A little apprehensive about the Chronicle 2 announcement, but Iâll wait to see how the project shapes up. Sounds like thereâll be at least some rehashing with the new characters getting their powers and all. I just hope thereâs a real story to be told. Canât say I wouldnât be interested to see Matt show up though.

Idea for Chronicle 2
Here is my idea for Chronicle 2.
ACT I
After Matt suddenly left her, Casey began trying to put together what all happened by finding and assembling all the footage of the first movie. In the process of that, Matt returns to her and theyâre all happy for a bit. But while Casey edits together the first movie, she discovers that Matt occasionally stalked her in the sky and she confronts him about it and that leads to a fight where Casey starts asking questions that really bother Matt. Sorta mean things about Andrew, basically. The fight accumulates to Matt leaving and stealing her much beloved camera to make it hurt even more. While flying away he starts to sense something. He goes to investigate and he realizes that there are more people with superpowers. Heâs very excited at the idea of no longer being alone with powers and in his excitement, he forgives Casey and tells her about who he saw. She warns him that they might not be good people and questions why he hadnât been able to sense them until now. He figures sheâs still upset about their previous fight and dismisses her warnings.
ACT II
After that sorta fight, Matt leaves again to go hang out with these other superheros. They live on a commun, boot camp type place in the mountains. Everyone there basically has the same story. Somehow they discovered the same thing Matt and his friends had found in the first movie and before they knew it, they had superpowers. Then one day they stumbled across this place, fell in love and never left. Practically everyone there is super nice and inviting. Thereâs a few bullies though and a leader or two who are kinda pricks, but other than that, everyone is great. Matt starts training with everyone else, even teaching people some things heâs learned. Heâs questioned about his camera by some of the closer friends he makes and he says its his way of honoring his cousin. That scores him major lady points, but he turns down advances because heâs still in love with Casey. This makes him miss her, so he decides to go visit her, but he canât leave. Suddenly, he is unable to fly! Unsure of what to do, Matt goes to the lady that tried to do him for advice, but sheâs acting suspicious. He tries to leave her but is stopped. After a fight with her, heâs imprisoned. They let him film as a way to show him that they arenât the bad guys. They simply imprisoned him to make sure that he isnât a bad guy. Some time passes, and a breakout happens. It was by one of Mattâs other superpowered friends, but he is reluctant to trust them. The guy responds with, âWhat choice do youâ and  he goes with him.
ACT III
Some of the people there were people who had bullied Matt. Both the resistance and the leader had been testing Matt. The leader wanted to see how powerful Matt could be and the resistance wanted to see if he really was a good guy. They make their way to a different secret base where the friend reveals that the leader of the camp was manipulating everyone into coming there and basically brainwash them into helping him take over America. Upon this realization, other camp members tried to escape, but were imprisoned, just like Matt. Others also wanted to leave, but figured out that all their friends were getting imprisoned and not actually leaving. So they started a coup. But the leader shut that shit down cause heâs super powerful. Then Matt showed up and everyone could see his potential because he is super strong and can fly really well. They figured he would be the key to stopping the leader from taking over America. Matt felt very honored by their complements, but pointed out that everyone is basically a Superman and that it is almost impossible to kill one of them, so thereâs seemingly no way to stop the leader. Someone then realizes that the leader had the same problem, but that heâs probably just going to go after everyoneâs loved ones and say that heâs gonna kill them if the good guys donât let themselves be killed. Mattâs like, âOh Shit. I bet they know about Casey.â So he makes a plan where they go round up their loved ones for safe keeping. They go do that. Matt and Casey make out. Its hot. But then the bad guys show up anyway and start killing the loved ones in a very public manner. Turns out the bad guys anticipated the resistance wanting to protect their families, so they just waited until the good guys lead them straight to the loved ones. The city over which the bad guys are executing the loved ones was picked purposely because it is close to a military base and they wanted to show off just how powerful they really are. And when the military does come, they get destroyed. Like they were little toys. It gets to the point where Matt realizes theyâre losing and there is no hope of them winning. So he decides that this time heâs gonna run away with Casey. He takes her and as he flies off, he tries surpassing his signal so the bad guys canât find him again. But when theyâre a good ways out of the city, they see a missile head straight for town and then they see that it was a nuke and it destroyed the whole place. Matt and Casey figured that all the bad guys died right then and there so they have nothing to worry about anymore.
Chronicle 3
The bad guys didnât die in the nuclear explosion. They saw it coming and were able to protect themselves in time. Though some saw it too late and look a little fucked up. And at some point Matt figures out where that blue thing came from and why it was here in the first place. Eventually he uses that knowledge to stop the bad guys from taking over the world.

Chronicle Explained
Max Landis, wrapping up his panel at Comikaze 2013, decides to explain how the kids in Chronicle got their powers. And alludes to what would have happened in the trilogy if he stayed on board. Worth a watch (contains some explicit language).

Fox Hires New Screenwriter for âChronicle 2âČ
The development for Chronicle 2 has been slow over the last few months, after the original filmâs writer Max Landis left the project last year after Fox turned down his pitch for the sequel.  However, it now appears that Fox has finally brought Chronicle 2  back on track after hiring newcomer Jack Stanley to write the script.
Itâs no surprise that Fox is still wanting to move forward with a ChronâŠ
