Sounds of chatter, laughter, and cries filled the Howard Theater last night in Washington D.C, as people gathered to say their final good-byes to the “Father of Go-Go” Chuck Brown.

Chuck was a well-known, singer, musician, songwriter, record producer, guitarist on the East Coast. His music brought all races and age groups together to enjoy one common love, Music.

Chuck Brown started his career in the late 1960’s playing the guitar with Jerry Butler and The Earls of Rhythm, which led him to having solo hits “I Need Some Money” and “Bustin Loose”. Brown also did remakes of early jazz and blues song, “Go-Go Swing”- Duke Ellington, “It Don’t Mean a Thing If Ain’t Got That Swing” is one that everyone will remember for generations to come.

Many musicians and bands looked up to Chuck Brown for being able to create soulful music that allowed all people to come together and have a good time.

Chuck always promoted peace and love, his name was never associated with violence. When speaking with a few people, everyone agreed on several things, Chuck gave back to the community, never promoted violence and of course everyone agreed that Chuck Brown’s music will be missed but never forgotten.
