Morello Racing Kawasaki introduce new rider line‑up for 2019 Superstock

Chrissy Rouse and Tim Neave will lead the Morello Racing campaign on the new Ninja ZX-10RR during the twelve round BSB Superstock 1000 Championship in 2019.

Being well-versed in racing success and having the 2017 Superstock 1000 title to their name, the team are planning to bounce back after a tough season this year and land themselves back where they belong in 2019.

Team Owner Steve Buckenham is excited about his new rider line-up saying, “We have been watching Chrissy for a while now and after finding out he was looking for a ride in Superstock 1000 again, we sat down and agreed to a deal for him to ride the Ninja ZX-10RR which we both agreed it would suit his riding style. In addition, we welcome Tim Neave to the team and we truly believe that he has the potential to run in the top 5 right from the outset. Both riders are looking forward to getting out for pre-season testing as neither have ridden a Kawasaki previously. The team can’t wait to get going in 2019!”

Kawasaki Motors UK Senior Racing Coordinator, Ross Burridge trusts that this is the year the team will reclaim their rightful honours, saying, “I really felt for the team this year as their bike is fantastic, however for numerous reasons things just didn’t click. Regardless we remain fully confident in the team’s ability and we are looking forward to seeing what Chrissy and Tim can do on our new and improved Ninja ZX-10RR. With a comprehensive testing programme ahead of them, there is no reason why both riders won’t be fighting for race wins right from the outset.”

Tom Neave to Stand in for The Injured Rouse at Silverstone

Tom Neave will pilot the Movuno.com Halsall Racing Suzuki at round nine of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Silverstone, as he stands-in for the injured Chrissy Rouse.

Neave, of Lincolnshire, will join the squad for next weekend’s event as regular rider Rouse recovers from a broken left hand and right wrist after a crash at Cadwell Park a fortnight ago.

Neave has just spent two rounds with Honda Racing filling in for Dan Linfoot, and had been preparing to return to the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship running his own Suzuki when he received the call-up from team manager Colin Wright.

“I was actually in the garage prepping my bike for Silverstone when Colin called and invited me for a meeting,” he said. “I’m over the moon to have been given another opportunity to race in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Colin and the team, and I can’t wait to get back out. Naturally, it’s going to be another big learning curve. I’ve had two rounds riding the Honda, and now I’ve got to start again with a different bike. My own machine is a Suzuki, so that could be a bit of an advantage.

“It’s been such an amazing year, going from missing the start of the season with a bad shoulder injury to getting the chance to join the BSB grid, and then to get this second opportunity is fantastic.

“I got a 12th and a 15th at Cadwell Park two weeks ago, so I’d like to aim for similar results at Silverstone. I plan to spend Friday learning about the bike and getting settled in, and then hopefully we can push forward and move towards the points as the weekend goes on.”

Team manager Colin Wright is keen to see how Neave adapts to the new machinery and team. “Tom’s a great guy, we had a long meeting this week and as far as I’m concerned he ticks all of the boxes so far,” he said.

“With Chrissy recovering, we wanted to find a promising youngster to fill his seat until he is fit enough to come back, and after seeing Tom in action at Cadwell, I felt he was the ideal candidate.

Chrissy Rouse joins the Halsall Racing squad at Knockhil

THE Movuno.com Halsall Racing Team is back in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend with Chrissy Rouse aboard its Suzuki.

The 23-year-old from Burnopfield near Newcastle, made his debut with the squad at Knockhill this morning, as the fifth round of the series got underway.

Rouse, who just last month completed a maths degree at Newcastle University, has made the step up from the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 series, where he currently lies fourth in the points.

Team manager Colin Wright said: “We had a space available on our superbike and Chrissy was a rider we were interested in speaking to.

“I’ve followed his progress closely for the last few years and I genuinely believe he could be another James Toseland in terms of how he rides, how he handles himself and how he behaves. He’s talented on the bike and intelligent off it, which to me is ideal.

“Chrissy has been keen to move into superbikes for a while now and I’m delighted that we have been able to make it happen. Everyone involved with the team has worked tirelessly behind the scenes over the last few days and it’s great that we are now in a position to hit the track.

“This is my first official race weekend with the team so it’s a weekend of firsts for everyone, but I’m confident we will all work well together and I’m excited to see how quickly Chrissy gets to grips with the superbike and how we can all move forward.”

Chrissy Rouse added: “This is an absolute dream come true for me. Ever since I started racing I wanted to ride in Superbikes so to get an opportunity like this is just incredible.

“Knockhill is also the nearest track to my home near Newcastle so to be able to make my BSB debut here at a track I know really well is fantastic. I’ve got loads of friends and family coming up for the weekend, many of who don’t know about this switch so I’m looking forward to doing the best I can in Sunday’s races.

“I know it’s going to be a big learning curve but I’m ready for it and willing to work as hard as I have to.”
