When your demon bf has big bazoonga bodonghonkaroos.

Kira immediately came to Chimney's house in the InBetween after her work shift was done. She had hated leaving him, especially when he was sound asleep in her lap on the couch, but work needed to be done. She just hoped that he had stayed asleep while she was gone, and that if he awoke the rays of moonlight would keep him calm.

When she arrived however, she found the couch empty. Panic immediately threatened to take her over, but she swallowed it down and looked for him. She did not have far to go however, finding him sitting in the unlit kitchen, his back to the entrance.

"Chimney...I'm sorry, I had to go to work..."

There was no movement, just his low raspy voice coming out barely above a whisper, "You don't have to stay."

She looked perplexed, "I just got here...do you want me to go?"

"...no."

When she approached she saw that his shoulders were slumped forward, his silvery eyes a softer shade of grey.He was wrapped in her blanket still, his fingers locked in a death grip on the hem.

She had seen him melancholy before, but this wasn't part of his cycle of emotional instability, it was an effect of shame. He still had nightmares of his own to contend with. Ones where she abandoned him, because he had not been strong enough to protect her.

She looked at him in sadness, before sighing and stroking through his hair with her fingers, the scent of hair product drifting into the air as she worked through the strands,  "Do you really think I could ever replace you?"

"I don't know...", he still stared straight ahead but did not move away from her touch, instead tilting his head ever so slightly so that she would keep going. She smiled slightly,

"I couldn't...not ever. I love you, okay?", she placed a kiss on his head , "I'm right here"

His head was still down, but he turned it slightly towards her, until it was resting against her arm. He was like an injured animal, wild, distrusting, but still in need of comfort.

She rubbed her hand over his shoulders, "You want to go back to the couch with me?"

Slight nod.

"I think I saw lightning coming this way, maybe we'll get a storm...", she took one of his strong, rough skinned hands in hers and guided him back to the couch. He followed, slowly, before crumpling onto it and letting his head fall in her lap once more. Outside, the thunder began to roll, the winds howling as lightning flashed.

January Art Round Up!
