Butterflies in Yooka-Laylee serve as the game’s primary method of regenerating both health and stamina, but still act as a limited resource; the player can only use each butterfly for one or the other. As such, the game is designed so that Yooka must catch butterflies with her tongue to gain health, and just touch them to gain stamina, as the latter tends to come up much more frequently than the former.

In the wake of E3's completion, I'm happy to say that myself and Blake "Shadyvox" Swift (voice of the "Pagie" in Yooka-Laylee and fellow Rareware fan) had the chance to interview Chris Sutherland, one of the head honchos at Playtonic Games and a former Rare staffer who worked on countless games from our childhood, including the Donkey Kong Country series and Banjo-Kazooie. We talk extensively with Chris about his time working at Rare, some fun behind the scenes tidbits about our favorite classic games, insight into the development process and their transition into forming a new company to create a series of new games!
