Angstober - Day 7 - “You Still Don’t Get It.” @angstober
After Mukuro was released from Vindice's prison, the first thing he did was send Chrome away, without an actual reason, just throwing her away like a piece of trash. To be honest that hurts like hell, the girl thought they had a deep bond and they would be together from now on that he was free. But that seemed like a one-sided wish.
But leaving for Namimori School was really good for Chrome, she made friends, realized the importance of herself, and got even stronger when she realized that she didn't need to depend on him.
So she believed that that was what Mukuro wanted for her and why he pushed her away, for her to be her own person. But one day, when she decided to return to Kokuyo land, missing Ken and Chikusa, but also Mukuro, what she received wasn't a welcome or even a nice word, it was the scowl of the Male Mist Guardian.
"Nagi, I thought I said for you not to return."
His cold words made her shiver as she blinked in confusion. But she was ready for that, in a way, she even expected him to say that. Mukuro-sama, I get it, you wanted me to be my own person, to live for myself and I'm doing it. That is why I'm here, I missed you guys. But I'm not staying.
"That is not it. You are not welcome here anymore, I don't care if you are your own person."
That felt like cold ice water had been dumped on her, as she now didn't understand why he was doing that. If that wasn't it, why would he throw her away? Did she lose all the valor or utility for him? What was the reason for him to throw her away?
Did he really only use her? Mukuro-sama, I can't understand... Did you really just use me? And now that you are free you decide to just throw me away like that? Her voice broke as she spoke that to him, not entirely sure what she expected as an answer.
Did Mukuro really want to have this talk? No. To be honest, he had Nagi in high regard, she felt like the humanity he lost, and she was the reason for him to keep himself alive and sane, to work for the better, and no matter how dirty his hands got to make the world better. Mukuro was willingly working with Vongola exactly because of Nagi.
But that also meant that she was his weakness, Rokudo Mukuro's weakness was a girl who was one year younger than him and had a high resemblance in appearance and powers.
More importantly though, because of how much he valued the girl, he didn't want her to get her hands dirty, he didn't want her to see the dirty world around them, the dark world that is the Mafia. He wanted her far away. After all, Rokudo Mukuro knew better than anyone else, how much work the Decimo Vongola would have from now on, to clean the Mafia and the Vongola per se.
So it was better if the girl was around Sawada Tsunayoshi who would keep her hands clean and protect her innocence than staying with him, who would only get his hand dirtier and bloodier now. As he looked at the girl, he couldn't show any sight of what he was thinking, if he needed to lie to her, if he needed to hurt her to keep her away from him, then... So be it. "Yes. You are right. I have no use for you."
You... Are lying! Chrome said loudly at him, as she walked towards him, looking into mismatched eyes, with her only one. She would know better than anyone else. After all, they were bonded together. She may not understand why or how, but she knew very well, their souls were bounded together. Mukuro-sama, please! Just tell me the truth. I know you are lying!
“You Still Don’t Get It.” Mukuro really didn't want to talk about it, but as she was his only weakness, it was also the only place he felt like himself, the only place where he could be fully vulnerable.
Then make me understand! I think... I think I deserve to know!
Taking a deep breath, heterochromatic eyes closed and tried to relax and think with a clean mind. Yet nothing came to his mind, maybe... Maybe it was time to fully explain it... Or maybe not. "I can't. Nagi, don't..."
You said for me to fight for what I think is right! So I'm, I won't leave until you explain to me!
Mukuro's face now mirrored the sorrow and sadness he was feeling, as he couldn't keep it going. He couldn't keep that façade going, he needed to explain. "Our souls, are intertwined. We were supposed to either be born together as siblings or meet each other after a few years and date, having a romantic relationship. This time, apparently we were supposed to be siblings but fate decided to not let that happen. So we were born in different families."
As the Male Mist Duo started to talk, he couldn't keep looking at the younger face. "I don't want you to get involved in my revenge against Mafia, I don't want you to dirty your hands. But also... You are my weakness. If anything happens to you... I... Don't think I can keep myself sane or even human. So please Nagi... Keep yourself away from me."
The Female Mist Duo looked at him and sighed, now understanding his worries and fears, she gently placed her hands over his cheeks, making him look at her. But that also means... We are strong together. I'm not going anywhere. Please Mukuro-sama... Just give us a chance to talk about this.
Her gentle pleas and touch, were enough to break him, a sad smile, as he placed one of his gloved hands over hers. He couldn't push her away anymore, closing his eyes as he nodded. "Okay."
That night, they talked a long long long talk about everything, and was on that night that the Mist Guardian was finally back to be one. The Duo got far stronger and more unified than ever.
