Arbitrary Card of the Day 4-6-14: Cinder Pyromancer
Today's Arbitrary Card of the Day is Cinder Pyromancer. Greg Staples has been creating Magic art for a long time now. I very much enjoy this piece of art for two major reasons. First, the high lighting contrast layers the art to highlight the shapes within it. The outermost layer is dark, then the fiery shape behind the Elemental, who in turn is dark again. Finally, the focus of the art is the glowing orb of fire between the Elemental's hands. This contrast is also played up with color, as the two fiery layers are yellow and blue, respectively. This separates them from each other and keeps the layers in a rigid order to prevent confusion.
