Sums up my Arkansas trip this summer!
Vampire Chloah AU
Vampire Chloah AU
I apologize for the wait in uploading this but here it is, I also wrote Chloeâs first kill scene, if youâre interested in reading it, send me an ask or message me and Iâll send it to you.
Chloe sits on the ground; cold cement that would chill her to the bone if she wasnât already dead. She exhales heavily despite the fact that she doesnât need to breathe. Itâs weird, she thinks, being a vampire. Sheâd thought about it all the time as a human, thought it would be wonderful to live forever, young and beautiful. Having fangs and superhuman strength and speed, thought that hey, being a vampire would be fun.
I was an idiot.
Then she got turned and early mornings sheâd find herself waking Isabel to get her some blood from a butcher shop or something because she was hungry. And the hunger does what it wants. Isabel would get up without complaint and go grab some because she remembers what it was like to be a young vamp, constantly hungry and climbing the mountain of control with finger holds the size of quarters.
And even though the burning-to-ashes-in-sunlight thing was a myth, she did still burn. Different kinds of vampires have different reactions to sunlight. European and North American vampires get burns, but with a bit of blood they disappear. South American and Asian vampires tan, quickly and almost comically when stepping outside. African and Australian vampires sparkle, not a covered-in-glitter sparkle, but a gentle gleam that makes them look almost siren like. While Chloe has no idea what Arctic vampires might do in the sunlight, she canât imagine any would want to live on an ice cap.
A wet sucking noise makes Chloeâs gaze jump up from Isabel feeding to the human. A high school student maybe. Probably no older than Isabel when Isabel was turned.
Isabel has no qualms with killing her victims or as she likes to refer to them, meals on wheels. Four hundred eighty something year old vampires rarely care about anything other than meals and their âoffspringâ. Chloe on the other hand has serious issues with killing someone. Sheâs only killed once.
Plus sheâs only three.
Chloe puts her head back on her knees and wraps her arms around her legs.
âWant some?â
She looks up startled. Isabel is holding out the unbitten side of a personâs neck. Chloe cranes her head to look at the face. Grey eyes meet hers, clouded from the venom in Isabelâs fangs, but fear is still very present in them.
â...help.. ...me...â
âOh my god Isabel, theyâre still awake!â
Isabel looks down at the scared human and frowns.
âWell duh, the blood tastes better when theyâre scared.â
Chloe shakes her head.
âNo thanks, Iâll get something later.â
Sigh.
âYou canât live off of animal blood forever; soon youâre going to need some human blood.â
Chloe scowls at Isabel, forehead creasing and fangs bared.
âNo. Iâm fine. I can do just fine without feeding from a human.â
Isabel rolls her eyes and goes back to feeding from the human. Chloe closes her eyes as the body goes limp. She can hear the heartbeat slow to a stop. Isabel sighs contentedly and flashes Chloe a bloody smile.
Dropping the bloodless corpse, Isabel wipes her mouth and meets Chloeâs eyes .
âLook, I know youâre scared of killing-â
âIâm not!â
Isabel ignores the interruption. Chloe frowns, thinking about the first time she killed.Â
â-but you need something more substantiation than hamburger guts. I stand by what I said earlier. You need to eat. You donât have to kill them, just drink a few mouthfuls. Five tops.â
Chloe frowns and stands up.
Fine.
Isabel smiles and leads the way out of the alley. Looking both ways for a possible victim. A grin lights up her face and she nods to their left. Chloe follows her gaze. A girl is exiting a house, waving good-bye and putting in her ear buds. Isabel and Chloe start walking in the direction the girl is walking. The two vampires wait until they are at a corner before waving good-bye to each other. Isabel turning right Chloe standing at the corner waiting for the light to turn red.
She crosses the street and Chloe follows. The girl turns right and so does Chloe. Chloe smiles because this is an alley and the girl doesnât seem to know that. Oh yes. An easy meal then she and Isabel can go up to Minnesota for the winter. Chloe enters the alley and frowns. The girl isnât in immediate sight. Where could she be? The answer is given to her in the form of a water balloon hitting the back of her head. It explodes and its contents run down the back of her shirt. Wet and cold-wait. Not cold. Hot. Burning hot. Holy water. âFuck!â âTake that vamp bitch!â Chloe uses her super speed to air dry herself and whirls around to see the small girl lunging at her with a stake. With reflexes and strength she wasnât sure she had, Chloe rips the stake out of her hand and throws it back out into the street. The girl scowls and pulls out a cross. Thrusting it in Chloeâs direction. Oh god, itâs a slayer. Chloe falls backwards and starts scrambling away from the cross. The girl keeps pressing forwards with the cross in one hand and reaching for something behind her with the other. Once theyâre within armâs reach of each other, she drops the crucifix and stabs at Chloeâs chest with another stake. â..!â Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on oneâs perspective, Chloe catches the girlâs wrists just as the tip touched her shirt. This girl was strong; a common quality among slayers, and with the angle, Chloe finds herself in this position with the girl. âDamn itâŚâ The girl starts pressing harder and Chloe winces as it starts digging into her skin. I need to get away⌠Now! Frantically, Chloe scans the alley, but thereâs nothing that can be used as a counter weapon. Of course. She could knock the girl to the side and make a run for it, but thereâs no guarantee that the slayer wonât stake her while sheâs running away. Looking back up at the girl, Chloe gets an idea. She smiles. The other girl frowns and her struggling to kill Chloe stops for a second. âWhat are you smiling abo- mmph!â Chloe snaps her head up and presses their lips together. Smile growing as the girlâs grip on the stake loosens. Awkwardly and without grace, Chloe leans into the kiss; fighting the blush that rises to her cheeks. When the girlâs grip is loose enough, Chloe pushes her off and makes a dead sprint out of the alley. She starts running towards the hotel where she and Isabel are staying. Because she still needs to eat and Isabel is more than capable of killing this slayer. Then she can go find someone else to kill and she can kill someone else once she has this goddamn slayer off her goddamn back. Chloe shudders. I should have listened to Isabel when she was talking about slayers⌠Itâs her first encounter with a slayer, but she didnât think it would be like that. Gingerly, she reaches up and touches her still tingling lips as she rounds a corner. âI guess first kisses really are a spur of the moment thing.â Chloe slows her pace as she approaches the building and smiles, looking around. No oneâs following her, good. She shoves her hands in her pockets and starts walking the last two blocks to the hotel. Now I just have to explain to Isabel why- âOomph!â A body slams into her side and knocks both of them into a side street. The body picks itself immediately and moves away from her. âWhat the hell is wrong with you?!â Chloe looks up, rubbing her head. âWhat are you-â Itâs the slayer. â-talking aboutâŚâ The girl is pacing back and worth waving her arms around and holding an open water bottle. Water flies out of the open top and some of it lands on Chloeâs arms. She hisses. Holy water in a bottle⌠Seriously?! âYou canât just do that!â Chloe jumps as a larger splash hits her legs. âAgh! Fuck! What do you mean?!â The girl turns around and thrusts a cross in Chloeâs direction, forcing the vampire to back into a wall. âYou canât just take someoneâs first kiss and run away like that! Itâs rude! And youâre a fucking vampire! Oh my god. I just kissed a vampire. Oh god. Shit. Shitshitshitshitshit. Fuck! I kissed a vampire! Mmmph!â The girl flails her arms in an attempt to show her confusion, but only succeeds in throwing holy water on Chloeâs face. She scrubs at it hurriedly and hisses at the steam that flows from the wound. The girl thrusts the cross in Chloeâs direction again, incoherently yelling, but Chloe bets that the words coming from her mouth are swears. âYou didnât even bother to ask my name!â âFine. Whatâs your name?â âHannah!â Nice name⌠Chloe doesnât dare say that out loud though, not with an angry armed slayer ready to stake her as soon as sheâs done ranting. â-I was saving that for someone special!â Hannah doesnât seem to be stopping any time soon. Not that Chloe minds exactly, because Hannahâs actually really beautiful. Her blue eyes shine with anger and her hair is probably mused under her beanie, but thatâs fine. Thatâs perfectly fine. Because sheâs beautiful. And Chloe sheâs well, sheâs⌠Iâm so fucking gay⌠âDo you have any idea how hard it is to be a seventeen year old girl in America and not have kissed someone?!â Grumbling, Chloe looks up at Hannah with fangs bared. âWould you shut up?! It was my first kiss too!â Chloe regrets the words as soon as theyâre out of her mouth. Hannah on the other hands stops âWhat did you just say?â ââŚâ Hannah lowers her water bottle and cross. âWas that your first kiss?â ââŚâ Chloe refuses to speak; instead leveling her own clover green eyes in a dead stare at Hannahâs violently cerulean ones. Hannahâs eyes sharpen as she leans in, crossing her arms over her chest in an attempt to look threatening. With a spirit she didnât know she had, Chloe smirks at Hannah and tilts her head sideways. âIs that supposed to scare me?â For a second the tables are turned. Hannah falters in her interrogation and Chloe gains some ground. Hannah huffs. âWell⌠yeah. Generally it does.â Chloe stands back up and makes a show of brushing off her clothes. âIt clearly doesnât scare me, so if youâll excuse me, Iâll be on my way.â Hannah thrusts the crucifix in between Chloe and the exit of the alley, then âNot so fast.â Aggravated, Chloe steps farther back into the alley. âYou gotta answer my question first.â Chloe quirks an eyebrow. âAnd what if I donât want to?â Hannah splashes some more holy water on Chloe in response. Hiss. âFine. What is it?â âWas that your first kiss?â ââŚâ Hannah flicks her wrist and moves some of her hair back under her beanie. âWell?â ââŚyesâŚâ Hannah laughs and Chloe blushes. Crossing her arms over her chest and turning her head away. Stubbornly refusing to even look in Hannahâs direction. âThat wa-haha-was your first, your fir-first-ha-kiss.â âShut up.â Hannah looks up at Chloe, holding her middle as she continues laughing. âAnd how old are you? Youâre probably like fifty in vamp years or something if youâve never-â âThree.â âWhat?â Chloe turns to look at Hannah. âYou heard me. Three.â âThree hundred?â âNo just three.â Hannah stops laughing. âSo that makes you like seventeen in human years then?â âYeah. What of it?â Hannah gestures to herself. âIâm seventeen.â âWow, you look like, fourteen.â âSo do you!â âYeah, but I was turned when I was fourteen. Iâll look fourteen until I die.â Chloe smiles at Hannahâs frown. Thatâs cute. âThat was your first kiss.â Hannahâs turn to smile at Chloeâs frown. âWhateverâŚâ âChloe?â Both girlsâ heads turn to look at the opening of the alley. Isabel stands at the opening with her arms crossed. Her eyes the blood red they get when sheâs ready to attack. Her feet are wide apart and if Chloe had to guess, her hidden hands are balled into fists. Hannah steps in front of Chloe. Itâs a risky move, putting herself at a disadvantage and opening herself to Chloe. But itâs also smart, facing the stronger of the two vampires. Chloeâs eyes wide open because if Hannah wanted to, she could easily whip around and kill Chloe with the remainder of the holy water. She shudders. A rather gruesome death. Chloe sends Isabel a distressed look. âWho are you?â A growl rumbles low in Isabelâs throat. Chloe doesnât have to see to know that Isabelâs fangs are already extended and ready for action. âNone of your business. Now get away from my kid and no one gets hurt.â Hannah smirks. âAs if.â Isabel growls. âLet me rephrase that. Get the fuck away from my kid and I will make your death relatively painless.â âBring it on.â Chloeâs only seen Isabel hunt normal humans. She toys with them and plays mind games until they fall right into her lap, filled with fear and paranoia. But Hannah is not a normal human. And Isabel is not in the mood to pay. It only takes a para-second for Isabel to move from the alleyway opening to disarming Hannah and pinning the slayer to the wall by the throat. Several feet off the ground. Chloe swallows as Hannahâs legs kick at the air. Itâs not a pretty sight. The way Hannahâs pinned, her arms are trapped behind her back. And with nothing for her legs to get traction on, the only thing holding her up is Isabelâs grip on her throat. Bruises are already forming and Hannahâs face is turning red. âSTOP!â At Chloeâs shout, Isabel loosens her grip and Hannah takes a deep breath of air, freeing her arms and using them to take some of the pressure off of her windpipe. Isabel speaks to Chloe in a cold tone, but doesnât take her eyes off of Hannah. âWhat?â Chloe reaches towards Isabel. âLet her down. Please.â Isabel glances sideways at Chloe and sighs. Then she drops Hannah and steps back , but still close enough to kill the slayer if needed. âWhat?â Chloe wrings her hands and watches Hannah cough and hold her throat taking in ragged breaths. Sheâs shaking, shaking hard, she hasnât felt this anxious since she was alive. Isabel notices and snarls at Hannah. âWhat did you do to her?â Hannah shakes her head. âNothing! I didnât do anything! I swear!â Isabel hisses at Hannah and the smaller girl scowls back. When the slayer doesnât break, the older vampire turns to Chloe. Blood red eyes slowly turning back to blue. âWell? What is it? Why did you want me to let her go?â Chloe bites her lip and fiddles with her jacket cuffs. âYou see-itâs umm. She-well I actually-I mean it totally wasnât on purpose! Except it sort of was-but I didnât mean to get attached. Yeah! Attached-and so basically what happened was we umm⌠we sort of uh, kissed.â Isabelâs eyes flash back to red before Chloe can finish the âed in kissed. âWhat the fuck were you thinking?!â âI was trying not to get killed!â âNo! I meant about me letting her go! A kiss does not equal an all access pass to not being killed by vampires!â âWELL IT DOES TO ME!â âWHY?!â âBECAUSE THAT WAS MY FIRST KISS!â Isabel stops yelling to stare at Chloe. âAre you serious?â Chloe waves her hands around exasperatedly. âYes! Okay? That was my first kiss! Iâm three-fourteen-seventeen-whatever and I havenât kissed anyone yet! Except Hannah! That was my first kiss! Are you happy now?!â Hannah snickers. âOh shut up! That was your first kiss too!â âSo? Iâm a human, not a vampire. I donât get half the opportunities to kiss people as you do, little miss creature of the night.â âI am not little. Iâm like, a foot taller than you! And that is such a stupid name for me!â âIt is not! Youâre stupid!â âNo, youâre stupid!â âYouâre stupider!â âYouâre stupidest!â Hannah steps forward into Chloeâs bubble of personal space. Isabel watches from a small distance, eating popcorn. Where did she get that? âAnd I liked it better when you werenât talking!â âWhen I wasnât talking, I was kissing you!â âThen maybe you should!â âMaybe I will!â Chloe becomes vaguely aware of a weird pulsating sensation in her chest as heat starts to rise to Hannahâs cheeks. Both girls inches from each other as the notion of Hannahâs threat washes over them. âYouâre too scared to!â âAm not!â âAre too!â âAm not!â âThen prove it!â âFine!â Hannah grabs Chloe by the front of her jacket and pulls her down for another kiss. She tangles one hand in Chloeâs short hair as Chloe fumbles with putting her hands Hannahâs waist. Squeezing and yelping when Hannah bites her lip hard enough to draw blood. Chloeâs vaguely aware of Isabelâs whistle as she pulls away. Trying not to blush when she sees Hannahâs bloody smile. Hannah crosses her arms and looks away, suddenly frowning, despite the smile that tugs at the corners of her mouth. Chloe follows suit, glaring at Isabel, still eating popcorn. Clearing her throat, Hannah tugs at the lapels of Chloeâs jacket, straightening them out. Then reaching up to fix her beanie as she swallows quietly. âDonât think this means anything vampire.â âSame to you slayer.â âAh-hem.â Both teens whip around to stare at Isabel. âAlmost as much as I hate to break you up, I kid. I donât. I actually really enjoy breaking this up, but youâre a vampire and youâre a slayer, so I got some news to tell ya. Listen up kids.â Chloe tilts her head, trying to remain calm because Isabel has that creepy as smile on her face. âNews?â Hannah takes a less subtle approach. âWhat the hell is that supposed to mean?â Isabel smiles and cracks her knuckles. Throwing the empty popcorn bag into a nearby dumpster as she takes a deep breath and holds herself with a âholier than thouâ look. âAs many vampires fail to understand, when they kiss a slayer, they become bonded to that slayer. Not bonded as in âyouâre my partner for the rest of the weekâ kind of bonded. Itâs more of a âweâre partners for lifeâ kind of bonded.â In an attempt to convey her confusion, Chloe flails her arms. âAGH! Isabel, you canât just âWhat are we now, mates?!â Isabel interjects with a raised finger. âMore like Soul mates kiddies.â Hannah puts her face in her hands. âOh my god thatâs even worse!â Chloe blinks, then looks at Isabel with a bewildered stare. âSoul⌠mates?â âYep.â Chloe slides to the ground and puts her head between her legs. âOh my god. Oh god. Oh my god. Oh shit. Oh fuck. Oh god.â She looks up desperately at Isabel, Hannah pacing and swearing at about the same rate a few inches from her. âIs there any way to reverse this.â Isabel looks entirely too smug as she leans against one of the alley walls. âNope.â Hannah nods stoicly. âThis still doesnât change anything vampire.â âRight.â Isabel turns and starts leaving the alley. Chloe moving to follow behind her. Chloe makes it two steps before turning around and thrusting a piece of paper into Hannahâs hand. âHereâs my number.â âSame, hereâs mine.â âDo you two wanna kiss again before you have to leave?â This time two teenagers yell at Isabel. âSHUT UP!â
