โ astarion informed me that today's yourโhow you sayโ โbirthday,โ and that it's customary to give you something every year for it so, here. for one of many... โ she rummages through her pack and pulls out two medium-length leather cords folded over and segmented into two parts, connected at its peak by a separate suspension attachment: the upper halves are, relatively, flat and smooth with fancily tied knots a quarter of the way down. both ends twists to become two, single braids where it's knotted again, fanning out into two tails each with colorful stone beads etched with runes and glyphs ( yellow and red on one end; dark blue and purple on the other). small tufts of leather poke out from underneath the ornaments. โ i believe it's something you'd take to as a fighter. it's a charm i got from a passing craftsman in boareskyr bridge. when attached to your weapon, your attacks will bypass an enemies' non-magical immunity and resistance, if they have any. in other words, your weapon will be magical for the time being. โ

The air this particular Nightal is warmer than the other nameday's she recalls. Many were spent fending off the cold by stacking a hearth high with wood, or layering her hands with wraps as her tea would grow cold beside her. The snows that formed over the Sea of Fallen Stars would create large mounds on the frozen surface of the ocean, and those possessed of a great courage would venture onto its surface for a moment of excitement before hobbling their way dockside.
This Nightal, there wasn't a flake of snow in the sky as Laera sat alone, plating the length of her hair until she's joined for company.
โ Lae'zel! โ It wasn't expected, but it was welcome. In the time their small party spent together, Laera had witnessed Lae'zel grow into the world her and what her desire to become a part of meant. Within that time as well, her measure had grown to be that of a reliable friend and a cherished comrade. โ Iโฆ I don't even know what to say other than, well, thank you. 'E isn't wrong about nameday's butโฆ you don't 'ave to get anyone anything. Don't take that as if I'm not grateful, though! I am, really. โ
Before she touches it, she can feel the magic coiled around the leather cords, where at their ends, the magic focuses. The tingle across her fingers thrums, concentrating in a constant vibration as the unassuming beads sit in her palm. โ Hmm. I can tell it's a good one too. Not all magic items are the same, you know. This will also be good at all the fights we'll be facing. โ Her eyes catch her friend's, a passing moment of worry as the threat of Vlaakith's warriors loom. A worry, though, for another time. Laera balls the cord in her hands and she steps into Lae'zel, wrapping her arms around her slight shoulders, her neck, and holding her against her. โ You're sweet when you want to be. Heh, thank you. โ Hands come to rest on her spotted shoulders, and in a flourish if a bright, blue light, her sword materialises from the dimension it resides in. โ You want to 'elp me put it on? Maybe on the guard? โ
