Norsery Rhymes from A to Z Matrons Chuchenehae, the Protective Matrons of Kuchenheim
Happy Thorsday! - Here’s another 20 min sketch of a Norse (and Germanic, Celtic) mythological characters. This week it’s the Matrons Cuchenehae / Matronae Chuchenehae / Channihae. Three Guardian Matron (Mothers) and Goddesses, found mentioned in and around Zulpich and Kuchenheim in Euskirchen near Cologne in Germany. Protective Matrons of the town of Kuchenheim. Their name could have been derived from the local hill as their name is thought to have derived from the pre-germanic word for high ‘hauha’.
