Adrien Salt Prompt: What Friends Are For
âAdrien I--I donât blame you for how horrible I was, because, I mean, I was the one doing all those things, I was the one making those choices, I canât say it was your fault, because it wasnât, but I...I mean, it didnât help, did it? The two of us being friends, always...always supporting each other, even when we were wrong.
Even when what we were doing was wrong.Â
Even...when we were hurting people.Â
It...it started with us sneaking into the kitchen to steal cookies and lying to each otherâs parents so we wouldnât get in trouble and it...it turned us into monsters.
I let these people think you cared about them. I lied for you by not saying anything. A lie by omission is still a lie, donât you deny it--and you...you stuck by me even when...even when I was hurting them. Humiliating them.
Adrien I--I was a bully. I was abusing them. And you just...you stuck by me. You defended me. You tried to make them forgive me and I...Adrien I donât...I canât blame you for what I did, but I just...I wish just once instead of defending me youâd defended them.
I wish just once youâd have seen past your loyalty and saw that what I was doing was wrong. I wish you could have gotten through to me. I wish youâd have stood up to me, just once, just one time, so that maybe I would have gotten to this point sooner.
I was a horrible person, Adrien, and I donât even know if Iâm a good person right now, I donât know if Iâll ever be. But Iâm going to try. Because I want to be a good person, I want to be better than who I was before. And I really wish you could have helped me get to this point, but you didnât.
You could have stopped me at any time, but you didnât. Neither of us did. We just kept supporting each other, kept enabling each other, and getting worse and worse as the time went on. We could have stopped ourselves before we got to this point, before either of us took things this far, but we didnât.
Weâve been friends since we were kids, weâve been conspirators since our parents first shoved us in a room together so they could get away from us.Â
So thatâs what Iâm doing for you today, Adrien. Iâm standing up to you. Iâm telling you that what youâre doing is wrong. You need to stop. You need to just--stop and think about someone besides yourself for just five seconds, please. I know how good it feels, I know how powerful it makes you feel but Adrien--itâs not worth it. Itâs not worth the damage youâre doing.
And I donât mean your reputation, I donât mean that they wonât be your friends anymore, I donât mean people will be mad at you and youâll get in trouble. Thatâs not what I mean. I mean itâs not worth the damage youâre doing to them.
Itâs not worth the damage youâre going to do to her.
Adrien, please, just...listen to me. Weâve known each other for as long as I can remember, and Iâm here, right now, trying to be the friend I should have been back then.
What youâre about to do is wrong, and you know it, and you need to stop. And if you make me, I will fight you, Iâll fight you until I canât anymore, youâll have to Cataclysm me to make me stop. Youâll have to kill me to make me stop.
Because I care about you Adrien, but I canât let you hurt anyone else. I canât let you do this.
You didnât do anything to stop me from hurting other people.
But please, let me do that for you. Let me be the friend you should have been to me. Let me stop you from making the biggest mistake of your life. Let me be a good friend to you, like you should have been for me.â
