Voiceover: [Underscored by Melodramatic Piano Music] And now for another episode of Hurling Great Works of Literature at Christopher Loar. This week, Gravity’s Rainbow, by Thomas Pynchon.
Chris: [Task is to give as best of an extemporaneous book report on the work as possible.] Gravity’s Rainbow, yeah that’s Thomas Pynchon who’s one of those important writers that writes incredibly long books, like Gravity’s Rainbow, which I haven't read but I hear is worth it, but intensely long, similar to Infinite Jest in the work required to get through it, and I’m on board with that maybe just not for a while, I did try to read Inherent Vice but couldn’t really get into it-
Somewhere in the middle of this text, another performer makes an elongated yell, a kind of battle cry, i.e. “YAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!” from the back of the house, runs down to the edge of the stage and hurls said book at Chris’ torso, ideally making contact.
