THE MARRIAGE MEMOIR

Just wanted to put this out from my heart to any young lad/lady preparing themselves for marriage or anyone struggling to hold onto their fragmented, fragile marital life. I vividly remember the year I finished my undergrad, turned 20 and made this huge decision of getting married after our parents decided that we were to.. and also after I sought Gods will over it (which is key and an whole another topic to deal with) and Oh! my stars, I was this young studious girl with lots of dreams & ambition, naive, half informed and knew nothing about this marriage, relationships stuff and how it works; although I loved the thought of wearing a beautiful white gown; the flowers, the rings, the bridesmaids, the tiara and the beauty of it all.. just the thought of it made me go aww like every other young girl!! 😉

And cut to today after 8years of marriage, let me be really honest.. over the years when love tends to grow cold, familiarity creeps in and disagreements become a daily dose, when each of us want to be understood better than the other, things don't line up as you think it should, expectations are not met, dreams don't become reality, communicating well becomes a big deal, when giving up feels like a seemingly reasonable and easy option; its crazy hard to keep loving, keep giving and keep going through the ups and downs. (Im sure my husband will agree 😁).

But its amazing how mutual honor and the love for Jesus you have as individuals and together drives you, safeguards you and keeps the thin strand stay unbroken, coz a cord of three fold strand is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12) And He is the third strand, the true Witness, the ultimate Matchmaker. We never knew what we were getting into, but He fully knew and time and again I've seen and perceived through the stories and lives around me, that the strongest of marriages have to go through the toughest of times. #HeRestores 💪
