind. About how he might possibly die at any moment because there are many people after him including the man and the government, and mostly about how you almost died in front of him. Taeyong never showed his soft side because he didn't want anyone to look down at him, but what you had terrified him. He thought he was going to lose you.
“Y/n,” he called out, catching your attention.
“Yes?” You answered as you turned to face him.
“I- uhm,” He took a few moments to prepare the right words to say to you. “I’m sorry.”
You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. “What are you sorry for?”
“About earlier. At the building. I know I keep saying it over and over again, but I'm sorry for involving you into my mess. I’m not asking for forgiveness but just for you to understand where I'm coming from. I should have just told your friend to just give me the details on the plan so I could just do it myself. You almost died because of me. You almost died because of my mess from years ago. So I'm sorry.” He gave you a sincere look
“Tomorrow you should go back to your friends and hide somewhere else away from me before you get hurt even more.” He looked into your eyes to see if you had any reaction, which he saw – well what he thinks he sees is either confusion, empathy or guilt?
You didn’t know what to say – well, you thought of something to tell him but you couldn’t find the right words either.
“Taeyong,” You rested your hands on the sofa. “Even if you make me leave there is no use. The police will still be after me along with the man. Everyone including myself have to make sure you’ll make it out of this situation alive. Even though we just met and I don’t even know you that fully, I believe you should have a good future.”
He stared at you for a few moments as your words went through his head.
“You shouldn’t believe that everyone is a good person because they could secretly be evil.” Taeyong rubbed the back of his neck as he was looking around.
“I’m being serious Taeyong-”
“I’m being serious too. Why do you easily believe in people including me? You don’t know that at any moment I could easily sell you or your friends out-”
“You’re not that kind of person.”
“How do you know?” He questioned as he stared at you, looking at how your expression changed.
“I know how you are already. You’re the type of person who say you’re bad but in reality you’re doing more good than anyone else-”
“But I almost abandoned you at the diner.”
“But you brought me back. You never left me-”
“Because I can’t leave you.”
“Why?”
“Because I care about you!” Taeyong blurted out as his response made your eyes widen slightly “God it’s crazy saying this–” He said as he brushed his hair back. “I care about you a lot. All the things I learnt about you makes me feel guilty if I leave you behind. You already have a brighter future than me. You’re already in college and once you graduate you could decide your future like working at your dream job, get your dream house or apartment, and even settle in with someone. But someone like me can’t do it even if I even tried to. Even if I do make it out of this situation I still have to go to prison for breaking a lot of laws from my past including now.”
You watched how he rose up and down repeatedly from how he expressed himself. You could see how his hand rested against the sofa as he let out a sigh.
He really just exposed himself. He was built up with a lot of feelings, he just had to say how he felt even though he hoped he didn’t say anything that offended you. But in reality it was the truth. All of it was. He cares about you so much even though you guys have known each other for a week, and it wasn’t because of how he saved you. It was because he felt guilty. Guilty if he ruins your whole life for his sake.
And there was something else to it.
Earlier that day, he remembered when you almost had a moment together until you were interrupted by that damn call from Jaehyun. He couldn’t wait any longer. He felt impatient. He just needs to feel your soft lips against his.
Taeyong readjusted his position as he turned to face you, making you look at him confused. “Can I – can I kiss you?” He blurted out, causing your eyes to widen in surprise. You did not expect those words to come out of his mouth. But he was serious. Even though he mumbled on his words, you could still hear how his voice was filled with raw, genuine emotions.
Your mouth parted trying to find the right words, but you nodded slowly. “Y-yes.” you replied hesitantly.
“No, you don’t have to force it. If you feel uncomfortable then you don’t have to accept-” you stopped him mid-sentence as he felt slight pressure against his lips. This time you didn’t hesitate to press your lips against his.
The kiss started off slow, but built up with more tension. His left hand found its way towards your cheek, caressing it tenderly.
After a few seconds, he pulled away to catch his breath as the feeling of his lips against yours still lingered. Taeyong pressed his forehead against yours as he rested his eyes.
“I’m sorry, Y/n. I’ve never meant to hurt you.” He whispered as his hand traveled back to your cheek. “I don’t want you to leave me.”
“I’m not going to leave you.” You whispered as your hand rested on his free hand.
You both locked eye contact for a few moments before his lips found yours again. This time in between the kisses, he wrapped your legs around him as he led both of you to his bed. The kiss was desperate, filled with need and desire. Your breath hitched as you felt his tongue brush against your bottom lip before slipping into your mouth, deepening the kiss.
His lips trailed down from your lips to your cheek and to your jawline. “God, I've been waiting so long for this moment.” He whispered against the crook of your neck.
“Taeyong.” You whispered his name.
He responded with a hum that vibrated against your mouth as he paused, lips brushing against your neck.
“I need you so badly.” Your response made him grunt against your neck.
Taeyong moved his head away from your neck , with his head a few inches away from yours, having his hand slip under your shirt and fingertips brushing against your soft skin, as his free hand went towards your cheek.
“You don’t need to repeat it. I’m right here, okay?” His voice was soft and comforting, making you nod slowly before his lips pressed against yours again.
LATER ON THAT DAY – 6:03 A.M
As you were waking up, you rubbed your eyes, noticing that the sun wasn’t out yet, and that it was more cloudy and grey outside than being clear. You noticed something – or someone beside you. You moved the thick layer to check, and it was Taeyong. His figure was shifting in his sleep, and moving a little bit closer to you.
He looked calm and not looking angry and vicious like how he usually is. His eyes flutter open after a few minutes, noticing your eyes on him.
“When did you wake up?” he mumbled as his hand found its way towards your cheek.
“A few seconds ago.” you responded, scooting closer to him before resting your head on his arm that was reached out on the bed.
“How did you sleep?” he questioned as his eyes never left you.
“I’ve slept really good. What about you?”
“I slept good as well.”
He took a moment to just admire you. He loved the way you looked so peaceful. He leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on your forehead as you closed your eyes to take in the moment.
“You’re so pretty.” he whispered as he scanned you, fingers tracing your skin. You looked into his round, tired eyes as he looked into yours as well.
You both held eye contact for a few moments as the only sounds in the room were your breathing and the AC running in the background. Your presence comforted him, making his eyes soften at you. His lips met yours as you guys shared a sweet, tender kiss. His hand found your waist, caressing and giving gentle strokes as he tilted his head to deepen the kiss.
His lips detached from yours as he rested his hands on your hips to place you on top of him until his soft lips found its way towards yours again. You felt his lips brush against yours, hands tangling in your hair, and pulling you closer to him with his free hand. He didn’t want it to be rushed. He wanted to take his time with you – to just love you.
His left hand caressed your thigh, feeling on your soft skin. “You’re so sweet. So precious.” he mumbled in between the kisses, making you laugh from the funny feeling of him planting kisses on you.
He moved away for a moment before looking up at you with his tired, round eyes. “I promise that I won’t leave your side. I’ll make sure nothing happens to you.”
You nodded your head slowly.
Before he could do anything else, he got interrupted by his phone – which started ringing loudly, echoing throughout the room.
He let out a stressed sigh, being annoyed from it. “It’s your friend, Ten.” He took the phone from the nightstand.
“Answer it. It could be something important.” you were about to grab his phone but he stopped your tracks so he could answer it himself.
“Hello?” He said when he had answered. His arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
“Taeyong, where the hell were you? We were calling you nonstop since last night, did you not see the messages?-” Ten said.
“Calm down. I’ve been at the hotel with Y/n-”
You could hear Johnny chortling on the other side along with Jaehyun. “What?” Taeyong questioned.
“Nothing. I guess you were too “busy”-”
“What do you mean-”
“But we got some news to tell you when you come over,” Ten talked over him so he wouldn’t continue. “And Mark is going to bring some people to help out.”
“He did?”
“Just wait and see. Meet us up at the usual time.”
“Alright.” Taeyong responded before the other hung up, making him place the phone back on the nightstand.
“So, what did they say?” you questioned as you sat up right.
“They didn’t say much besides meeting up at three.” He leaned against you, head tilting as you looked down at him as his eyes drifted towards the bed sheets, "That gives us enough time to be alone.” His hand caressed your thigh again before he started placing light kisses on your collarbone to your neck.
“Taeyong!” you exclaimed, making him chuckle against you.
LATER ON THAT DAY – 2:56 P.M
You and Taeyong made it back to Jaehyun’s house, but you kept fidgeting on your jacket as you were walking towards the garage door. You couldn’t help but feel awkward about what your friend’s opinion would be like about what happened between you and Taeyong. You are an adult, obviously, and you don’t really need to tell them anything – but you don’t think that you can hold that secret in too long.
As you waited for the garage door to open, Taeyong snuck a quick glance at you before readjusting his position. You watched at the rusty garage door opened slowly before going inside.
“Took you guys long enough.” Johnny said as he rested against the couch.
“Sorry.” You said as you sat down at one of the plastic chairs that was by the stand.
After a few seconds of you getting comfortable, Ten grabbed out his laptop.
“Okay, so while you guys were too busy fucking each other-”
“We didn’t even!-” You tried defending yourself but he had spoken over you.
“We found more information about the man.” Ten spoke over Taeyong.
Taeyong just gave in, letting out a sigh. “What else did you find?”
“We didn't even take the correct key.” Your eyes widened.
“What the hell do you mean we didn't take the correct key?” You repeated the other's words.
“I don't know what we have taken from the club, but it wasn’t it. Yesterday when you gave me the key, I went straight to try and open up the file but it had opened up different files that weren't even about the key. So unfortunately, the man still has it.”
“So we sacrificed ourselves for no-”
“It wasn't for nothing.” Ten interrupted you. “And it all makes sense why the man wants the key.”
“Why?” Doyoung questioned.
“Besides shutting down the surveillance cameras around the city and shit, he's trying to destroy the government – trying to destroy California.”
“We need to find a way to stop him-” Johnny added.
“That'll be difficult in the situation we are in.”
“Why?” Johnny questioned as he waited for his response.
“Because the government is against us. They are trying to take us down as well. So we have no one on our side besides ourselves.”
“Didn’t you say that Mark has a plan?” You interrupted them.
“Yeah, but I don't know what that boy is doing. He hasn't called back since last night. So I don’t know if he was taken or not.”
“Then let's try checking everywhere cause we don’t have enough time.” Taeyong spoke up. “We can try his burner phone, talk to his parents – whatever as long as we can try and find him.”
“Let’s hope that he didn’t get kidnapped or something.” Doyoung got up and walked over towards the door.
“Don’t jinx it, Doyoung!” You yelled out as you watched him walk back inside the house. “We create a plan like right now,” Your hands flew to your hair in distress. “If not, other people will be included in this mess.”
Everyone just stood there, drowning in their thoughts as they were trying to come up with ideas.
“Wait!” Ten said as his eyes lit up, making everyone turn to face him. “What if we get him arrested?”
“And how will that work, hmm?” Taeyong stared at him.
“We can hack into his accounts so he wouldn't be able to open up the files and try to turn back on the surveillance cameras so it can be easier for the police to locate the man.
“But we needed the key for that-” You were interrupted.
“All I need is the password and Jungwoo can help with rest. But we need someone to distract the man while everything is happening.”
“I can distract the man – everyone else can go with the rest of the plan.” Taeyong looked up at everyone.
“But Taey-” before you could protest, you were interrupted.
“Alright then. Any volunteers to stay by his side?” Ten scanned the room.
“I will.” Jaehyun raised his hand.
“Okay so we have Taeyong and Jaehyun fighting while-”
“I’ll go stay with you and Y/n” Johnny said.
“Then we have Taeyong and Jaehyun-”
“We also have Mark.” Taeyong interrupted.
“Excuse me YOU’RE bringing a MINOR with you into the fight?” Ten turned to face Taeyong as he placed his hand on the tool shelves that were beside him.
“So you weren't worried that he had a plan but you’re worried if he's with us?”
“Yeah, fighting and having a plan is completely different. At least have Mark be with us while you fight.”
“He said he’ll be able to distract them.”
Ten let out a stressed sigh. “Fine. You guys, including Doyoung, will have to be near Taeyong and make sure nothing happens to him.” Ten pointed at the man before gesturing it towards the both of you. “And we have to call Mark.”
“I'll try and get a hold of him.” Jaehyun was grabbing that.

JOYRIDE ── you got into an argument with your friend which causes taesan to become worried about you.
Now playing ; Joyride by CORTIS
💭 Rose's Note: HERE IS MY BND DEBUTTTT!!! I listened to this song on loop. I told myself a few days ago that its been hard finding another song to listen to until I replayed 'Joyride' on loop 😭😭😭
You were inside of the car, watching as the trees passed by. You nodded your head to the melodies from the radio. You turned your head to your left for the first time in three hours since that argument. It was because of a stupid reason when you thought back about it, but you didn’t want to say anything if it meant making him more irritated. So you turned back and faced the window to your side again.
When you guys paused at a red light, Taesan drifted his attention towards you, making sure if you were still mad which he couldn’t tell by your facial expression. Were you mad? Were you sad? Or were you just resting?
“Why are you looking at me?” You didn’t move from your position, but your eyes traveled to his.
“I’m just making sure you’re okay.” He turned back to face the windshield. “Guess me being worried doesn’t mean anything.”
“I only asked why you were looking at me-” You stopped mid-sentence before letting out a scoff.
When the traffic light turned green, he drove ahead as he was thinking about what to say since he ruined his chance to talk with you.
But after a few seconds, he spoke up.
“I’m sorry,” he said suddenly. You turned to face him in confusion.
“About?”
“About earlier – about everything that happened until a few minutes ago. I didn’t mean to yell at you earlier and give you attitude. I don’t want you to keep looking away from me whenever I turn to the side.” He licked his lips before continuing. “So can you please look at me without giving me a disgusted, pissed off look?”
You nodded. “Fine.”
His lips curved into a slight smile from you accepting his apology, making him nod a little bit.
You watched as the sun was setting, making you look at it amazed.
“Look how pretty that is.” Taesan noticed how your eyes lit up, making all of his worries go away easily.
Taesan parked in a parking lot where you could view the mountains from across.
“Do you think we should stay here to stargaze later on-” When you turned to your side, you were met by Taesan’s lips who crashed onto yours in an instant.
After a few seconds, he opened his eyes as he realized your face was red. Oh no. Were you pissed off? Yeah, that was totally awkward and uncalled for.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to do that-”
“Did you just kiss me?” You said hesitantly
“I didn’t mean to-”
“Han Dongmin, did you just kiss me?” You repeated but sounded more stern.
Taesan swallowed the lump in his throat. “Yeah. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to kiss you without your consent.”
“Did you mean it?” You questioned him, making him feel more nervous.
He looked into your eyes as his hand curved into a fist on his arm rest from being disquiet. “Yes, I meant it. I meant all of it.”
Within seconds, you had already pulled him close, lips brushing against each other as you kissed him. The kiss started off slow as Taesan’s hand traveled to yours, lacing them together as you felt how clammy his hands were from being nervous a few seconds before building with more tension, but it wasn’t being rushed. You felt butterflies in your stomach, making you become hot from the tension.
When you pulled back to catch some air, he pressed his lips against your again. His hand traveled to your cheek deliberately, thumb caressing your soft skin as he tilted his head to deepen the kiss. His fingers intertwined with your hair strands while you placed your hand on his lap as you were leaning in.
When you two backed away after a few minutes, your lips were swollen as you were breathless. You couldn’t believe that you had just kissed – made out even – with your best friend.
Your lips parted as you were trying to get even a word out of you. “You just – I just – we just-”
Taesan’s cheeks turned a light pink as he started laughing.
“Yeah. We really did. The kiss was so good it left you speechless.” He teased you even though he had felt the same way. You punched him on his arm playfully, but it still caused him to let out a groan. “Okay, okay!”
“Of course I was. You – well – we literally shared our first kiss with each other!” He chuckled.
“Yeah.” He nodded. “So what?” Your mouth parted from his response.
“So what?” You repeated.
“So what if I wanted my first kiss to be from you?” He answered fully. You were frozen. You didn’t know what else to say to argue back, which caused him to laugh at your reaction.
“But I’m being serious. I always wanted this to happen. To share my first kiss with the person I've been liking for so long.” Your eyes widened again.
“How long – when did you start liking me?” You quizzed him.
“Recently I've discovered that I actually like you. I couldn’t help but like you. Everything about you I've cherished from the way you act bossy to the way you fidget on your clothes whenever you feel distressed or nervous. Even to the way you smile – especially when you smile. I want to wake up and walk to school with you just to see you bully me and laugh about it. I’m really down bad as you can tell.”
You started laughing at his last comment.
“I’m being serious!”
“I know. I just can’t believe you actually feel this way.”
“I mean it’s pretty obvious.”
“How is it obvious-”
“You’re pretty oblivious then.” He let out a sigh before continuing. “The main thing I do to show you that I like you is by teasing you or letting you win against me.”
You paused as you were thinking about it but you turned to face him immediately. “I thought you did that to just piss me off-”
“Of course I did. I love seeing you overreact.” You shot him a glare, which made him start laughing again.
“Then what does that make us?” You said after a few seconds.
“Whatever you want. We can have this as a one-time thing, start dating if you are comfortable enough, stay as best friends even though I can’t keep my feelings to myself, or distance each other if you are uncomfortable.”
“What if I wanted to date you?” You questioned as you looked at him, swallowing the lump in your throat.
“Then we can.” He looked into your eyes as it made you smile.
“So it’s official then.”
“Mhm” He hummed at your response. “It’s official then.”
MY DESIRE FOR YOU ── You wouldn't imagine yourself going from watching a cute, wholesome movie in the living room with your boyfriend to being seated on top of your boyfriend making out on the couch.
💭 Rose's Note: "I think i'm losing my freak" only for me to become more freaky. If you guys can tell...this is a Yuta ver of 'My Love For You!' for Taeyong. This was in my drafts since July or August? I remember that I said that I was gonna write it but I just never touched the draft LOL.
All you remember was sitting in the living room with your boyfriend watching a cute romantic movie, already feeling like sobbing from the main couple drifting apart in the middle of the movie, and Yuta having to remind you that it was just a movie, but secretly he was feeling like tearing up as well. But you noticed that throughout the movie, his hand kept traveling to your thigh, messaging it before resting his hand on it. His hand reached for yours as he locked it together, tracing circles on your knuckles.
You caught him staring at your lips from time to time — which you had already caught on to his intentions.
"Do I have something on my lips or something?" You pointed at your lips to see what he would say.
"You like making it hard for me, don't you?" he spoke up.
In a blink of an eye, he had already leaned in, placing his lips on yours as you both shared a passionate kiss. In just seconds, he had already pulled you onto his lap and placed open-mouth kisses on your neck.
"Yuta! We're supposed to watch a movie." your tone was sounding sterner but at the same time, lovingly.
"So what?" his breath tickled your skin in between kisses. "It's not gonna stop me from loving you."
You couldn't argue back because at the same time, you wanted it too. So, you just let him be. He moved his head to face yours before his lips found yours again. His lips were soft as it was moving in sync with yours. His hand traveled to your hip, gently rubbing it in circles.
Yuta detached his lips away from yours, leaving you breathless as he was looking up at you for a moment, trying to adjust you on his lap as he lifted your arms to wrap around his neck. His eyes fluttered closed as he lips curved into a smile in-between the kiss.
The movie was already long forgotten, playing faintly in the background as you could only focus on his soft, warm lips moving in sync with yours.
His tongue brushed against your bottom lip before entering, making your hands fly to his shoulders, feeling the soft material of his jacket as you held a tighter grip on it.
"Fuck, you're so cute." He whispered in-between the kiss.
As you were trying to back away to catch your breath, he pressed his lips against yours, but he kept placing slow, multiple kisses on your lips.
"Yuta!" You exclaimed as you were giggling in between the kiss. "We have to do something about the movie-"
"We can turn it off or leave it on. Whatever you like." He flashed an innocent smile as his hands rested on your shirt with his fingertips brushing against your skin from under your shirt.
" Girl, when I'm not with you all I do is miss you. So come and set the mood right underneath the moonlight. Paint you with my eyes closed, wonder where the time goes. So come and set the mood right underneath the moonlight. "

TAEYONG WRAPPED HIS HAND AROUND YOURS as he was walking down the crosswalk. You could feel how warm and rough it was. He kept stealing quick glances at you, looking at how excited you were while observing the area around you.
You and Taeyong wore coats since it was slightly cloudy and chilly outside along with the smell of pastries filled the air since you passed by a bakery not too long ago.
"These buildings are so pretty!" you turned to face him.
"Yeah, and they're so tight together." he nodded as he was looking around before turning his attention to you. You were already looking in a different direction, which was looking over by the river.
"I wonder how cold the water is." He said as he looked over by the river as well, making you let out a chuckle.
"You could always jump in and see." You joked.
"I'm not that crazy." He started laughing, making you join along. He gave a light smile as he watched you looked at the shops from beside you.
You sprinted towards one of the shops that was at the end of the crosswalk. Taeyong took out his camera from his bag and put the camera settings on focus as he was looking at you.
His lips curved into a smile as he took the first picture, which was you looking at the freshly picked flowers from the stands outside of the shop. He took another, which was you leaning over the flowers, examining them.
Drop
Taeyong looked confused as he felt something wet press against his skin. He moved the camera down as he looked around, which something press on his cheek, making him look up.
Drip Drop
It had started to rain.
"Y/n, come over here!" Taeyong called out as he was going towards your direction.
Once he made it towards you, took off his jacket and placed it above your heads, and slid his free hand into yours.
"Taeyong, you're going to catch a cold-"
"It's fine. We can hurry back to the hotel. I'm sorry that we didn't really explore that much."
"Don't be sorry, it wasn't you're fault that it started raining."
"But I wanted to spend as much time before we have to get back-"
"It's fine! We'll still spend time with each other. We still have a few more days before we have to go, so we have enough time." He nodded
You could hear the sounds of raindrops press against the concrete thematically, and the sounds of cars passing by. Everyone that was walking past you two had brought out their umbrellas before placing it over their heads.
As the two of you headed down the street, swinging each other's hand softly, you unlocked your hand with his as you were walking out in the rain.
"Didn't you just warn me about catching a cold?"
"Yep." You walked ahead on the bridge that you two were about to cross.
He smiled again as he was following you. You stopped your tracks for a moment, moving your hand to block the rain from going into your eyes as you were spinning a little bit.
Taeyong stood for a moment before grabbing out his camera and taking another photo of you.
Click!
The photo showed how you were looking at the sky in amaze as the rain was falling from above, creating a cinematic photo. Taeyong was standing there, admiring how beautiful you looked in the photo.
"What are you doing?" You questioned, making him come back to his senses.
"Just taking photos." He wasn't technically lying, but he didn't say exactly what kind of photos he was taking.
You remembered how much he enjoyed taking his camera everywhere and taking photos of everything, he found that was 'artistic' and 'cinematic' to him. It wasn't a main hobby, but every time he goes traveling he will have to bring it with him just because.
Taeyong walked closer to you, placing his jacket above your heads again. He leaned in and placed a kiss on your forehead before locking his hand with yours.
"Let's go, alright?" He whispered, which you nodded your head.
"Okay." You responded as you held tighter to his hand.

NICE GUY ── Sungho has been admiring you from afar, sounds crazy right? BUT NOT IN A CREEPY WAY. And you who always come into the cafe for your mocha latte with a cinnamon roll and maybe to even take thirty minutes of your free time to look at the cute waiter. And the thing is both of you like each other, but Sungho is too much of a scaredy cat to ask you out. So, Sungho's friends creates a mission for him; to ask you out.
Now playing ; NICE GUY by BOYNEXTDOOR
💭 Rose's Note: I’m so sorry if this sounds typical in a way. I thought about doing the silly cafe vibe with ‘Nice Guy’ era but I found out everyone had already did this when I was almost done with it 😭😭😭
Sungho couldn’t take his eyes off something, or someone. He admired you from afar, which you sat at your usual spot; a table near the large window in the back of the shop where you would usually stare outside in your own world.
This time you were scribbling something down in your notebook, eyebrows furrowed in concentration. You played with your pencil in between your fingers, tapping it against the paper as you were reading through the pages of your book.
Sungho swallowed the lump in his throat and straightened his posture when he heard the door open from behind.
“You’re staring at her again.” Jaehyun, Sungho’s close friend who is also his co-worker, said as he stood beside him.
“What do you mean?” Sungho attempted to act like he didn’t know anything that was happening, making Jaehyun let out a sigh.
“Stop playing dumb. You know what I mean.” Jaehyun leaned towards the poor kid, making Sungho back up.
“Stop getting so close.” Sungho was trying to push Jaehyun away from him.
“Why don’t you just ask her out already? You've been staring at her without making any kind of conversation for the past two months already.”
“I have made conversation-”
“Besides taking her orders-"
“Yeah! I had actually made a real conversation with her. I found out she goes to the same school as us and her favorite subject is English.”
“Thats all?” Jaehyun tilted his head.
“I-” Sungho paused mid-sentence. He thought about it. He actually didn’t say anything else because he knew he didn’t even want to have more conversations with because he was basically being a scaredy cat to go and even ask a simple question like “What’s your favorite color?” “What's your favorite season?” and so on.
“So you actually didn’t have a full conversation with her. I already knew it.”
“It’s just hard asking her.”
“How?”
“Because,” Sungho crossed his arms and rested his head on it. “I don’t know how to start one without messing up really badly.”
“Then you should have called us!” Jaehyun used his thumb to point at himself. “I am the best flirt here, you know?”
“Who is us-”
“Everyone else that works here.” Jaehyun pointed towards the back door. “We can help you with that.”
“Really?” Jaehyun nodded at his response.
“Yeah. We can start whenever you’re ready. Just don’t start too late or else you will miss your chance.”
Sungho swallowed the lump in his throat as he was looking around, catching a glance from you before he turned back. “Can we start tomorrow?”
“Oh, aren’t you a confident one.” Jaehyun teased.
OPERATION 1: LOOK AT HER EYES
“I don’t know how to do this.” Sungho cleared his throat as he turned to face Jaehyun, who had a mischievous smirk.
“It’s alright. Just test it on me, okay?” Jaehyun hummed.
“How exactly?” Sungho raised a brow.
“Just like – practice your lines and movements around me.” Jaehyun grabbed Sungho’s wrist and placed his hand on his shoulder. “Go!”
“Uhm, this is awkward-”
“Just say it! Go on!” Jaehyun gestured his hand, demonstrating him to continue.
Sungho swallowed the lump in his throat. “I don’t know what to say.”
Jaehyun sighed, removing his hands off of him. “Okay, I'll help you with the first part. Once you encounter her, you could go towards her, grab – not aggressively or desperately - by her waist and pull her close to you, then say “Go out with me.”
Sungho stared at him confused. “That won’t work-”
“Yes it will!”
“No it won’t. That’s awkward-”
“It sounds awkward but that’s every girl's dream! For a man to come after them and confess in the most beautiful way possible.”
“That’s not beautiful, that’s harassing.” Jaehyun placed his own hand on his forehead.
“Just do the line! If it looks awkward on you then we don’t have to do that.”
“Okay, okay!” Sungho said as he placed his hands on his waist, clenching his jaw from being cringed and leaned him over.
“Go out with me.” Sungho’s voice dropped into a deep tone as he looked at Jaehyun.
You, who was stepping inside of the cafe, stared at the two boys in confusion, making Jaehyun and Sungho turn their attention towards you. Sungho dropped Jaehyun on the ground in an instant, making Jaehyun let out a groan.
“I’m sorry!-” Sungho said as he bit his lip before turning to face you. “This is not what you think-”
You bursted out laughing, placing your hand over your mouth as you were trying to stop yourself from laughing. “Oh okay.”
You started to approach Jaehyun to help out, but placed his hand up to stop your tracks. “It’s alright. I’m okay. You can go order something.” You nodded slowly before walking towards the front counter.
“You literally dropped me!” Jaehyun whispered at Sungho before shooting a glare at him.
“I’m sorry-” Sungho tried to apologize to the other, but he cut him off.
“Just go and order for her.” Jaehyun rubbed the back of his head. “I’ll be in the back, okay?” Sungho nodded as he watched Jaehyun disappear into the staffroom, leaving Sungho by himself with you.
Sungho rushed behind the counter and readjusted his nametag on his apron. “I’m sorry about that.” He scratched the back of his neck before facing your direction. “How may I take your order?”
You chuckled. “I would like a mocha latte with a cinnamon roll.” Sungho wrote your order down on a notepad while nodding.
“Is that all?” He turned to face you again. To stand there for a few seconds, looking over at the menu that was above him.
Sungho took that moment to just admire how you looked, which you furrowed your eyebrows, looking concentrated as your lips parted, reading the menu to yourself. At that moment, he licked his lips and immediately realized what he was doing. So, he turned the other way while resting his hands in his pockets, trying not to be distracted by you.
“I would like to get a small bottle of apple juice before I leave here.” He nodded.
“Do you want me to get it out now?” Sungho questioned.
“Yes please.” Sungho went towards the mini fridge beside him and took out the small bottle of apple juice that was designed in a pop-art way, and placed it onto the counter.
“Do you want to pay for everything now or wait before you leave?”
“I’ll pay for everything now.” You took off your backpack as you started to search for your wallet. Once you grabbed out your money and gave it to Sungho, you two held eye contact as his hand brushed yours.
You looked into his dark eyes, still holding eye contact. You could see his face more clearly since he was standing in front of you. You noticed how he got small eyebags and his pink tinted lips that parted lightly.
OPERATION 2: COMPLIMENT THE GIRL – NICE GUY!
Woonhak patted Sungho’s shoulder. “I can teach you how to compliment the girl!” Sungho sat against the couch, waiting for what else the other would say. Woonhak placed his phone in his pocket and sat beside Sungho. “It’s actually much easier than what you expect. You’re thinking way too deep about it.”
“What if I mess it up-”
“What did I just say?” Sungho closed his mouth, stopping himself from saying anything else. “You’re thinking too deeply about it. It’s like how you could compliment anyone around you but instead it’s towards someone who you deeply like.”
Woonkah readjusted his position on the comfort. “So when you compliment a girl, start off with little details about her. That’s what would make her feel more flattered. Like–”
“Her smile?”
“Yes!” Woonhak shot a cheeky smile. “Complimenting her smile would make her heart burst.” Sungho nodded as he gave a light smile. “I would try and figure the rest out on your own. It should come to you.”
“Are you able to help me practice?" Sungho asked.
“Yes, of course! Try it.” Woonhak patted his shoulder.
Sungho cleared his throat. “You look really nice today.” Woonhak nodded, signalling him to continue. “And…” Sungho paused as he started to feel nervous.
“It’s okay! Just breathe. Don’t stutter in front of her because she has to know you’re serious about her.”
“I am. I really am serious about this. It just makes me look weak-”
“You are not weak. You are just really downbad for her but in the shyest way.”
“That doesn’t make any sense-”
“Actually you are the definition of that new definition.” Sungho gave an awkward laugh, not sure how to reply back. “But let's focus. This is important, so continue please.”
Sungho readjusted his position, sitting straight as he faced Woonhak. “You look really pretty today, Y/n.” Sungho paused for a moment, thinking about what you usually wear when you come inside of the shop. “I think you should keep your hair down more.”
“Wait, I think you got this.” Woonhak beamed a smile, surprised by his confidence. “You will do great! Just continue with this and you will do well!”
“You think so?” Sungo looked at him confused.
“Yeah!”
OPERATION 3: Act Casual – OWN THE CITY
Leehan was across the counter, taking customer orders as Sungho and Jaehyun were in the back of the shop.
“You will take advice from Leehan.” Jaehyun patted Sungho’s shoulder.
“Why?”
“Look at him! Look at how calm he is whenever he takes customers orders, even when it comes to the girls.” Sungho watched Leehan, who was giving high schoolers their orders, noticing that their cheeks were turning into a tinted red.
Sungho let out a sigh. “How is he just so–”
“Relaxed. I agree as well.” Jaehyun nodded before facing Sungho again. “You can just ask him how he does it and it could help you with your confidence.”
“Now?” Sungho questioned.
“Yeah! Go!” Jaehyun pushed him towards the counter, making Sungho shoot a glare at him. Sungho dusted off his apron before he went beside Leehan.
“This sounds weird, but how do you,” Sungho moved his hand, trying to find the right words. “Act like that?”
Leehan furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. “Act like what?”
“So calm.” Leehan chuckled at his response. “What? Why are you laughing?”
“That’s an odd question.” Leehan wiped off the counter.
“Yeah, it does sound weird.” Sungho turned to face the window.
“Why do you want to know?” Leehan questions the other.
“Because I want to build more confidence in myself.” Sungho rested his palm on his cheek.
“I think you already have confidence in yourself. Being calm doesn’t necessarily mean that I have a lot of confidence. It just shows that you have to present yourself to other people in a nicer way. You could be calm to hide an emotion, but mostly it's just because I'm not noisy unlike some people.” Leehan eyed the other teenagers that were working in the back, specifically Jaehyun, making Sungho laugh.
Sungho knew he couldn't act casual because he isn't like Jaehyun, who is cool and flirty, and could pull every girl that steps inside the shop. Meanwhile Sungho is just an awkward, clumsy kid compared to him which he envied.
Sungho has to think about it. Has to think of a way to improve himself.
Leehan tapped Sungho’s shoulder, “Let me write something down for you, okay?” Sungho nodded, watching Leehan scavenge for something in his pocket, which he pulled out his phone.
Sungho waited for him and looked instantly at the new message.
“You want me to do that?” Sungho questioned.
“Yep. Practice when you get home. I believe in you.” Leehan patted his shoulder.
Maybe it can work afterall.
OBJECTIVE: CATCH THE GIRL!
Today was the day that Sungho was positive, and most definitely sure that he would ask you out. Thankfully from the help from his friends and co-workers, it actually helped build confidence in himself.
Sungho was standing behind the front counter, watching you from afar as he tapped his fingers on the surface anxiously. You got up from your table and collected all of your belongings before walking away from it. It was now his time to make a move. Sungho's eyes flickered towards his friend Jaehyun, which gave him a nod for him to go ahead.
Before you opened the door, Sungho stopped your tracks.
“Hi – uhm–” you turned to face him in confusion. Remember the steps. Look at her eyes, which seems like he couldn't even look away from it anyways. He mesmerized your face, noticing the littlest details on you, making him swallow the lump in his throat. Act natural, which he feels like he's going to stumble in front of you. And compliment the girl before taking action.
“You look really pre–” Sungho cleared his throat. “You look really pretty today.” He wasn't sure if he had said it naturally because he mumbled his words. That was a sign of not being confident enough.
Your mouth parted as you were speechless. “T-thank you.” Your cheeks burned into a crimson red.
Sungho wiped his clammy hands on his apron. “I was wondering if maybe you want to go out for lunch on Saturday if you're not busy?”
You flashed a smile immediately. “Yes!” You realized how you instantly said that way too quickly, making you clear your throat, trying to act natural. “Yes, I would love to have lunch with you. I'm not busy on the weekends.”
Sungho felt his chest starting to pound against his chest. It had actually worked and thankfully his clumsy, needy actions paid off! He couldn't fight back his lips from curving into a smile.
“Alright.” He nodded before turning in different directions, which Jaehyun and Woonhak gave a thumbs up, then he turned to face you again. “Can I pick you up at ten-thirty?”
You nodded at his question. “Yes!”
“Then it's a date?” You nodded.
“It's a date.” Before you could say anything, you noticed people were trying to get past, making you move towards the table beside the door.
“Oh – can I get your number?” Sungho questioned
“Yes!” You searched inside of your bag for something before pulling it out. You flipped through the pages of your notebook to find an empty page to write on. You ripped out the paper and started to scribble something on it. Once you are finished, you hand the paper to him.
“Can I text you when I get off of work?” Sungho questioned.
“Of course! Whenever is fine!”
“Alright. See you later!” The boy waved at you, whichever you waved back before leaving the shop.
Sungho felt like he was in a cartoon where explosions popped in celebration. He whispered to himself “Yes!” before turning back to the boys, who started clapping for him.
“You did it! You finally asked her out!” Jaehyun said, making Sungho start grinning towards himself. “You better let me be your guy's waiter.”
“Oh, no you won't-”
“That's all I get? I feel hurt” Jaehyun said dramatically as he placed his hand against his own chest.
“You'll make it awkward-”
“I promise I won't do anything besides serving you guys. I swear” Sungho rolled his eyes before he started chuckling.
“Fine. If you do anything that will embarrass me, I'll ruin your next date.”
“Okay!” Jaehyun raised his hands up. “I promise.”
“Good.” Sungho walked towards the back of the counter as he couldn't stop smiling to himself.

You felt a soft pressure against your lips. Taeyong locked his lips with yours, sharing a passionate kiss. Both of you guys were sitting on the sofa in the living room all tangled up together. It had started off by a few pecks until it went deeper into the kiss. Your guys' eyes were closed as you indulged into the kiss - having both of your lips in sync with each other. His hand had traveled to your hip, gently tracing circles on it with his thumb, while his other hand pulled you closer to his lap. The way that he tilted his head, angling it enough for him to deepen the kiss had driven you insane. His glasses glided against your skin during the process. He took his time - savoring every second of you so tenderly and gently as if you were so fragile to him- like as if you were the most precious thing to him.
"You're so precious, baby." Taeyong murmured in-between each kiss. "Your lips are so soft." You only responded with a giggle.
His hands roamed all over your body - couldn't even stay in one spot. The hand that was rested on your hip had ghosted your cheek while your fingers tangled in his blonde hair. He couldn't help but adore the moment that you guys were sharing. It was romantic and sweet - just like how he loves it.
Both of you guys pulled away, catching each other's breaths as it made him admire the work he has done - which was having your lips slightly swollen while at the same time, your face being flushed. His glasses were foggy from him breathing a lot through his nose. He loved the state that you were in. It drove him crazy. You were like an addictive drug to him - something that makes him addicted to wanting every taste of you.
"Look at you- all flustered and cute." Taeyong teased as he was grinning, leaning back on the couch scanning your face.
You were giggling so much, "Stop it."
He placed his hands on your lap as he leaned in again, kissing from your cheek down your neck as he was placing gentle kisses on your neck - on your sweet spot to exact. God, he even knows exactly where that was. It made your breath hitch, sending goosebumps everywhere around your body while your lips parted slightly. He kept pulling you closer to him, as if you would disappear away from him. His hand slipped under your shirt, caressing your back.
When his lips pulled away from your neck after a few minutes, it had created a visible mark on your neck, making you breathless.
"I love you." he said as he was rocking you slightly with a smile tugged on his lips.
"I love you too, Tae." your lips curved into a smile. He placed a peck on your cheek.

💭 Rose's Note: I reposted this and revised it because it didn't get any likes in 2 hours. I thought I was gonna be late for to post a Halloween oneshot, but surprisingly I've finished it in a day. I GOTTA ALSO STOP BEING BREAKY MAN OMG 😭
You don't know what's going on inside of his head. One moment he could yell at you for doing something that didn't look right to him and then he will go around the mansion being mad for the rest of the night as if he slept on the wrong side of the bed.
You were almost confused on why you were even there, but you had to remember that you made your decision to stay with him, so you weren't exactly forced to stay there. You two were bonded by fate, even though he is immortal and you're mortal. So Yuta claimed you as his only if you had accepted – which you did. So, you are his forever only yet you didn't sign up for the sudden rudeness and selfishness from him.
It's been a little over six months since you've stayed with him. So you had quickly understood him and learnt more about him like his interests and a little bit more about his past. So why is it that he seemed off throughout the past week?
Since it's usually normal for you to hear his bickering and complaints, he’s just been silent– which was weird. You even asked if he was alright, but he only responded with “I’m fine.” before walking away or switching topics. The only thing that didn't change was him forcing you to clean up the castle.
You were sitting at one of the chairs in the library, reading one of the dusty, old books that haven't been touched from what seems like decades. You flipped through the pages, scanning through it as you were getting interested in the book, but you felt a pair of hands lay on your shoulder.
“What are you reading, Angel?” A deep, husky voice spoke from behind you. You glanced at his hand before turning your head to see that it was Yuta leaned beside you, examining what you were doing which he caught on that you were probably reading since you had a book in front of you.
“I'm just reading a random book that was from over there.” You pointed towards the stacked bookshelves that were across from you.
His eyes flickered towards the page, not giving you another word as he was reading what page you were on. Since he was standing next to you, it gave you a chance to just stare at him, looking at how perfect he looks as if he was sculpted by the gods because he looked ethereal. How does he even look like this? Look so perfect? You thought to yourself. You saw how his Adam's apple bobbed from swallowing his saliva, and how he seemed interested in the book?
He licked his lips. “Do you like romance?” He questioned, causing you to drift out of your daydream.
“Yeah.” He nodded at your response before fixing his position.
“If you like that book, I can recommend some more later.” You nodded as you watched him walk out of the library.
You were leaving the library, already feeling like passing out as you were walking down the halls. But you had to tell yourself that you were almost there. All you had to do was walk up the stairs and just lay down on your bed when you reached your room. When you reached the stairs, you were about to take a step until something had pulled you back, making you turn to face it, which was Yuta.
“Yes?” You questioned.
“I uh-” He looked at how his hand was wrapped around your wrist before he pulled away quickly. “I'm sorry about that- but do you want some tea before you lay down?”
“Yeah.” You nodded. “I could use some so it'll be easier for me to go to sleep.” He nodded as he walked away.
You followed his footsteps where he led you two into the kitchen. You noticed that there was already a black mug on the counter that was filled with the freshly made tea since it had steam coming out of it. Yuta grabbed one of the mugs from the cabinets, which was a maroon color that you had bought a few months ago, and placed it on the counter. He grabbed the tea kettle that was placed on top of the stove, opened the lid, and poured the tea inside of the mug before closing it and putting it back on the stove.
“Don’t drink it yet. You can drink it when it becomes warmer.” Yuta warned you as he walked around the counter to get his mug.
As you were waiting, you were fidgeting as you were feeling the random awkwardness creep up on you.
“What flavor is the tea?” You asked out of the blue.
“Peppermint. Helps with falling asleep and relaxing nerves.“ You nodded.
And then it was awkward again. You didn't know what to say or what to do. Should you even do something or will it disturb him?
“You can drink your tea now.” He spoke up, causing you to nod fast.
“Oh, thanks.” You picked up the mug and drank the warm liquid.
Yuta watched as you drank the tea, making his fingers tap onto the counter before he spaced out into his thoughts.
Once you placed the mug onto the table, you glanced at him. You saw how his black painted fingernails tapped rhythmically onto the counter. Yuta leaned over the counter with his hair strands over his eyes, and you noticed his button up was a little bit more unbuttoned than usual as it was tucked into his trousers.
“Yuta?” You questioned. He didn't answer until you tapped his shoulder.
“Hmm?” He turned to face you.
“Are you good?” You asked with concern.
“Yeah. Just thinking.” He grabbed his mug that was placed on the counter. “I'm going to just sit inside of the front room.” Yuta walked past you, making you look back at his figure as he disappeared into the halls.
Are you overthinking things because why does he keep walking away from you?
It was an hour later as you had woken up in the middle of the night from sweating a lot in your dreams from having the covers over you for a while. You moved the blanket off of you, legs hitting against the mattress as your feet slipped into your house shoes.
You had gone downstairs and approached the living room where his figure was still in. The room was dim as the only light source was the fire from the fireplace while Yuta was sitting on one of the chairs that was next to a night stand, reading a book. You saw how his eyes were scanning through the pages, but got out of his state when you interrupted him by walking over the creaking floor.
“I thought you had gone to bed.” He said as he lowered his book.
“I was but I had woken up not too long ago.” He nodded before he lifted the book, and turned to another page. You fidgeted with your fingers, looking around the living room as you were trying to form the right words to say to Yuta without trying to annoy him.
Your mouth parted as you were already hesitating, “Yuta,” his eyes drifted to you, making you feel anxious as he was staring at you. “Are you okay?” you questioned.
“Yes, I'm perfectly fine-”
“I mean overall. Throughout the week you've been quiet and distant in a way.”
“I thought you would like peace.”
“But-”
“Y/n,” he placed the book on the night stand. He looked at you for a moment as his finger curled and moved forward, signaling you to come closer.
You approached him, but you kept a distance. He did it again, which you were now in front of him, legs already hitting against the chair since he was in a man spread.
“Sit on my lap.” He ordered, making your eyes widen from the sudden command.
“I uhh-” Before you could say anything, he placed his hands on your waist, picking you up before placing you on his lap.
You felt your cheeks warm up from the sudden close proximity. Your heart was racing fast, feeling like it was going to burst out of your chest at any moment. The corner of Yuta's lip curved into a smirk as he realized the meaning behind your facial expression.
“I've been keeping my distance away from you.” He suddenly says. “It's not because of you entirely. It's because I can't stand the smell.”
“What smell?” You questioned.
“You. Your scent is so fucking strong. You smell so sweet – and I just can't stand it. I've been out hunting for animals to help satisfy my hunger but it didn't work because your scent was getting in the way, making me crave for you.”
“Why don’t you take some of my blood?” You said as you looked at him.
“Because I don’t want to.”
“Why not-”
“Because I don’t want to accidentally turn you into a vampire.” Yuta raised his voice in a more serious way.
He looked into your eyes as he was waiting for you to say something else, but you just kept it to yourself.
“Just do it.” You blurted out. “Just take some since you haven't been drinking any blood lately.”
“Did you not understand what I mean-” He rested his hand on his forehead in distress as he tried to argue back.
“Yes I already know what you mean. It's okay, Yuta.” You rested your hand beside his. “We are fated together, so it's fine if I turn into one.”
“But you're too young. You didn't even experience your full twenty years–”
“Yuta,” You interrupted again. “It's fine.”
He looked into your eyes for any lies or discomfort, but he found none. His jaw clenched in thirst at the thought of him imagining what your blood would taste like.
Yuta swallowed the lump in his throat. “Are you really sure?” he questioned.
“Yes.” you responded as you looked into his eyes.
It took about a few seconds before he made a move. He moved hesitantly towards your neck as he waited for any signs of you to try and stop him. But since you didn’t say or do anything, he tilted his neck, lips pressing against your skin as he was placing light kisses on your neck, trying to make you not think about how it would hurt you before his teeth grazed your skin. You felt his fangs stick out before pressing onto your skin, jerking your hands onto his shirt as you clenched it from the pain.
You could hear a long sound that vibrated your neck, sending goosebumps all over your body from him being satisfied with your taste.
It was even better than what he had imagined.
You tasted sweet – too sweet from him and he just wanted more of you.
“Fuck.” You whispered under your breath as you felt your eyes watering. Yuta's hand traveled to your back, rubbing slow circles on your back as he was trying to ease the pain away,
You could feel your blood pulsing, making you feel like you're about to pass out at any moment as your vision was getting blurry. Yuta couldn't help himself. He promised himself that he'd stop once you feel exhausted, but he couldn't stop himself. He loved the way you taste, making him crave you even more.
He finally moved away after a few moments, blood sliding down his lip before he licked across it.
“Are you okay? Do you feel like you're going to pass out?” He said with concern as his hand traveled to your cheek.
“Y-yeah.” You said as you were trying to keep yourself up. He didn’t know which question you were answering, but he picked you up bridal style and carried you over to the couch that was across from the chair, and placed you on it.
He walked out of the room for a few moments before coming back with a glass filled with orange juice. He sat beside you, giving you the glass.
You took the glass from him, but his hand was still resting on it, “Drink it slowly so you won’t choke on it.” He said as he was helping you drink it.
“I'm sorry that I caused you discomfort-” he said after you placed the glass down on the coffee table.
“No, it's fine. Did it satisfy you enough-”
“Don’t worry about me. I could have possibly killed you or something because I drank too much-”
“It's fine, Yuta.” He wanted to protest against it, but he didn’t want to cause an argument, so he had stopped himself before saying anything more.
His eyes traveled to yours as you both held eye contact for a while. You noticed how his eyes softened a bit as he was admiring you. This look was something different. He looked a bit more relaxed.
“You're so pretty.” He blurted out, making your cheeks warm up.
“Why did you say that all of a sudden?” you laughed awkwardly. “Are you drunk from the blood or something-”
“No. I've just never told you what I've felt about you yet,” he leaned in closer to you, face inches apart as his hands rested on both sides of you on the couch. “You're mine, and only mine. It sounds selfish, but I want you all to myself.”
“I'm yours, Yuta. Always.” You confessed, making him swallow the lump in his throat as he was processing your words.
Yuta licked his lips before he made a move. He leaned in slowly as he was waiting for you to show any sign of discomfort, but instead he saw that you looked desperate. So he tilted his head as his lips brushed against yours.
His lips were warm and soft, moving in sync with yours as you could taste your blood that was stained on his lips, making your breath get caught in your throat. The kiss was slow and passionate as it was building tension. His hand traveled your cheek deliberately and carefully, leaning on his elbows as the other hand locked with yours, pushing it beside your head.
After a few moments, he backed away as both of you were trying to catch your breath. The taste of your blood had lingered in your mouth. But before you could even react, he leaned back, sharing another kiss. This time it was filled with desperation as if he's been waiting to do this for ages.
His teeth grazed your bottom lip as his tongue slipped inside. You let out a soft sound as his tongue danced with yours. His hand slipped away from yours as it traveled under your shirt, resting on your skin. Before he could do anything else, he backed away as both of your lips were swollen.
He stared at you for a few moments before he leaned below you, placing kisses on the dark bruise on your neck.
“I'm sorry.” He murmured in between the kisses. “I'm sorry for hurting you.” Each kiss was an apology and a way of showing how much he was cherishing you. He placed one last kiss on your neck before he moved away, looking into your eyes with sincerity.
He saw how your eyes were closed before it fluttered open when he had stopped his movements. He noticed how your night gown strap was already falling down lazily as your chest was rising from breathing heavily.
“Do you feel comfortable with me continuing?” Yuta asked for your consent, eyes softening at you. You noticed that his shirt was still unbuttoned a lot from before and his chest was rising up from breathing heavily as well.
You nodded. “Yes.”
Yuta's hand wrapped around your wrist, placing your hand on his chest as he trailed down to his stomach. “I'll make it up to. I promise I'll make you feel better.”
EXTRA SCENE (this is optional)
Your eyes fluttered a few times, trying to adjust your vision as you noticed some of the light beaming through the curtains since you were waking up from a sudden moment. As you observed the area, you were remembering what happened the previous night, and noticed an arm was wrapped over your stomach. Your hands rested on the large blanket that was over you, covering below your collarbone, and you turned to face him, which he titled his head.
“Did I wake you with the rocking?” You heard how husky and deep his voice was from him waking up.
You didn't even realize that he was rocking you slightly until he had mentioned, but you shook your head.
“No, I had just woke up.” You said as you turned to face him. Your eyes drifted from his eyes to his chest. “This feels so comfortable.” you said as you were readjusting your position.
Yuta chuckled at your comment. “My back is already hurting.”
“Is it because I'm adding more weight on you?” You questioned
“No. It's because I only laid on one position throughout the night.” You nodded.
You two stared into each other's tired eyes, just laying there relaxing without saying anything so it wouldn't disturb the moment. You could see him forming a smile from adoring you.
You turned your head slightly in confusion. “What is it?”
“You look so cute.”
“Hey.” You said playfully as you laid in your chest on top of him.
“I'm being serious. You just look cute laying on top of me.” His hand rubbed your back in slow circles.
Your eyes drifted to his lips, looking at how soft it looks being pressed against each other.
“You're staring, Angel.” He spoke up.
“So?” You chuckled. “I can't help it.” He smiled again, leaning in as he pressed his lips against yours slowly.
The kiss was lazy yet he still put in effort, placing his hand behind the nape of your neck as his fingers tangled in your hair. He pulled away but you pressed your lips back onto his desperately. You both closed your eyes as you felt his hand caressed your back, fingertips brushing against your skin before resting on it.
You could feel the vibration of his laugh against your lips. “You're a needy one.” You laughed along at his response.
When you two stopped after a while, his eyes were on your swollen lips before looking back at your eyes.
“You are mine forever.” He said softly as his eyes never left yours.
“Always.” You responded back before he pulled you closer to him.
