(a revised version of Version 3.0.0's "under the fold" commentary)

After a significant amount of designing time, Version 3.0.0 officially released Firedrake's winged reference sheet! ✨

And today, this new version up, Version 3.1.0, complements Firedrake's brand-new winged reference sheet with an improved wingless reference sheet.

A Recap — Version 3.0.0 contains brand-new winged artwork of Firedrake posed in a way that subtly hints at the grey areas of his semi-anthropomorphic anatomy. This will also technically be the very first time that Firedrake has ever officially had a proper winged reference sheet the way I originally envisioned it, so this is a huge milestone for him. 👀💙

That took a lot of time, effort, and love in order to thoughtfully figure out Firedrake's wings, as there aren't that many great references for muscular wings if you know what I'm saying 😛

However...

Version 3.0.0 didn't have any new changes for Firedrake's wingless reference sheet, making it look a bit off compared to his new winged reference sheet. But this month (May 2026), I've finally gotten around to doing the "little(?)" quality of life updates that I was initially planning to roll out alongside Version 3.0.0. In Version 3.1.0, Firedrake's face, mane, stripes, and a few other (much more minor) things have been redrawn to feature nicer shapes and improve his silhouette. You might not be able to tell the differences between Version 3.1.0 and the previous version, Version 3.0.0, immediately; however, if you take a closer look at Firedrake's face in particular, you might notice a much more visually pleasing approach to how his snout and overall head shape is presented. Also, on the back view, his one big dragon foot — the only one that's visible on that drawing — has been updated to look more like the stompers seen on his winged reference sheet.

As always, I'd love to hear what you guys think of Firedrake! His feedback form is on both this post and his Carrd. And once again, higher-resolution reference sheets are also available on his Carrd since Tumblr's compression is quite intense.

(These reference sheets have been 9600x5400 since Version 1.0.2, but I've noticed that Tumblr compresses the images in my past reference sheet posts to resolutions as low as 2048x1152. 😦 Not ideal since that makes the smaller text extremely hard to read, if not completely illegible.)
