He had felt her. It was coming down all around them, everything theyâd known and fought for. Everything was burning, cracking and falling apart. He gripped her, dragging her weight with him toward the escape pod. There was no way he was leaving her here. Her fingers curled into him and solidified his resolve. The pod was so close.
Another crack and he felt himself sliding backward with her. The ship was falling apart. The tilt of the floor inclined dramatically, sweeping him and her from any stability on the ground. His back hit the pod hard with her in his arms. He reached for the console to open the door and rolled into it with her. Another rough hit. Running off of pure adrenaline he managed to reach up to the now vertical console and shut the pod. With a rough pull of the release latch they shot off away from the fiery death that was their home.
The pod stabilized after leaving the ship and got them upright. He caught her arms and allowed her to rest where she was. She didnât look good. He removed her helmet and saw the blood on her lips, in her lungs, not good. The troopers chest ached. His hand cupped her face and he brought his forehead to hers. âStay with me. Stay with me pleaseâŚJust hold on.â
Letting go of her he fumbled for a standard medkit in the pod. Probably not nearly what he needed but it was better than nothing. Next he worked on getting her armor off piece by piece. FN-2437 assessed the damage once she was cleared of her armor and got to work in the ways he knew how. He propped her up to help her breathe. She needed a meddriod but they were far away from that at the moment. Making sure she was braced he set her arm. It was broken in several places, he did the best he could with what he had. When he was satisfied with her arm he moved to her leg, making sure she could still breathe through it. When he was certain he had everything straightened at least he collapsed beside her.
He soaked a cloth from the medkit with water and began to clean her face, still covered in blood.
