hello! i searched your blog and didnt find any posts related to daomu biji so i understand if you cant answer this: i was wondering what you think of the north/central asian characters and culture in lost tomb? aside from reboot with zhu yilong, i dont think any of the tv shows fall into any of the stereotypes you talk about, but those were all the obvious ones and i want to know what the more subtle racism would look like. thanks for answering so many questions already!
sorry, this isn't one I can help with as I've never had the chance to read DMBJ! it's far too long for the pretty lacklustre reviews I've heard of it. what I've picked up from friends (which is to say, this is not a first-hand source, take everything with a grain of salt) is that it's a generally undereducated portrayal of n/casia that treated it as a blank slate to fill in whatever culture fit the series best. however, having never seen it myself, I really can't speak for the validity of that statement. if anyone with more experience would like to chime in, they're fully welcome to :)
