Last week, I had a Zoom webinar for prospects who were considering joining Brand Lab™. Because of room size limitations, there was an application process. The replay is available to watch for a few more days.
I'll include the link in the comment below.
During the webinar, I shared an early draft of the diagram below, which I'm relabeling as Purpose Mapping. It's inspired by Picasso's quote "The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."
According to Abraham Maslow, once your base needs are met (physiological, safety and security), you work towards your higher needs: love & belonging, self-esteem and self-actualization (meaning, purpose, fulfilling your potential).
Why do you exist? Not an easy question to answer.
Try answering these 3 questions (in yellow, blue and red).
1. What do you want? 2. How will you accomplish this? 3. Why is this important to you?
Then work your way through the next ring out. What will achieving this do for you?
Let's work through one example section. To answer what do you want, if you want to build a personal brand, your answer might be: Build an audience. Staying on this goal, answer "what will this do for you"?
1. connecting 2. belonging 3. community 4. authority 5. feedback 6. be seen & heard 7. validation
Then select the top 3 for you.
Repeat this process for the next two sections.
Finally, in the outer ring, find the connection between the two adjacent sections. What transformation will that create for you?
Now go back and fill in the center. If you want to see how this was done on the webinar (albeit an older version of this diagram), watch the video.
