called by god named after curtains: part one
my mother was only seventeen years old when she was told that she could never have children. she suffered terribly from endometriosis, and Iâm guessing there were a lot of other factors as to why she physically could not carry a child. sheâd always dreamt of being a mom, so i can only imagine the pain she must have felt when she first heard that news; devastated sums it up pretty well. i donât know how long my mom held on to that report, but somewhere along the way she came to know and believe that Godâs report triumphs all; âHe maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. praise ye the LORD.â psalm 113:9
she collected baby girl clothes in faith for years, knowing that God was going to heal her of her infertility, and specifically bless her with a little girl-- ME! also, get thisânot only do i exist, but so does my brother and sister. so my mom is actually the mother to THREE miracles babies! woo hoo!
i told you from the beginning that this story ended in victory. so why do we (myself included) worry, lose sleep, and make ourselves ill with anxiety over things God has already declared victory over. His word tells us straight up that we are on the winning team! âfor the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.â âdeuteronomy 20:4
imagine if my mom had just accepted the doctorâs reports as facts, & never believed God for more. (please understand that I am not saying other women who struggle with infertility lack faith or trust in God by any means! i donât have all the answers and understood Godâs ways. I am aware that not every struggle can be boiled down to one simple reason; this is just one story.)  i would not exist nor would my siblings, and we would never get the chance to share our gifts and talents with the world.
i shared all of this to say your faith and your resilience is perfectly connected with Godâs plan for another individual or even a multitude of people. so whatever youâre going through, donât give up. donât give up on your dreams. donât give up on that loved one. donât give up on your life, because the journey you are on is not an isolated one. our loving Father created you and CHOSE you to be a part of humanityâs story at this specific time for a specific purpose. i pray that if you havenât already, you discover the unique calling God has put on your life. if you know your calling, i pray that God will give you the courage and endurance to walk in alignment with what He has revealed to you.
