Huge news!! My friend omgthecollector on Discord and a contributor to the Gravity Falls Wiki, managed to get in touch with Wes Dzioba who did the colouring for the original covers of the Gravity Falls Shorts Cinestory comic books in 2017 and he just released to her the original cover art for the books in full HD!!
If you don't remember, these books were part of the Cinestory book line that Disney made in the late 2010s. These books basically were retellings of Gravity Falls episodes in comic book form. The ones for the GF shorts had these original covers with art originally made by James Silvani, with Wes having done the colouring.
And speaking of James Silvani, he did the line art for these covers and with his permission, Wes also was able to release the line art for the books as well!
This is pretty cool as these books, while not super popular among Gravity Falls fans, did have cool cover original art. And back in mid 2017; when it seemed like Gravity Falls was on its way out and Journal 3 Special Edition and the coloring book would be it before Alex announced Lost Legends, this was pretty cool to have made for the show...even if it was for a very small thing.
I'm so glad we now have the original cover art to enjoy.
Oh, and also, getting the line art also has confirmed one other mystery about the Cinestory shorts; this mystery character seen in the cover of the first book was always there and designed like that. It wasn't some messed up Pacifica design as first thought...they were always there!
Hell, I even asked James about this years ago and he had no clue who this is and where this character came from. Are they real? Are they a mystery character lost to time? Who knows. But at least we now know they really were designed like this.
