Cora used the same team for all of her photo shoots, no matter what company. Usually they lets her have some creative control, which is a lot more than most modes could say they had but she wasn't most models. If a company wanted a pretty face they get any girl, if they wanted people to notice they called Cora, and everyone did.
She was listening to Erica, her best friend and makeup artist, talk about her her boyfriend, Boyd, when the director of the shoot walked over. "You look amazing honey. Are we ready to get started?"
"Yeah I'm all ready to go Tiffany." She took a drink from her water bottle and got up from her chair as Erica gave a few finishing touches.
Tiffany looked over at her assistant and pointed at the accessory table. "Daniel bring me the cuffed watch. We need something to cover this tattoo."
Cora held up her hand and shook her head. "Whoa...my manager should have told you this but I don't cover my tattoo."
Tiffany held the watch in her hand and gave Cora a condescending smile. "Yes but with the direction we're taking this photo shoot your tattoo doesn't quite fit."
Cora got that look a lot. Most people just thought that she was a dumb model who just did what she was told and she loved setting them straight. "I understand that but like I said, I don't cover my tattoo. If it's a problem the. you'll have to find someone else."
Tiffany's smile was gone but she still held the watch. "This is a big campaign Ms. Hale. We are paying you the largest amount we've ever paid a model..."
She shrugged and took the watch, putting it on her makeup table."I'll be more than happy to give you your money back but you wanted me for a reason." She held up her wrist so that Tiffany could get a good look. "This triskelion is important to me and my family, I won't cover it up for this company or any other one. I don't care if you paid me ten times what you're paying me now."
"Fine, we'll make it work." Tiffany gestured behind her. "Scott McCall is our photographer today."
Cora had worked with him a few times and recognized him. He walked over, ignoring the obvious tension in the air. "Hey, ready to rock and roll."
"Always."
She work on four different sets and worked the whole day. There was another full day of shooting left and all the shots need to be approved.
The next day she was there extra early getting ready. Erica was doing her makeup and she was still in her sweats when Tiffany's assistant walked over to give her the rundown of how everything was going to go. "Okay no problem. Hey can I get the proofs from yesterday?"
He nodded and looked down at his phone."Yeah I'll have someone bring them from our editor guy."
After about ten minutes a girl walked over and handed her an envelope of the pictures. "Damn you look hot Cora, thanks to me of course." Erica laughed looking over her shoulder as she flipped through them.
She laughed with her and looked closer at the pictures. "We all know I'd be nothing without you. Do these look a bit off to you?"
Erica picked up one the the photos and looked at them to try and spot something. "What do you mean?"
"They Photoshopped my tattoo out." She hopped up from the chair and went to find the girl who gave her the envelope. "Hey! Where did you get this?"
The girl looked up from a stack of papers she had in her hands. "Um...the photo editor."
"Where is the photo editor?"
She turned and pointed to the back of the building. "He's back there. Nerdy looking kid with his nose in a laptop, can't miss him."
The girl was right he was easy to spot. He was sitting at a table with headphones in and was the only person she was who wasn't running around. Cora walked up to him and tapped his shoulder to get his attention "Are you the one who edited these photos?"
He pulled his headphones out and froze when he saw her. "Uh..y-yeah. S-Something wrong?"
Cora tossed the pictures in his lap, frustrated that he would do it. "Yes! I gave specific instructions yesterday that I don't cover up my tattoo. That doesn't mean you get to Photoshop it out!" She was pissed that they would try and go behind her back with this.
He stood up and took a few steps back. "I just do what I'm told. Tiffany told me to get rid of the tattoo so that's what I did."
She took a deep breath and instantly felt bad about yelling at him. "Can you just fix it? I don't care what Tiffany says, if she had a problem with it tell her to come to me."
He smiled at her and nodded. "I can pull up the original for you. The files right here on my computer."
"Thanks." She kneeled down next to him to get a better look at the screen. "Sorry for snapping at you. What's your name?"
He cleared his throat and typed something on his laptop. "I'm...umm...Stiles. I'm Stiles...yeah."
His nervousness made her smile. "Okay, I'm..."
"Cora Hale I know." He said cutting her off. "Pretty sure if I didn't know who you were I'd loose my job."
"Well Stiles if you loose your job because of me then you'll just have to work for me. It's the least I can do for biting your head off." She shrugged.
"Thanks." He typed a few more things and pulled the files up. "Here you go, these are all the originals from yesterday."
Cora looked at them and then looked back at the ones she was given earlier to try and figure out what else he had done. "What did you do to them besides cover the tattoo?"
Stiles shrugged and shook his head. "Nothing."
She snickered and kept looking through the photos. "Yeah right, Someone always does something to them."
"There's nothing wrong with them." He looked over at her. "Any one who touches your photos should loose their job."
She had been given compliments before but there was something about the way he said it and the way he looked at her that made her blush. "With a line like that your girlfriend is lucky."She was definitely fishing but he didn't seem to notice.
He scoffed and walked over to the printer grabbing the photos. "What girlfriend?"
She stood up and took the pictures as he handed them to her. "To many models to choose from?"
"There are more important people around here for the models to hang out with."
Erica whistled to get her attention. "Cora they're almost ready."
"Okay. I'm on my way." She waved good bye to Stiles and started to follow Erica but stopped and turned. "You know I consider myself more of a business woman than a model. Maybe I'll come find you after the shoot and we can hang out."
Stiles looked stunned, like he was trying to process what she was saying. He started nodding and cleared his throat. "Uhhh...okay?...Yeah...Yes. Sounds good." He stuttered causing her to laugh. She turned and walked away looking back and catching a glimpse of him looking around with a confused look, trying to decide if that had actually just happened.
