“You know, the party isn’t in the library,” came the voice of Lor-Zod, making Vera-El squeak and hide behind his datapad, little good it did him, and peek out over it; the older boy had an eyebrow raised, but looked very amused, and it was a kind look on him, unlike the way Lor’s father wore amusement in that belittling way Vera’s father had warned him of.
“I was - I was just,” Vera stumbled over his explanation, because how to explain he was searching for information on the near-fall of Krypton, especially when Lor was that certain kind of handsome that made his brain scramble?
Lor was quiet and Vera’s words failed him as he got a sudden, but small, smile, and something in him turned to mush, even before Lor shut the door behind him to come and join, saying simply, “If you’re looking up that, you’re looking in the wrong place - here, I’ll show you where my father keeps his secrets.”
